[The normally sour faced Lieselotte seems to be in a good mood this evening.]

Well, I cannot say that I enjoyed being dragged into the past, but I at least had some good news awaiting me when my NV came back on. It seems that Mr. Butz thought enough of me to prepare in case he ever got dragged home.  I received a prerecorded message from him stating that as the house was paid for, I was allowed to stay here. After a little bit of searching I believe I found the proper documents to make it legal.

So, that is one less thing I have to worry about. There is still the problem of money, but I will begin to think about that later.  I just want to rest for now.  Oh and Mr. Creed, if you see this, I would still like your help sorting out his things. He left some instructions involving two specific ones, a pair of golden statues, and as he thought so much of me I would like to see his wishes carried out.

One last thing. To everyone that was nice enough to offer me your help....

[She looks away from the camera, seeming embarrassed to actually say something like this.]

..Umm.. thanks. It made me a little happy.

[Ichigo looks annoyed as he sits at his kitchen table, wearing his Portside dojo shirt having just come from work.]

Y'know I'm getting pissed that these M.A.N. people are running around labelling every Newcomer they see as some kinda sicko who wants to do godawful shit to their kids. It's like they've forgotten that it was Newcomers who went out and found that missing kid last year, or that they've been happy letting their kids take classes for six months from a Newcomer but now, because some bigot's got it in her head that we're all sick bastards, they're gonna take their kids out of classes until they fire the guy teaching them because he's a Newcomer.

[He checks himself because he's doing the same thing that they're doing.]

What the hell more do they want from us?

[Vesper reappears on the Network, looking as bright-eyed and fresh-faced as the director of the Newcomer Community Center should. She smiles softly.]

Now that we are all back in a familiar time period, we can begin discussing the new year for the center and for our community.

Before I do that, however, I've heard that Newcomers who lived in the apartments are dealing with a bit of trouble because of our absence and have found themselves virtually without. While we look into this from a legal standpoint, we at the Center have set up temporary shelter and will be providing meals.

Donations to help provide for our fellow Newcomers in their time of need are always welcome as well.

I paid my rent two months in advance.

[There is a flash of red. His mouth twitches into a snarl.] My bank account is frozen and the landlord of my apartment changed the locks. I don't care about my stuff, but I want access to my money and I need somewhere to sleep.

Ahh... Hmm.

[What a quiet start. There's a bit of shifting, too, but instead of Emil speaking much more, a song begins, slow at first— but it picks up, and grows spirited. It seems really lighthearted, too, though it gains a little force later on.

When it's finished - and it ends a little abruptly - there's a soft creaking sound: a boy moving on a piano bench. He sounds at ease, when he does finally start talking.]

That one reminds me of warm days and soft grass. At home, I liked to sit outside sometimes and feel the wind... It always made me feel like this. This 'winter' makes me miss that, now the wind feels like it might eat me up a little. So I like to hear things that make me remember such nice weather.

Well, what I wanted to ask is, do you have anything like that? Any music like that? The piano is all I can really play, but you can put most things to piano, and I'd like to learn and hear some new things... [A giggle, sounding perhaps like it might be hidden behind his hand.] I guess I'm not being very festive. I haven't gotten used to all this, though, the very cold, and the snow, and even the sun being gone. Maybe this is my way of missing home?

So I'd appreciate it! And if you play anything, I'd like to hear that, too.

[He's been hanging round Raul Creed's place, and he really... likes that piano..............]

I've been here a while, but I guess there are a few things I still don't really know.

[It's Yosuke, Portians. He's learned to aim the camera on the NV too, so no nostril shots for you today. Try to forgive the facebook angles, okay? He thinks his head looks better from one side.

It doesn't do much to cover up the loud bellowing of something in the background, however.]

...Pardon me. Um, anyway, it turns out that I really like vegetables. A lot. And I could use a few barrels full of them, hopefully kind of-

[The sound of breaking glass, and more bellowing. Yosuke cringes a bit, and taps his chest, apparently still trying to pass this off as simple indigestion.]

