[The first thing you see is a white haired boy with red eyes in a sharp black suit. He shakes his head and sits back.] Ok, now important thing to remember. These shades operate based on thought. So don't go turning-

[His brows come down as he sighs.] No, no. Think text function, and it will kick over to translating your thoughts into words.

[He steps out of view before it clicks over.]

see like that
lets get this ready to go
floors yours

[The person Dave is talking to isn't apparent at first; they don't reply verbally while he's speaking, and a few moments after the video feed switches off, more text appears.]

like this? oh!

is it connected? the network

it needs to go there

fyi third person is not the way to go
its connected to the network
just keep going

what?

[She doesn't really get it, but instead of waiting, she posts the pictures she took of the monster that's been attacking people, but the most important one is this one.]

heartless picture under the cut )

this thing is what's been attacking people. It attacked me, and I think it might have killed Ino. I dont know who else has been attacked.

Guns dont work on it. knives don't work on it. Im not sure what does. it was so fast

If you see it you need to escape

if you have any information about it
dont talk about it on here
come see us face to face
because crazy idea here
it might be someone on the network thats behind this and anyone can see this info
seems really dumb to blather it all out on here

((ooc; Both Dave and Nill will be replying to people!))

[Yosuke isn't smiling. He isn't frowning, either. He's carefully neutral, while he makes his announcement.]

If you're kind of squeamish, you shouldn't watch this.

[And then he counts to five silently. That's long enough, right? It'll have to be.]

I need some help training. I...if I had been training all this time, I could have done more. I thought I could pretend that things around here weren't as screwed up as they are, but I can't. I'm not standing down anymore.

Anyway, I can't pay in cash, but I can offer you a trade.

[With the second hunt and the worrying implications aside Rue almost held back from this... but having something else to focus on is actually a blessing.]

Does anyone know about the cave at Crow's Head beach...? I heard something lives in there.

[Hiccup is busy. It's not often one gets to see him so engrossed in doing things. He appears to be threading something together, maybe even reinforcing the edge of the saddle that usually stays on the dragon's back. As a few more stitches are made, he stops, checking over his work.

It's not long before the Viking boy will find himself with company. A large black shape slinks in behind him, large green eyes glancing over at the NV-rock before the dragon peers over at Hiccup.

The boy doesn't appear to notice, muttering to himself as he goes back to sewing.

Toothless peers over his arm for a few seconds, then pulls back. It's not long before he does so again, this time having come around the other side.

Without looking up, Hiccup wrinkles his nose.
]

Toothless– hey. What are you–

[Green eyes glance to one side, then the other.]

–I'm sorta in the middle of finishing this–

[Big green eyes stare at him a moment before Toothless pulls his head back again. Maybe he's leaving Hiccup alone to finish up?

Seconds pass as Hiccup blinks, checking either side once more. Although slightly puzzled, he eases himself back into his sewing.
]

...Okay. Good boy.

[It's several minutes before the dragon reappears. This time he settles his chin over Hiccup's head. From here he watches a while, and it becomes apparent just how comfortable he's gotten as he yawns and closes his eyes.

And as Hiccup finds himself hunched under the weight of the dragon's head, he sighs. This makes sewing impossible.
]

Really?

[Here is Visser One, posting with her own face for the very first time, businesslike and deadly serious. She seems to be posting from some kind of office- whether home or otherwise is impossible to tell. Everything about her has the air of unimpeachable seasoned authority.]

Well, we've all seen the rash of posts about disappearances in the last three days. [She takes a short, impatient breath, drawing herself up a little more.] Come now, we can't possibly think it's just a coincidence. What did that kind of thinking get us with the virus?

Organizing is imperative. We won't accomplish anything by staying scattered and in a panic.

First and foremost, I need you all to come forward here and give the name of anybody who's gone missing this week. So far, I have a list of six names.

[She folds her hands on her desk and leans in, expression intensifying- but still unusually cold. Like a hunter, not an impassioned loved one.]

We will find them. We'll find them, bring them home, then we'll find the offender and give them exactly what they deserve.

(OOC: feel free to threadjack and make a big mess of this post if you want! Visser One just really wants to see some discussion and organization going on, and so do I.)

[Wow Siren's Port, you're surrounded by leaves! Sunlit greenery everywhere, what magic is this!

Oh hang on, you're in a tree, how awesome is that? You can hear some scrambling as the owner of this NV makes herself comfortable on the branch and then picks it up, the screen coming to focus on Rue's face.]

Hi everybody. [She sounds a little shy, but hey, she's not running away this time.]

I've been here, um... I think over a month now. That's a while, at least it seems to be to me. [Given the high risk she had of not living even another week before;;;]

I know I probably gave people a fright before, but I'm okay now. My name's Rue. I met a lot of kind people after I arrived who helped me out. I like it here, actually, even if it's not perfect. Like everyone's jumping on Newcomers about that missing girl...

But it's nice people are so worried about her, I hope she's found soon. [If at all. Rue's seen too many people lose their children, including her own family.]

