[It's late. There's some background noise, distant, muffled, sounding very vaguely like music- he's on break at Purgatory. A self-assigned one, manager's prerogative.]

You know the phrase "your life flashing before your eyes"? Supposedly right before you die, when this moment of self-reflection just- hits you?

Can we talk about how preposterous that is? Yeah, because imminent death would really trigger that exact reaction- an intense fast-cut montage with percussive sound effects, you know, to really heighten the tension. Or some cockamamie Lifetime dream sequence where all these fuzzy filler memories float past you in soft focus.

Don't get me wrong, that's poetic, but-

-and there's another thing. It's supposed to happen in order, from when you were born right until then. But, come on. Is that how you think about yourself- from start to finish, as if that's the only pattern that could possibly happen within a lifetime?

I don't think so. [His voice gets quiet.] I think it's more complicated than that.

Maybe I'm just in a bit of a strange mood, but, I want to know - what are you thankful for?

I'm thankful that we, as Newcomers, have each other. And I invite any of you who've just turned up on this dreadful island to please feel free to ask me anything you'd like about life here. I'm sort of an expert.

[Franz looks thoughtful, and then amused.]

I suppose I'm also thankful that I got all of my shopping done ahead of time.

But...

[His eyes drift downward thoughtfully.]

But the people here can be pretty cool. It's the people, not the city, that are worth protecting.

[Bigby's voice is a little harsher when he talks today, a little tighter. Older. Harder.] I'm not usually big on sharing, or storytelling, but that's exactly what I'm here to do today. Call it wild hair up my ass.

There's a place called Israel back in my world. Here's what you need to know about it: Israel is a tiny country surrounded by much larger countries dedicated to its eventual total destruction.

Israel stays alive by being a bunch of tough little bastards who make the other guys pay dearly every time they do anything against Israel. Some in the wider world constantly wail and moan about the endless cycle of violence and reprisal. But since the alternative is non-existence, the Israelis seem determined to keep at it. They have a lot of grit and iron. I'm a big fan of them.

I've done a lot of wondering this past week about what would happen if our little group adopted the Israel template in whole. You can no doubt guess that in that scenario, certain groups would play the part of the vast powers arrayed against us.

Every time they hurt us, we'd damage them much worse in return. It would always happen. Always. They would be the only ones who could end the cycle. They have entire empires to protect. Businesses, transports, research facilities. They could guard a thousand likely targets and there would still be a million ripe, unprotected targets open for a hit.

Interesting to think about.

Organizing is imperative. We won't accomplish anything by staying scattered and in a panic.

First and foremost, I need you all to come forward here and give the name of anybody who's gone missing this week. So far, I have a list of six names.

[She folds her hands on her desk and leans in, expression intensifying- but still unusually cold. Like a hunter, not an impassioned loved one.]

...think I'm going to let you intimidate me, you faggy little nobody? Let me set something straight for you, okay, you're a newcomer and a glorified dressmaker. I don't give a shit what you think you saw because it doesn't mean shit.

[and a calm, cool, familiar voice - ] What I saw was you using your powers to illegally charm my fellow female employees. I had wondered why I couldn't figure out your ability before. It only works on the opposite sex, doesn't it? Is that how you were able to convince Mdme. Depaul to sign Marées Bleues over to you?

The old biddy was old news, and old news gets moved over for new news. That's the way of the world. I saved this company. We have new contracts, a new lingerie line -

Then you admit it. [Uryuu's voice tightens.] You're despicable -

[Here's a face the network hasn't seen in a while. Riku's back to looking more and more like the kid he was when he arrived, though he's grown and definitely looks older. He's sitting near the Newcomer Memorial, glancing around at the stones. For those with keen eyes, they might notice a name beside where he's sitting: Kei Yuki.]

Two years ago, I showed up at that diamond just like everyone else.

[He gives the camera a knowing smile.]

Hearing a lot of these stories lately, haven't we, Siren's Port? But I'll skip over it, since it's not important, and since Joe has already recounted what happened our first few nights here. A lot's happened since then but I'll never forget that first night I was here, or that first week.

