[Locked to newcomers only]

You’ve no doubt noticed the events of the last day repeating themselves. You may or may not know that this oddity is not confined to the port – the movement of the entire planet is affected.

I’ve come to understand that all manner of impossibilities are common in the Port, as well as in some of your native universes. However, I personally cannot tolerate this situation much longer. Anyone else who is concerned over the current state of affairs and believes they may contribute to seeking a solution is cordially invited to discuss the issue at a luncheon tomorrow, at the Oxham House.

[Attached are directions on how to get to the House, on the beach between sectors 4 and 7.]

If you plan to attend, please reply for headcount purposes, including any dietary restrictions you may have.

[OOC: The long is here. The discussion no doubts goes on for several hours, so if your character can't be there in the middle of the day, feel free to toss them in and say they arrived later. Replying here is strictly optional - I can certainly handwave the House making the correct number of sandwiches, but if you want to discuss something here rather than there, that's fine too.]

[Hey, Siren’s Port. Look who’s back. Hitsugaya doesn’t look much different, save for the new haircut and the scarf he’s got on with his captain’s uniform. You might not assume he’s been gone for more than a few days in his world. Though that assumption would be wrong.

[He waves his free hand dismissively to someone off screen, speaking to them dispassionately.]
Unnecessary. I’ve been here before; I know how things work. Talk to someone who needs it.

[That being said, he addresses the network directly.] The time loop has been corrected, I hope?

For those that know me, I’m fine. And I do remember this place.

[[OOC: Forward-dated to about 8:30AM of the 7th – which lo and behold is actually the 7th! Here’s the tiny taichou, gone since what should have been Saturday, all nicely canon-updated for you.]]

Morning WeatherHigh 7°C and a low of 2°C (43deg;F/36°F)

Current Moon Phase: Waxing Gibbous

Morning sirens go off at 7:41am, and evening sirens are at 5:12 pm.

News Updates

- An unknown Newcomer Core Infiltrator remains at large after evading police yesterday, and will be posted for bounty as soon as the SPPD can turn their new casefiles over to St. Matthew. Meanwhile, Bounty Hunter registration in line with the city’s new Anti-Vigilantism legislation continues to remain in smooth operations at Mugshots Bar.

- A popular core conspiracy blog reports that an additional group of newcomers were seen being escorted to the baseball diamond last night at sirens. The blog’s servers shut down two hours after it’s posting, the content lost, although many suspect that it was removed by the AGI Network which hosts the domain. Several screencaps of the post remain floating around on the network, but the blog’s author has not signed in since to re-post the material or give further details.

-Several newcomer officers of the SPPD are under a required psychiatric evaluation after taking it upon themselves to stall morning commute traffic on Fable Way yesterday morning. Although they seem to be claiming anonymous tip about a potential accident from someone with precognitive powers, many on their way to work were furious with a group of newcomer cops holding up traffic. “This seems a bit uncanny-” reports SPPD psychiatric counselor Marcia Clinesdale, who was trained at SERO’s Eberhardt Institute. “more likely a group conspiracy than a Folie à deux.”

- Knot-A-Fight-Club & Sparks Casino reports record profits from last night’s fighting match, with champion Louis Wales flattening the competition.

A Sparks’ Fight Club Gambling Lounge bartender reports that the place was packed, the successful collaborative tournament bringing much new interest to the Casino, which has suffered a dip in profits in the last quarter. Although renewing their liquor licencing with AGI appears to be helping business, this exciting new televised sporting venue has garners the most interest. Among tournament highlights, newcomer entrant Claire Stanfield, recently cleared of murder charges, was disqualified for suspected cheating with outside help.

Morning WeatherHigh 7°C and a low of 2°C (40deg;F/34°F)

Current Moon Phase: Waxing Gibbous

Morning sirens go off at 7:39am, and evening sirens are at 5:13 pm.

- Several anonymous sources reported a group three to five people in suits entering Governor Townshed's home shortly before sirens on Friday night. They were allegedly accompanied by Calpurnia "Callie" Baker, a distinctive body builder with a shark mutation whose family has long had ties to the deDrago family. According to eye witnesses, the guests were also spotted leaving in a silver SUV shortly after sirens the following morning.

- Position Opening: Sparks Casino is seeking electronic surveillance experts to monitor camera feeds on the casino floor and manage vault security. Technopaths highly preferred. Background check required for no corporate affiliation.

[KOS-MOS flicks on her NV to  show the kitten attacking her heeled boots. And that's the only thing visible for now.]

Is this common?

[No, she hasn't bought him any toys. She's just been giving him food and water. KOS-MOS did get him a litter box too, at least. Just... Pets, what to do?]

Nobody came to claim him. So, I've named him 'Yeshu'.

