-The SPPD released a statement today reminding citizens of the current dangers of the Darkness invading daylight hours after numerous incidents of youths taking foolhardy risks have been reported in the last day or so. Such acts as daring each other to run through an area of shadow or poking at the creatures with sticks is extremely dangerous. "They don't think that the monsters could just grab the other end and yank them in." SPPD officer Seras Victoria was quoted saying after intervening to save one teenager.

The public is reminded that for their own safety they should avoid contact with any shadowed areas and stay indoors as much as possible.

[ Dexter has a blanket wrapped around him. He's in what seems to be a small office, the glow of a computer screen accenting his features. ] Never thought I'd miss summer in Miami. A high of eighteen degrees? Are you serious? [ He scrunches his face up. ] In June?

Brr. Anyhow, I just wanted to let you all know that my job is officially the worst with all these daylight darkness attacks. Have you tried doing blood spatter when it's been corrupted by the darkness? No, I guess not. I love a challenge as much as the next guy, but I like it a lot more when my job is easy. Less paperwork for one thing.

[ A pause; he hesitates because he isn't sure he wants to talk about this at all, it makes it a little too real. But he doesn't like feeling abnormal, because it draws undue attention to him, and it needs to be addressed. ] Still haven't shown any sign of having one of these supposed 'superpowers' yet. There should be a clinic for that, right? Like for testing?

[Here's a teenaged boy sitting up cross-legged on the lower bunk in his sweatpants, bare-chested, silvery hair still all bedraggled, rubbing at his eyes in hopes of getting his act together and finally getting started on the day. Nevermind that it's already past noon, and he's only just now hauling himself awake.

Last night's monster footage is all fuzzy and no good, considerably less awesome once looking it over without the adrenaline high to boost his ego, so he's feeling a little bit discouraged.]

Has anybody got a decent night vision camera I could maybe borrow? I'm working on a project. People have been saying Darwin's gone, and so it's either up to us or SERO to keep track of what's out there in the darkness. I'd rather it be us.

I mean....Darwin's like a hero to this city, so... what better time to follow in his footsteps, right? Also if you've got any tips on where to look for monsters that aren't in the guide yet- Or where I can get better gear for this kind of thing. [There's a magazine open across the rumpled sheets beside him- a catalog of equipment for 'the intrepid darkness explorer.' It's fancy stuff for the 'pro' deadly adrenaline junkie, some of it hi-tech devices, some bits of well-designed body armor, traps and light-sticks and survival gear, and all of it way out of his price range. But a boy can dream, right?]

The darkness has been acting weird- that's easy enough to see for anybody who's stepped outside lately, but I'm talking about the trouble at 24 last week, and that other AGI club that had a pool monster show up the other night. It's almost like they're getting what's been coming to them. [He yawns, snatches up his NV, and pads out towards the livingroom, where his friends have already headed out for the day- but two cats wend around his ankles, yowling hopefully for lunch.]

...Also, if anybody's got some parties coming up, or anything they need a DJ for? I could really use the cash and shot to get my name out there. I can even make custom ice cream flavors for your gig in a party bucket, for extra. [Oh. So that is an industrial ice cream machine in the corner of their otherwise-crammed apartment kitchen.] Or you could just drop in at S.S. Kahve coffeeshop, where we've got the daily special there too.

I know the weather hasn't exactly started feeling like summer around here yet, but maybe we've gotta give it a little push to work with us. Go see a ballgame. Or do something fun. Maybe the only way to beat these shadows is to prove we can still live with them, instead of holing up inside.

[The NV is on, for all that there is silence in the background. There's no sound, no breathing, no moving or walking to be heard. This goes on for a minute, almost two, before someone finally speaks into the device.]

Ritsuka Aoyagi has died.

[For all that the news will be devastating to those who knew Ritsuka, Riku's voice is decidedly calm, hollow as he speaks. It's probably taken him some time to even say this much to the network about what's happened only an hour or so prior to the post. He doesn't know if he can bring himself to talk about the details or what possibly transpired, though he knows he should.]

Those patches of Darkness... Someone said he was caught.

[A lie, he suspects. One he'll be looking into, if only to find out who saw it happen, who left him to die alone, so that he'll finally have someone else to blame besides himself.

He lapses into silence again before he speaks once more, regarding the NV and its open post as an afterthought.]

I'm sorry.

[And then he turns off the device.]

It's been a long time since I have had the chance to write up one of our cases and I might be a little rusty, but here it is: The Guilt Complex!

Hopefully it has everything the press neglected to mention when the story made the headlines. And it could be a distraction from this "daylight darkness" stuff that has been going on lately too. Blackheath has been all skittery when we go for a walk... and after reading about that cat, I don't really blame him. I can only hope those kids have learnt their lesson too.
