- SERO Security Grows More Stringent
Tensions ran high in SERO sections of the city on Tuesday as company security was heightened in the wake of the suspected murder of Ryan Oberst. Phone lines in SERO's call center were ringing off the hook, full of complaints from citizens who felt harassed by SERO security guards in Sector 2 and areas surrounding the company's headquarters. Complaints ranged from being rudely asked for identification and pressured to leave the vicinity of the SERO offices to several accusations of assault.
Malcolm Oberst, SERO's chief security officer and the father of the victim, was still nowhere to be found on Tuesday evening as SERO held a press conference to discuss the situation. Monica Bell, one of the company's PR representatives, released this statement:
"We are all shocked and saddened by the tragic death of Ryan Oberst, who was a promising young neurosurgeon studying at Hillsdale University. We are confident that the efforts of the police will lead to the arrest of the person who committed this heinous crime, and that justice will be had in the name of Ryan and his grieving father. We ask that the public respects Mr. Oberst's privacy in this difficult time.
As it is still unknown who the perpetrator was or how he or she gained information or access to Ryan, we hope it is understood why SERO is taking extra precautions at this time. We are expanding our security measures beyond Sector 2 and our corporate offices to any and all SERO-affiliated businesses. We assure you that rumors of our security staff harassing the public are false. They are there to protect everyone, affiliates or no, and we ask that you please cooperate with showing them your identification if they ask for it.
Thank you for your understanding."
Citizens may expect to see SERO's security guards out and about now. According to the notes accompanying the press release, the public can expect to see at least two security guards stationed outside every SERO-affiliated business.
(ooc: SERO has expanded their security sweeps to EVERY SERO-related business in the city. All affiliated businesses will have guards stationed outside, and these guards will identify everyone who approaches. If you are an employee or officially affiliated with SERO, you will be treated fairly and allowed through.
Neutral characters will face with mistrust-- expect to be watched like a hawk and possibly stalked as you make your way through SERO areas or SERO businesses.
If you're affiliated or employed with AGI, however, characters will be treated coldly at best, hostile at worst, and asked to leave the area-- or arrested for obstructing the guards.
There will be a log for recording these interactions starting tonight and taking place over the next few days.)