-cheap. Thanks for any help you can provide.

[A pale skinned young girl is on the screen. She has an emotionless look on her face, staring at the camera as if she were trying to defeat it with her will alone. When she speaks, it is in a similar tone, a soft tone that simply conveys her message without giving any hint of what she might be thinking.]

I know that some of you are an acquiescence of a man named Larry Butz. You may not know that he has let me stay in his house over the last few months. I have kept mostly to myself in that time. I have had no real reason to reach out to the outside world. I had the safety I needed from the night time and that was what is important. The reason I bring him up is simple. He has not returned home for several days. I was uncertain if it was something simple like us simply missing one another, as I do not spend my days cooped up in here. However, I am no longer able to reach him. From what I have read about other people's experiences, it is likely that he is no longer in the city. That is good for him, as he is no longer trapped, but leaves me in something of an awkward position. I am uncertain if I will be allowed to remain here. I am not one to reach out to others.

[Here, her mask of neutrality briefly cracks. Clearly, the thought of depending on someone else is not something she is fond of.]

But I fear I may be forced to do so, if I am correct. Even if I remain in this house, there is the matter of food. I lack an income, there is no work for someone my age. I am open to suggestions, should anyone have any. If not, I suppose I could start selling his things. It may seem impolite, but he did not seem the sort who would let someone starve, so I do not think he would be offended.

[The feed opens and the face of a snowman fills the screen. Its eyes are bright green buttons, (the exact colour of Vincent's.) It is wearing an ushanka, and a scarf checkered in black and rusty red. If you saw it in person, you would see that it is wearing off-red fingerless gloves on its twiggy arms, but since it is (badly) using them to manipulate the NV all you see is its head. Its face somehow manages to look very worried - damn near panicking, in fact - despite the fact that its coal mouth is fixed in a grin.]

I always figured the sun might end up killing me, but not like this. I don't want to melt!

[The voice clearly belongs to Vincent Law, though the snowman's mouth doesn't move. It's at this point you might notice that the snowman appears to be sweating more than is strictly warranted by today's temperature. Seems that a proxy's vulnerability to sunlight stacks with snow's propensity towards melting. Vincent is melting twice as fast as a regular snowman. Whoops.]

I still can't believe this shit happens. And every day, too. You guys are all used to it?... It's fucking crazy.

[ There's a small smile to her expression before she speaks. Her memories are there, in tact (and some to make her internally cringe), but it isn't that which makes her smile. One year. It was amazing then how quickly the time had passed, although looking back at it now parts of it seem to have been a lifetime. [ Which is incredibly ironic if you know her, and that statement is rare enough from her itself. She's had many moments, many odd years, but a lifetime? It's new ] There's a lot of questions that I have, perhaps more than when I first arrived, although now doesn't quite seem appropriate to ask. I believe that five months is the approximation, if I have the dates correct. [ She does, for the record ] And all in a breath. [ It's a brief off track comment before she turns back to the point at hand - saying hello. A lifetime passed before and a breath for her absence. She may have been gone longer than usual but... it was hardly a breath, on both sides ]

I will ask one question, however. [ You would think it may be something important, or urgent given her previous holding off of the questions. In fact it is, just to her at least ] Is Taylor's still open? Aight, so I'm looking to talk to anybody who was involved with Merlotte's before Sam left. Me and him hadn't gotten to talk much right around then so I dunno what his plans or anything were, but it's looking pretty clear he ain't coming back soon and I wanna make sure some things are taken care of.

Uh, what else - Oh, yeah. Anybody good with like... decorating? I'm moving into a bigger house and I kinda never lived anywhere that big. I don't know where to start with it. I mean, I kinda know, but I'm pretty busy at work and I figure, hey, let the professionals do it.

