NEWS

- SPU’s Computer Science Department Under Fire For Tech Mayhem!
SPU’s entire Computer Science faculty and a select honors group in the department’s graduating class of majors have been arrested and taken in for further questioning as collaborative suspects for the electronic terrorism that has been plaguing the city over the past week.

[Video shows SPPD officers leading handcuffed suspects out of an interrupted Senior Seminar class]

The Sector 3 precinct and university officials have offered limited details on raid, which included the confiscation of over $400,000 worth of school property (hard drives & other computer equipment). Witnesses were shocked to see over 35 individuals leaving campus this afternoon in squad cars. Half of these suspects were released shortly before evening sirens, but not before SERO’s Chief Executive Officer of Software Design offered to post bail offers on students with the most promising senior projects in progress.

Some are already saying the police have made a huge mistake, and that the students are definitely innocent of the mass conspiracy hacking “prank” they’ve been accused of. Whatever tipoff police have received was erroneous, likely due to circulating network rumors about the close-knit ‘elite’ of SPU’s programming program. One inside source notes that the SPPD has been under pressure from Chief Miller to solve this case quickly, but that surely she will be weeding out the ranks heavily following this embarrassment.

- NEW TO-GO SELF-HEATING SOUP CUP PRODUCT AVAILABLE!
SERO has just released a line of single serving hearty soups and stews in a disposable container which is self-heating with the pull of a simple activation strip, cooking the soup throughout and retaining a hot temperature for up to an hour. Already confident with projected sales, SERO also announced that it would no longer be importing Campbell's Soup-to-Go or Nissin Instant Cup Noodles as of Mid-October, effectively monopolizing the market with its own local brand. Independent entrepreneur of Food Truck Stu's Stew's, however, claims he'll continue to ladle up healthy competition.

SERO Soup2Go has a demo station featured prominently at all island supermarkets and SEROnex Pharmacies this week.

This is all that Pinkman kid's fault. [ She sounds absolutely livid, and a little insane. That comes with arriving somewhere after, presumably, being knocked out and brought here against her will. Waking up in the fetal position on a rundown baseball diamond wasn't very fun, either. She had already met her Greeter, and after getting the 'basics' that she didn't agree with, she's ready to meet the network. ]

Yes, I know it's you! You and your- your drug dealing buddies kidnapped Walt, and now you think you can do the same with me? I don't think so. I am going to call the police right now. Hank. The FBI. Kidnapping is illegal, but not as illegal as dealing drugs. [ Wait- she might have her facts mixed up. She'll apologize for that when she's in a more sound mental state. Actually, no she won't ]

You better stay away from my family, or else.

[A video begins to play over the Network and you're looking up at a red-headed woman who is panting heavily and - most certainly - in the Darkness.]

I thought the Greeter was bullshitting me, to be honest. [Is she really having a conversation while she's running away from a monster? There's nothing else to the video as she dodges a few more monsters. It seems like nearly five minutes pass until the video finally reveals light and an air-tight door shutting in the background with a hiss. Natasha's face is covered in a thin film of sweat.]

So what's this place all about? I knew something was off from that cheery greeting I got this afternoon and the really nice packet I got with the apartment. You can only fool so many people with pretty stationary and big bold headers.

Kevin Ford's NV is offline and Mimsy is gone.

I seem to be living alone now.

At the same time, two people I know from home are in the Port. Strange how things work here.

[The camera is pretty close to Anya's face from the start. She pulls it out a little, trying to keep herself in frame. It's still daytime, thankfully, but Anya looks pretty pale and queasy, and the large bandage on her forehead certainly doesn't help.]

Whoever created this dimension, you didn't do a very good job. I can tell this isn't my reality, which is a novice mistake, really. Well. Unless this is a Hell dimension you summoned me to.

[She looks around, checking for anything vaguely hellish.]

It certainly doesn't seem like a Hell dimension. Not many Hell dimensions have baseball. And if you did summon me, in case you haven't heard, I've given up on the whole vengeance business. No vengeance at all. 100% vengeance free.

[She waits a few seconds more, hoping she'll just be taken away already.]

I know the Slayer, you know. Or- Well. I knew- It's complicated, and I'd rather not talk about- I also know witches! Powerful witches. Powerful, lesbian witches. So, send me back! Or I'll unleash their lesbian fury upon you.

[The NV seems to have come on by itself. It's laying neatly on the table. In the shot, the kitchen is visible.]

It's obscene. I don't need all this... I...

[Enjolras is packing some groceries that came from a greeter into his fridge. He becomes distracted when he sees the light inside of it. Setting the food inside of the fridge, he closes the door.]

What's that... an electric light? I...

[He closes the door, and opens it again. Then closed, then open, examining whether or not the light stays on or off.

Then, he opens it, and the light is blinding, filling the room with a bright white light.]

A'IIIIEEEEEEEEEEEE

[Enjolras falls over backwards, blinded.]

My name is John Baum.

[While he’s recently discovered to have found himself in Canada, in a town that doesn’t seem to exist, John is still reluctant to give his last name. He doesn’t know if his enemies are here and isn’t going to risk the chance. So for now, everyone will know him as Baum and not Connor.]

I’m sort of new to Siren’s Port. [He didn’t come here by choice, doesn’t want to be here, but he might as well learn more about this town.] I received the newcomer letter, but I have a feeling there’s still a lot it’s not telling me.

If anyone here is willing to give me a bit more information, especially those Darkness monsters, it would really help me out a lot.

Thanks.

[When the feed comes on all there is is darkness and the sound of fabric against a microphone. It only lasts a moment however as the darkness suddenly gives way to a view of socks and tights in a sock drawer (one belonging to a certain duck girl), currently being turned into a nest by none other that Kyubey. Amidst the socks he settles himself, reaching out with a paw to knock the NV closer.]

People come and people go. They live and die and that's it for them. Usually. Well, another version of them will continue to exist in an alternate dimension parallel to the one they originated from, but that's making things overly complicated. The fact is that once someone dies, that specific individual is fated to remain dead.

But that's not the case here.

People die and then return to this place with their memories intact or else they arrive here from having been dead before. I've always found this utterly fascinating, now more so than before.

[A little ear twitches as he nestles more into the sock drawer.]

So tell me! I'm curious. What is it like to die? To truly die. What does it feel like to meet death and remember it? What does it make you feel?

Would you wish to live forever if you could?