[He shifts, glancing back at the memorial he sits by.]

Every month, I go down to the diamond to clean off all those things people call us...and every month, there's more right back up. People have told me that it's a lost cause and that I might as well leave it alone. But I don't want to. I don't want people to think they have us beaten, that they can walk all over us and do what they want. It's been over two years and we still haven't all gone and there were people before us, people still in the city. We're not the first ones here.

[Riku turns back and locks eyes with the camera.]

Someone tried to ruin this memorial today. They were going to spray paint over some of the names, like they were trying to erase what's here and who used to be around.

[It hits something in him. The names in the memorial are the ones he's collected but, more importantly, what really angers him is that defacing the stone is like trying to erase the memories of the people who once inhabited Siren's Port. And that's something he refuses to stand for, above all else.]

If we're really not the first Newcomers here, then why is nothing else around? Why was there no political party, no memorial, no safe house...nothing? Did they try to erase all of that too, so no one would remember that they were once Newcomers? Or did they try harder to become integrated people so no one would hurt them anymore?

[He frowns.]

It just...doesn't make much sense to me. Why would you purposely try to erase important memories like that and try to forget all that's happened?

[When the feed turns on, Raul is sitting at his office at the Newcomer Community Center, seeing as he trashed his office at Lion's Gate, and it's being rebuilt now.]

First of all, I'd like to welcome all of our recent arrivals to the city of Siren's Port. My name is Raul Creed, and I am the head of the Newcomer Political Party, as well as General Manager of Lion's Gate, here in the city. I realize and understand that this is a tough transitional period for everyone, but I hope that you all know that, no matter what, the NPP is here to help out in any way we can. If you are looking for a job, Lion's Gate is always hiring. We're looking for kitchen, security, wait staff, and bartenders. If you would like to work nights, then please, let me know. The Community Center is also here to help Newcomers out.

[He leans forward a little, hands folded on the desk.]

And speaking of the Community Center, that is the large building a block away from the baseball diamond. The Newcomer Clinic is also at the Community Center, so if you are in need of medical attention, and would prefer not to go to SP General or Skye Medical Center, there is that. All emergencies should go to either hospital, though.

I would also like to let everyone know that the Community Center will be holding a variety of lessons on different subject matters. Re-l Mayer is running those, so it is safe to say that they will be up and running by the end of the month. If anyone wishes to teach a class or two, contact her for details.

[He pauses now, leaning forward and picking up the NV. Walking to the window, he holds it in front of him, showing the city streets spread out from the center's window.]

In more important news, the governor has finally allowed a Newcomer Office to be made within the current system of government. This is a great step forward towards Newcomer rights, and I do wish to aware everyone that our status in the city will hopefully be rising in the future. The governor is letting us have elections to decide who we should put in this Newcomer Office, so be on the look out for possible candidates. For elections, if you wish to vote, you need to become a citizen.

Which is where the Community Center comes in, again. A few months back, we held citizen tests for any Newcomer who wished to become a citizen of this city. The NPP will be holding these tests again, and anyone who would like to become a citizen of the port will be allowed to take the tests, no matter the age or length of time spent in the city. The citizen tests will be on March 21st, and on March 20th we'll be holding a class for anyone wanting to take the tests. I want to stress that becoming a citizen of the port does not mean you are giving up your citizenship of your home country or world. Citizenship here means more benefits for everyone, as well as being counted as a full member of this city. It makes it much harder for the companies to kidnap someone and get away with it, if the person is a citizen.

Back home, citizenship was the highest honor given to an immigrant. I hope that everyone here will take advantage of this opportunity, as we're not sure when it'll come again.

I am neither condoning, condemning, nor confirming actions, at this time.

However. I am asking that all who are leaving the House of Awesome do so by noon today.

All belongings left behind will be stored and returned to their rightful owners, at mutually agreed upon times and places.

Big, epic speeches aren't really a thing when you're shaking with rage, but Castiel already covered the murdering aspect, so she needs something else to get her disapproval across, but she still keeps it short and simple.