Anybody who's looking for work, too, I'm gonna need a housekeeper. And a groundskeeper.

And I'm keeping my old place, so if anybody's getting kicked out at the end of the month, we can talk about rent if you're looking for a two-bedroom place. Well, three-bedroom if you put somebody in the attic. It's nice, I promise.

Holy shit, this is all boring stuff. I swear I'll throw a party or something soon.

[It sounds like Ms. Lynd is en route somewhere with traffic sounding in the background and the wind blowing hard over the audio. In fact, she's a little late to work due to sleeping over a certain someone's house.]

Good morning, Siren's Port. We've got plenty of interesting things planned for the end of this year and the holidays. The first thing that's coming up is a canned food drive to benefit less fortunate Newcomers or those who might need some help in having a good meal these days.

That's where Newcomer businesses come in. I was thinking, if any of you are interested, that maybe we could offer a free coupon book that includes your services to anyone who donates a specific amount. It would be a wonderful way to generate business amongst the community and to advertise.

I am looking for the services of a corporate lawyer.

[Locked to all current employees of Violet Systems.]

Team,

While it has been my plan for the long run, it seems that given the recent circumstances, we may need to change gears prematurely. If conditions are favorable, Violet Systems will become a wholly-neutral company. If so, we will have to go through a rough patch in our operations for a while. I cannot assure that I can continue to grant you the things I had promised when I hired you, but I hope you will understand when I tell you that I do this for our values as a newcomer-run company.

If you wish to leave, please let me know. If you would wish to stay with us, I would appreciate that greatly.

[The room is fairly dark, though one can still see the outlines of piles upon piles of battered books. And there is Ergo Proxy, holding a claw to his mask, as if to take it off... But he doesn't.]

For those of you who knew him, Proxy One is no longer in Siren's Port.

[The mask, and the even tone of his rumbling voice make it hard to tell what, if anything, the proxy thinks about this.]

I wonder. We Newcomers are torn from our own lives and our own duties and transplanted into this city. While we're here our lives are on hold and our purposes go unfulfilled. No time might be passing back home, but time still passes for us.

What do you do when you cannot fulfill your purpose?

He— ...Hello? [This most hesitant of greetings comes from a young boy, from the sound of things. There's a sizeable pause before he says anything else, but no outside noises come through in the interim.]

I'm sorry - I hope this is working... I was told how to use this, but I can't see it to check for sure. I guess we'll see if I'm doing this right... Or, at least, you will. [Beat for comedic timing.

He continues on like he didn't just make a really awful joke, but his voice sounds a little more lighthearted, now, soft-spoken though he is.]
Um, this place isn't anything like I'm used to. I was a little confused, because right when I came here, I could tell it was crowded, and I didn't expect that at all. But I talked to a Greeter! He was really nice, and he helped explain things to me. I don't think I've ever heard of Canada, let alone Siren's Port, but it's really something... isn't it?

Anyway... my name is Emil. The Greeter was kind enough to lead me to the building I'll be staying in, so I was able to settle in already. [That was a bit of an ordeal.] Even so, it's going to take a lot of getting used to. Normally, my butler helps me out... [With things like cooking, cleaning, and... getting dressed, because... eyes.] I - I guess I've got a lot of catching up to do. It's weird how you never fully realize how much you rely on someone until you have to start thinking how to get along without them, don't you think? Oh, but...! [That's the sound of someone recognizing they've gotten sidetracked and remembering to get back to the task at hand.] The Greeter explained a little bit of how things work, here, too. I'm going to need to earn money for food and clothing and other important things, aren't I? He said it might be best to ask, um, 'my fellow Newcomers.'

[A deep breath.]

So, I wanted to ask about - jobs, I guess. And what kinds of jobs people do, and offer, and what you need to be able to do them... I've never had a job. [He does sound a little sheepish.] Sebastian always takes care of everything, and if I'm not in my home, I don't get around very easily unless I'm with a friend. So I haven't developed very many skills... I mean, I can play piano, and I can, um... turn things into stone... [For the first time, his voice is a little bit distressed.] I don't think you can do those things for money, though.