I have a question, actually. Um, I promised someone I'd go to school here, so I want to do that.I think the schools here are different than home though, so where should I go?

[A very over-tired Dr. Yumeno has a bleary moment in Skye Medical breakroom, to turn on his NV and address the network with some wearied satisfaction. He looks like he hasn't caught more than catnaps in about a week, dressed in scrubs, a surgical mask pulled down onto his chin.]

SERO's come through well. A breakthrough much quicker than we anticipated, and ... yet not a moment too soon.

Congratulations are due to my colleagues who were able to be a little more involved in the process. We're very grateful for the good news. I'm considering the benefits of trying to get back into research medical and gene vector therapy myself, after seeing just how desperately the Port needs solutions in the field, to advance and adapt medicine for special needs.

Skye has limited resources for that- as those of you who've been with us can probably tell, it's been sort of a patient care zoo. We've been sorely understaffed, and that has shown in lack of patience, supplies, and time. [He winces, this is not something he's looking forward to bringing up, but there's something dogged in his eyes.]

On that note I'd like to apologize on behalf of any incidents I haven't been able to attend to personally. I've had my hands full, and I haven't been able to check in on the status of Newcomer patients as I would usually. If there are any more horror stories floating around of orderlies refusing to change out sheets or bring meals around to you, believe me when I say that as soon as there is time on my hands, I will be bringing that up as unacceptable staff conduct. If I'm to the be mouthy little newcomer tattler doctor on staff- well, they haven't sacked me yet and I may as well go down fighting for the things I set out to change here.

If
there has been any discrimination going on, if anyone has been denied the basic rights of public health care, I urge you to seek legal representation here on the network and also to give me some idea of what was going on and where, so I can speak to my own supervisors as an advocate on your behalf.

But I'm sure what you're all waiting to hear about is cure distribution procedures, so I'm going to address that for a bit-

Skye Medical's just received the first batch of the injection serum an hour ago, and SERO promises more at both city hospitals as soon as they can manufacture it. As far as I'm aware, SPGH is following the same distribution procedure, in needs-based triage stages: first to our patients in critical care, then to hospitalized patients by order of day of admission .... except admitted newcomers without previous medical records, who will likely receive the last batch before going to stage 3, public distribution at the Hospital Walk-in Clinics and the Stadium Quarantine. [That exception does not sit well, by the way his mouth is pursed]

I've been on the phone with the city CDC for the last hour, and it seems we've also been slated last for cure distribution at the Newcomer Center Clinic. I've been told we can expect to receive limited dosages June 6th at the earliest, and that we must shell out for it ourselves as a private health care provider.  ....nevermind that we are non-profit!

So- [There is a briskness to his abrupt sigh, a thinly veiled frustration. It has been a very trying hour on the phone.] My advice to those of you still waiting for the cure at home is to wait till the second day of Stage 3 release, which they're tentatively forecasting for June 3rd or 4th. Come to Skye Medical's 24 hr clinic, or SPGH's public distribution center. Arrive early after morning siren, be prepared to wait. While in line, if you are questioned by anyone other than a medical professional about your citizen status, please try your damnedest to pass yourself off as a local. [ Disgusted, Daedalus looks aside.]   (Two years, and this is what 'progress' gets us...)

Thank you again for bearing with us. I'm trying my best. I'll be available for a little while, to answer any questions.

As everyone is delicately tip-toeing around what a few select people have figured out, let me spell it out for you, for the individuals who lack the brain cells to rub together.

It's guilt. The feelings of guilt. Decisions that you regret. Things you've done that you wish you could have done differently. That is what is causing you all to be so sick, why certain people are targeted and certain people are supposedly immune.

If anything, you should stop feeling sorry for yourselves and start wondering why, exactly, some people are so healthy. Those are probably the people you should be watching warily -- because I doubt they're all saints.

In other news, Castiel is in a coma, which I'm sure is a grand surprise to all that know him and have connected piece A with piece B. Stop texting him and calling him. I'm going to feed the NV to my dog shortly if it keeps going off.

The first person to suggest that I take him to a hospital will have their throat cut.

Continue panicking at your leisure. I am going to return to my work.

Hello, Siren's Port. I come before you with a desperate plea.

[Visser One is no fool. First she takes a few hours to scan the networks and sort through enormous amounts of archived data. What she finds is interesting: evidence of Earth mythological figures, inhuman creatures proudly identifying as alien. People obviously from worlds far more advanced than Earth.

Still, she chooses anonymity. No sense in publicly humbling herself and exposing her Achilles Heel.]

I am a new arrival to this world in serious need of help. My species needs a certain kind of sustenance that we can't find outside of our home world.

I need help, or I will die.

I need someone with highly advanced technological capabilities to help me. Fortunately, I have the means to feed myself temporarily, which you can adapt for your purposes in creating a larger generator. Without it, I will starve to death painfully within a week.

Please, I beg you. Compensation will be given in whatever manner I'm capable, once I can concentrate on anything other than survival. I assure you, I am far from helpless, and will pay my debt in full. Anyone who chooses to assure my long-term survival stands to gain much from the bargain.
