2 - [video] After Sirens
[The room is fairly dark, though one can still see the outlines of piles upon piles of battered books. And there is Ergo Proxy, holding a claw to his mask, as if to take it off... But he doesn't.]
For those of you who knew him, Proxy One is no longer in Siren's Port.
[The mask, and the even tone of his rumbling voice make it hard to tell what, if anything, the proxy thinks about this.]
I wonder. We Newcomers are torn from our own lives and our own duties and transplanted into this city. While we're here our lives are on hold and our purposes go unfulfilled. No time might be passing back home, but time still passes for us.
What do you do when you cannot fulfill your purpose?

Are you truly certain he is gone?

And even if they were, how can I condemn them for something that hasn't happened yet?

I don't believe it is entirely chance, that a hybrid of human and proxy has proven more resilient than either species.

It's my purpose to make those who destroyed my world and escaped to the stars face the consequences of the events they set in motion.
[video]
Is there anyway you can get your world back? Isn't there some way you could fix it?

The day I left, the clouds parted for the first time in millenia.

I'm sorry, Vincent.

[Ugh, she's bad at comforting.]
...I'm here, if you need. You're not alone.

... It's just strange, not being able to feel his pulse anymore.

[She pauses, uncertain how to continue.]
I felt the same when you disappeared last time. Everything was quiet.

audio;
audio;
This is more of an obligation than a goal, and I feel it more keenly now that he's gone.
audio;
[ A solemn statement. Sad though it may be, the truth is what it is. ]
There are times that even obligations must give way to a present need.

[ There's a beat; the mask put him at unease for numerous reasons. ]
This Proxy One person, were they a friend?
video
[He pauses to consider his answer.] ... He was of my kind. I suppose you could say we were family, in a sense.
video
[ But then he's always had that tunnel vision. ] ...five thousand years-- Uh.
Won't you be dead? [ A pause. He could not-ask but since when does he ever. ]
Family enough to miss 'im now that he's gone?
[video]
But I suppose it's time for a celebration.
[video]
I thought thanksgiving was last weekend?
[video]
It was. [ugh, facepalming so much.] That's not what we're celebrating.

That's a lot of books! Where are you, Vince?