Sorry, this is kind of troubling. Some guys offered me a money loan, but I was reluctant to take it since I was in a hurry to get inside. [Sensory overload. Going from recluse to smack dab in the middle of a city was pretty startling.] If there's anything I can do, I'll be glad to try it... I don't think Sebastian anticipated me being without him or my friends, or he'd have prepared me for this kind of thing. Just - if you have any suggestions, I'd be really grateful. Really, really grateful.

—Thank you very much. I really hope that thing was on this whole time.

Citizens of this strange and wonderful city that is Siren's Port,

It has been called to my attention that certain factions within the port have, through their inhumane practices, have proven themselves undeserving of our favor and our patronage. When AGI enslaves those are who indebted to them, the crime they commit is not only against the souls who must live in chains for want of the money maliciously lent, but a crime against all of us who must live along side such a practice.

Will we tolerate such people wielding power over us? Will we work in the employ of slave traders and people who degrade their fellow men? Will we continue allow such things to exist?

Anyone with a shred of decency will say nay! For our fathers that have been enslaved, for our children who could grow up to be slaves, for their sake, we will stand up and tell them no.

Such things must not stand!

Join me!

Together we can clear our Siren's Port of this blight. Who will stand by my side?

Hey, it's Jane.  Again.

I still feel like I've been run over by an eighteen-wheeler, but at least I got out of the house.  Lisbeth took me to the underground mall so I could buy some clothes and look around at some location choices for this shop I'm planning on opening.  I don't know when yet because Jesse's funding it and I still feel like death.  But it's coming to fruition sometime in the near future.  Oh, it's a tattoo shop. So.  If anyone else is a tattoo artist, or an artist who is interested in apprenticing for me and learning how to tattoo, drop me a line and we can figure something out.

I also dropped off Yosuke's clothes, but he wasn't at the Tower Apartments so I just left them at the front desk.  Hopefully you got them Yosuke?  When I'm feeling better you should let me get you lunch or something.  I owe you an actual thank you for everything.

I guess I have a free meal waiting for me when Los Pollos Hermanos opens.

This is becoming a list of random shit and I'm getting nauseous again so I'm going to lay down for a while.

But, feel free to drop me a line.

[This is Larry standing at the foot of the stairs of his house, beside the life-size statues of Phoenix and Edgeworth, his two best friends who have long since left the Port (again). His head is bowed and he looks strangely thoughtful. The NV is perched somewhere some distance away so that you can see much of Larry and the statues.]

Well...if there's one thing I'm thankful for, it's my friends. All the friends I've met in the Port, and back home. [He brightens up a little bit.] Like...really, really thankful. I've met a lot of 'em.

[A pause. Larry grips something he wears around his neck - the round orange pendant he had been wearing for several months now.]

That's why...some time ago, I made a wish.

[He cups the gem in his hands, and it morphs into something more ornate and egg-shaped, shining with a dazzling orange light. The light spreads all over his body and he closes his eyes as if asleep as his clothes change - his jacket becomes a tailcoat, his shirt becomes a vest and a cravat (with a small orange gem mounted in the center), his trousers become breeches tucked into boots high as his thighs...and when the transformation is complete, he is clutching a six-foot orange halberd with a mean-looking edge - which he quickly moves away from Phoenix's spiky head.

Suddenly Larry looks a little more confident, even breaking into a confident grin.]

'Bout time I told you guys. I became a Puella Magi to protect my friends, and I kept it a secret 'cause I thought someone might get hurt by a witch or something if they found out. But...I dunno, witches don't seem to do that sort of thing. [He scratches his head with his free hand.] Besides, it was pretty hard to keep this sort of thing under wraps.

I have to fight witches from now on, but I don't mind if it means having the power to protect the people I know!
