- Strange happening continued yesterday, mutation typically only seen at night attacking civilians within the shadows of buildings, trees and bus stops. The SPPD is calling this "another public state of emergency".

Still no word from Darwin Watts, darkness expert, though several of SERO’s leading Darkness Theorists will speak about the Daylight Decay crisis at a special Academic Symposium at Hilldale University Today, open to the public at 3pm in Stone Hall. They believe that the evolving phenomenon may shed more light on the nature of the After-Siren Darkness Effect itself.

In the meantime, Citizens are advised to keep their Residential Darkness Proofing in good condition, Stay indoors with windows and blinds tightly closed, and avoid shaded areas.

[Optional A pair of locals with wall-climbing abilities, still blaming newcomers for the missing girl, will be engaging in Hate-Crime Vandalism and will try to tamper with darkness proofing window and air-conditioning units in the Tower Apartments and any other known newcomer residences in the sector. Tap water supply throughout the city may also experience water problems typical of the darkness.

More Details Here! If you’d like to submit some news on local happenings as a result of monsters in the streets and shadowed alleyways during the day, please submit!]

[Ichigo's in a park, dressed casually. It's early morning, but there's families out in the park. A little boy is playing soccer with his brother within the line of the NV's camera. A man, their father from the looks of things and the family resemblance, is playing with them.

Ichigo's drinking something hot from a paper cup, looking thoughtful as he does so.]

I guess today's Father's Day. You know, it's probably a good thing my old man can't call here or he'd be complaining that I didn't get him anything. He's a pain in the ass like that.

[One of the boys throws his soccer ball at their father, laughing happily. For a second, Ichigo looks over at them, then shrugs.]

I dunno. I reckon I've got a good excuse.

[There's a sudden shout from the boys as another person joins their party carrying a picnic basket, and Ichigo turns to look again. Their cries of 'Mom!" make her identity immediately recognisable, as does the way the two boys throw themselves at her like eager puppies. She's laughing as she ruffles the hair of one of them and kisses her husband's cheek.

Ichigo looks away and picks up his coffee.]

I don't think he'd blame me today.

[In a clearing somewhere in Sector 7, Terra kneels before a shrine of sorts. The 'shrine' consists of little more than a sword stand decorated with bits of metal and stained glass. In front of it, four tea light candles are set up in square glass holders. Three of the candles are lit. To the left of the candles is a dish filled with strawberries.

A wooden replica of a Keyblade lies across the stand itself.

On Terra's lap, lying parallel to the wooden blade, is his own Keyblade. Terra's busy cleaning his weapon with a strip of cloth.]

One of the instructors at the academy told me that everything happens for a reason. I've been thinking about that lately and I'm not sure I believe it. There's a lot of things in my life that I can't find any reason for, no matter how hard I look. But that instructor is a very wise man... He wouldn't just make things up. So I figure maybe it's true for some people and not for others. Maybe for some people, things just happen for no reason at all.

Maybe some people were brought to this world for a reason and others weren't. Maybe it's even a mistake that some people are here.

[Light flares somewhere off-camera: Terra did think to set up a defensive spell to try and shield himself from any of those daytime shadow monsters.]

Master Aqua has left the city again. I know she was working at a magic school. I'm sorry for the inconvenience her absence probably poses to her coworkers and students.

[He glances up then, trying to remember what else it was he'd meant to say... Oh, right.]

I hope everyone's getting a chance to honor their fathers today. [He nods absently.] It's a nice holiday.

[Backdated to earlier today!

Roxy's got her NV propped up against the mirror of her dresser, and any current viewers may see something a little strange. The sixteen-year-old girl is wearing a fake mustache (one stolen from her roommate) and is currently twirling it around her finger in an almost nefarious manner.]

Sweet! I look pretty hot as a dude, no? Gotta thank Crocker for this totally rad 'stache.

AHEM. [She clears her throat.] Happy Father's Day to all the daddies out there. Cheers! Go out and do something fun with your kids. Go golfing or some shit, IDK.

Anyway, I'm no dad, but I gotta make sure my daughter doesn't feel left out today! [She raises her voice considerably at this point.] So Rose, my dahlin'. I really mustache you a question, hehehe.

And yeah, I know that was corny as fuck, but dads are allowed to do that, so deal with it!

[And this is Roxy, embarrassing her daughter forever, over and out.]

[ The first thing anyone’s going to see is a rather simple and empty looking kitchen with only half-decent lighting. The appliances and bare countertops are about all that’s visible from this angle, though it’s clear the blinds to the small half-window above the sink aren’t opened as the sill is right there in plain sight. There are footsteps and rustling sounds heard in the background, and then a couple of female voices are heard growing nearer with each scuffle of steps. ]

I think we can put this -- over in this corner!

[ The first voice sounds a little bit strained at points, where there’s turning and hoisting involved at the same time. It’s not until then that a flash of red, then a flash of blonde, are visible for a second as two female figures set a box down on the counter opposite where the NV is positioned. ]

Whatcha think?

I’m okay to put it there. Definitely.

[The second voice is noticeably less strained. Though there is a tiny bit of panting. There’s a kerfuffle as the sound of tables and chairs echoes a little in the empty kitchen.]

Table here?

[There’s the sound of table and chairs moving again. Though the women don’t appear to have moved at all.]

