- ’Talk Like A Pirate Day’ a Treasure Trove for Liquor Stores, Plunder for Local Gangs
[a comical photo taken shortly before evening closing at a Sector 9 liquor store yesterday has been plastered across the morning news. It shows a man wearing a bandanna, an eye patch and a stuffed parrot on his shoulder, despairing at a sign on empty shelves announcing ‘Sorry Me Maties, All Rum Currently Out of Stock’]
The article goes on to announce that several liquor stores and safes have been broken into last night after sirens, some loosely affiliated but not owned by Afterglow Inc. One casualty of armed gang robbery was Robbie Schenley, the owner of Brown Bag Booze in Sector 9, who lived above the shop where the funny pirate photo now circulating was taken. He came downstairs from his apartment with a shotgun in hand, but in physical altercation with the gang was knocked unconscious, dragged outside and left for dead at the curbside in the darkness.
Lucky for Mr. Schenley, camera footage from the storefront showed the intervention of two unknown figures, one dressed in blacks and another in a tattered cape, chasing off monsters attracted to the noise and defending the victim from harm. The thieves made off with over $6000 in sales from the store’s safe, but Schenley was deposited at Skye Medical Center’s 24 hr ER entrance at 9:25pm and was released this morning with a mild concussion and minor injuries.
An AGI Liquor Control Board spokesperson told press over his morning coffee that the corporate offices “will do everything in their power to help smaller businesses recover from the taxing threats of a bad neighborhood, but some mom and pops snub their nose at our assistance. It’s pretty unfortunate, what happens when people aren’t willing to cooperate.”