[You don't get any reasoning behind it. At all. KOS-MOS still objects to keeping the tiny ball of fluff but Mary wanted him. So now the android has a pet. At least she can afford to take care of him, since all she needs is to pay electricity. Leaves plenty of money to spare.]

I am glad that the time loop has been corrected. Although, it seems that the news is being published much more rapidly to make up for the time lost.

[You know that kitten that was playing with her boots? It's climbing her now and shoving his face into the NV.]

Yeshu, this is not a plaything.

[Boop! Said kitten just turned her NV off. Not a problem though, she was done anyway.]

[ Tavi looks absolutely baffled today. For once, he's got a simple agenda on his mind. ]

Can anyone explain what a groundhog has to do with predicting spring? I don't think I follow that train of thought.

...And speaking of, do things like that whole day-repeating happen often? I'm glad it's over, but if it's likely to happen again I'd at least like to be more unsurprised.

I still don't understand how this place is supposed to make any sense.

Wow, I'm really glad that's over! It got sort of frustrating, having the same day happen over and over, especially since nobody at school believed me. I'm glad it's really the seventh today, though! I guess that means it's almost Valentines Day. Almost my birthday, too.

[She shifts on the bed where she sits, drawing her legs up towards her until her cheek can rest on her kneecaps while her head is turned to look at the camera.]

You know, there was this boy I knew back home who would've known just what to do about the time loop thing. I mean, not that everyone didn't do a really good job, but... He was really smart. Really brave, too. I know he would've done anything for the people he cares about. He made me feel like there I could do anything, too. He was the kind of person that gave me hope when it didn't seem like there was any. Even if he's not here, he's still one of the most important people to me. There's not a day I stop thinking of him. Even if I can't talk to him for a while, though, I think it's okay. Because he didn't just make me happy when he was around. I feel like I'm still really warm inside because I got to meet him! I think it's really important to remember, too, though.

Did anyone else have someone that special to them back home? I'd like to hear about it!

[She pauses, looking like she's about to say something else. Instead, she reaches to the device and turns it off.]

[ooc: Forward dated to after all the time stuff goes completely back to normal!]

So is that the time loop fixed, then? Thank goodness for that.

Guess this means I can finally hand in my application for the SPPD. Made the mistake of filling it out at first on the second, course the thing was blank again the next -- er, same day. [She laughs a little.]

And they stopped that traffic accident from happening, that's brilliant! Guess good can come of any situation.

I am thankful I won't have to hear anything again about that bleeding groundhog, though.

Madame Jurie’s column, which appears regularly on the Sunday newsfeed, has been pulled from publication this week at Jurie’s request, with a hastily printed note of apology from the editor and a few extra sudoku puzzles to entertain you. Curiously enough, several other regular editorial columns also appear to be missing in today’s print newspapers. Independent blogging sources suggest that local mainstream press sources are undergoing rigorous editorial review. But right down to the astrology section?

Of course, there’s no lack of...

- CELEBRITY GOSSIP NEWS: Leah Loves 'Em and Leaves 'Em!-
It's true, gossip hounds! The Port's most popular party girl Azalea "Leah" Keelson is single again! Leah announced on her blog last night that she and Newcomer artist Larry Butz are Splitsville! "So glad to be rid of Larry," Leah wrote as a footnote on her update. "I thought he was deep and profound-- but he really made me feel like I was stuck in a rut."

This news apparently comes as a shock to Butz, who had no idea that the couple were broken up until the blog entry went public! We tried to reach him for comment, but got no answer. Stay tuned for an exclusive interview with the latest in Leah's long line of jilted lovers!

Though it's apparently no big loss for Leah-- she was out partying again last night, and had a new man on her arm too! "Leah was chatting with this one guy almost the whole night," reported her scandalized friend, Marissa Miguel. "An older man with dark hair in a really nice suit. But that's all I know about him-- he was definitely sugar daddy age!"

- The reports of suspicious visitors to the Townshed home Friday night were redacted by all major news outlets. The visitors were in fact a crack team of party planners from JoyMakers Inc. (a subsidiary of AGI), helping the governor to plan a surprise birthday party for his mother at the only time his busy schedule permitted. The administration thought it best to stop the spread of unpleasant rumors, even if it did mean ruining the surprise. Various sources also confirmed that Callie Baker was nowhere near the Townshed home, spotted lifting weights and training at a 24-hour gym in Sector 1 after evening sirens.

[Fred is in one of the hotel's many open rooms, trying to fix this one up. She bites her lip tentatively.]

While I'm glad that is all over, maybe I started getting back to work too soon. My lesson was learned. Anyway...

[A shot to the floor which is soaked and there is duct tape and extra pipes coming from under the sink.]

I'm better than this, but I know how to make death traps, not fix pipes. So... a plumber would probably be good right about now.

When I'm not so much a drowned rat, we should go out some time.