Or here?

cut for length blah blah blah tealdeers live here! )

(( ooc; BLUE is Buffy! ORANGE is Willow!

Tagging in can happen and replies will come from both Buffy and Willow, probably separately! It may be ‘later’ when replies come in an IC-timeframe because of their moving-in-ness, as well. ))

[ For the first time, Aurican optioned for audio as he is mulling over a topic that never quite came to him before until now, and he rather not if anyone read any of his expressions and have the wrong impression. There are other sounds, such as the heavy breathing of his massive lungs or the sound of waves crashing into the surf. ]

I never considered holidays. When I was growing up, I was secluded from the world. I knew nothing of open skies and forests, of deer and birds and people creating their own cultures, and I learned on how to measure time from the elves eventually after spending several centuries with them.

My mother died centuries before I hatched. A god was my father, but I never really knew him - only that his purpose was the result of my own creation. Still, I never met him. There were only my nestmates for company and the bats for food. But a man by the name of Patersmith came one day and taught me everything. He told stories about my mother, my father, and taught me and my kin everything we need to learn before one day we flew out of that cave and saw the sun for the first time. He raised us as though we were his own children, and we thought of him as our father.

So a day to set aside to think of our fathers - well, I have lived for almost six thousand years now, and not once have I really genuinely celebrated a holiday. Neither Patersmith nor Paladine are here for me to -

[ A younger voice interrupted Aurican with a "hey!" ]

Yes?

Yeah, you! How about you give it up and let go of the girl?

[ There is a long pause as Aurican mulls this demand over. In the meantime, it was obvious that the man who interrupted Aurican isn't alone. ]

I am afraid I am not entirely certain what you are referring to. Are you speaking of the missing girl Violet?

Don't play dumb, Newcomer. Monsters always get what they deserved.

[ There's a rumble deep within his chest, clearly unamused. ]

I'm afraid that playing dumb is impossible for me to do so as a dragon. And clearly you and your friends must be very brave to face me . . . or is it foolhardiness? It won't do if you let both pride and fear to dictate your actions. That's how wars are created.

[ He says this gently, but it is very clear of his harsh intent. ]

Leave me. The sun will start to set soon, and I don't want to see you to be caught by the Darkness.

[ The man sputters. ] Is that a threat?

[ Before Aurican remembers himself and turns off the now eavesdropping NV, he replies flatly to the man: ] The forces of Darkness always threatens, haven't you known that by now?

[There's a few lamps on in the room, but otherwise it seems to be completely dark, which makes sense, considering the time of night. Mr. Gold is sitting at a desk, the camera pointing up from it's surface, polishing what appears to be an antique silver tea set.]

I realize this may be a bit redundant, but it's been some time since I arrived, here. Almost a complete month. [He shakes his head, setting a cup down and picking up another one.]

And Father's Day is today, though I am catching the tail end of it. I guess I had some bad memories stirred up. It's very difficult, to be in a city without your children, or to be a child without your parents. The idea of the "orphan hero" is a main focus for many tales. Personally, I've never found living a life without one's family to be better then being with them.

[He sighs, picking up the tea pot, next.]

Getting settled in here has been much easier then I thought it might be. I began work at this pawnshop (named "Pawntificate", such a silly name), and then the next week, the owner was jailed for fraud. Imagine, thousands of dollars given for such beautiful pieces, and then they turned out to be fake. Perhaps he should have learned how to tell the difference between a real work of art and a phony.

But... that leaves the place to me. I was thinking of changing the name to "Crossroads", seeing as it's located at an intersection, and I have a fondness for those sorts of tales. A place to make deals; is that not what a Pawnshop offers? I think I'll keep the name as it is, for now. Call it superstition on my part.

I'm looking for workers, if anyone is interested. Call Mr. Gold, and I'll be happy to speak to you. [He smiles.] And if you happen to know anyone looking to sell a priceless heirloom... do give me a call. Happy Father's Day, everyone.

[John's never really been a fan of Father's Day. However, the very pointed recent absence of one child, and cake from a girl who isn't even his daughter has John unusually chatty and pensive about this whole thing.]

never really got the idea of father's day. what's the point of taking one day to thank your father when you should be taking every day?

then there's the assholes who don't deserve it at all.

[The problem here is he's not sure which camp he actually belongs in.]

anyway, happy father's day.

[The feed flips on to give a great view of a rapidly approaching wall, which it promptly crashes into, then the floor where it lands. There's the sound of a voice, speaking rapidly in a strange language--Enochian, for the beings in the Port familiar with it--then silence for a few moments until the NV is picked up.]

Oh. It was the NV.

[He mutters the comment quietly to himself; the screen is still aimed off to the side, but there's a flash of Castiel's trench coat and it's definitely his voice. The feed flips to audio, and Castiel actually addresses it this time.]

I encountered a creature in the Darkness earlier today and it's having... Sensory distorting effects.

[In other words, he's hallucinating, and the Core's flipping of some types of perception isn't helping. He may or may not have run into a Pox Pollen Mushroom. Blame Crowley.]

Does anyone know how long such effects might last?

[Guess who hasn't read the Darkness guide out of a general sense of 'I'm an angel nothing can hurt me?' This guy.]

[[ooc: For those that understand Enochian, his words are mostly jumbled minor curses and general 'get away from me.' Similar to what anyone might say if their NV looked like a giant whip scorpion with a vampire bat face and huge doll eyes.]
