Weather Sunny with brisk breezes. High 21°C and a low of 12°C (70°F 48°F)

Current Moon Phase: New Moon

Morning sirens go off at 6:54am, and evening sirens are at 7:20pm.

BREAKING NEWS BREAKING NEWS
11:15 AM - Business in Sector 3 are already experiencing technical difficulties as cash registers refuse to cooperate with cashiers. One high-end shoe store reportedly lost $1,500 in 2 hours after all its cash registers flew open and ejected their contents.

12:43 - The traffic pile-ups continue. A particular bad wreck occurred a block away from the centerpiece of Sector 1, the main tower of AGI, when a driver suffered a seizure due to the rapidly blinking lights.

3:20 PM - A television broadcast coming from AGI's telecommunications center was hijacked by a mysterious masked ninja. Broadcasting to every television in the Port, he proceeded to thank citizens and Newcomers alike for being such a "spectacular audience" and that "the grand finale is yet to come". The transmission last for only seven and a half minutes before the signal cut out. Attempts to trace its origins have been unsuccessful.

5:30 PM - Customers of Club 24 and Afterglow xXx were incensed this evening when a classic video game’s techno mix began to play on an loop. The strobe lights also went haywire, flashing with such intensity and frequency that many people left, complaining about headaches. Both clubs are expected to lose massive amounts of revenue this evening as there is currently no end in sight to strange electronic phenomenon.

[Note: The effects will cease as soon as the evening sirens go off.]

It's been such a long time since I've checked in with the network. I was going to wait for this technology problem to be over, seeing as I'm not from the cell phone generation... [Mr. Gold begins pleasantly. He's outside, the weather beautiful enough that sitting on a park bench seems like the best idea in the world.] Becoming a lurker is not very good for business. Not good at all.

[He pauses.] My pawnshop, "Crossroads", has been open for a few months, now, but we've only just finished the reconstruction on it. Something that was desperately needed, if anyone has stopped in before. I was thinking of letting it past, but some sort of celebration for it sounds nice, doesn't it? The Uzushio Ryokan has been kind enough to host this shindig for me, I'd like to invite everyone to it. We're looking at the 22nd, starting around 7:00 pm.

[He smiles slightly, shifting the cane that his legs are holding up in front of him.] Myself and my associate, Mr. Sark, have found several interesting items to put up for auction, if that will entice anyone further. [He chuckles at that.]

We're also looking for help, to expand our little "family", as it were. If you happen to have a gift for gab, maybe some experience in sales, well. Someone like that would be a welcome addition. Just contact me, Mr. Gold, on my NV, or come into the shop.

A three part text question send anonymously a few hours later. )

[ooc: Depending on your answers, Mr. Gold will invite you to an "after party" at the Uzushio Ryokan. A meeting of the minds for all the baddies out there, but if you'd like to attend by text over Mr. Gold's NV, he'll work with you on that. Party date changed to Saturday the 22nd!]

[Red taps her NV, biting at her lip as she studies the odd book she's been given. She almost drops it when she realizes it’s projecting an image. ] Some sort of spell…?

[She shakes her head, brushing a bit of hair behind her ear as she glances about.] Mary? Where are you? Come look at this.

[There’s a worried pause while she looks around, followed by outright glaring at the book.] What did you do to Mary?

Along with everything else that's been happening weirdly, I think my bosses finally admit I had nothing to do with the whole kiss cam mess at the stadium, earlier this week.

[a pause, and then the boy laughs-]

(...It was still really funny, though.) If the traffic accidents weren't happening, then the whole thing would be hilarious. I should be focusing on stuff that's more serious, I guess, but there's only so much preparing for the worst a guy can do in one go.

So, do you think it's some new SERO worker who finally lost i and snapped? That's what I've heard people saying. Or that some student got pulled off scholarship from SPU's computer department, and decided to take it out on everything. Zipz Arcade, and I hear AGI's clubs all got nailed last night. Whoever's doing it must really hate everything about this city.

How's crew and tech doing at the Felton, Riku, do you need an extra hand?

I'm just glad this network's still not completely bonkers.

Hah. Watch me speak too soon.

In the light of current events, as well as an increasing awareness of our dependency on electronic assistance, it begs the question...

Humankind really is over-reliant on our own technological advancements, aren't we?

My own city of Romdeau fell in part because of the Cogito Virus, which gave rise to the revolt of artificial intelligence. We could not function in our day-to-day lives without entourage and other service autoreivs handling menial operative tasks within the dome. People went mad, lost sheep- it was really quite humbling, how easy crippled we were. How childlike and helpless. Myself included. This world has changed me even in the simplest ways.

Three years ago, prior to my arrival, I'd never really done any cooking for myself, or cleaning for instance, or... so many things. Blackouts would render even the modern day hospital effectively paralyzed, if not for our backup generators.

(This is an awfully ironic conversation to be opening over NV, isn't it?)

All the same, my curiosity is piqued-

Some of you are from ages before the development of computers, androids, networks, lights, motorized vehicles, electronic devices and appliances, digital media, etc, etc...

I'd really like to know- what was it like? How did you live? What was the adaptations necessary, living "hands on", and without tools? Reliant on only face to face communications.

How is it for you now? Improved? Or do you feel as we're all inadept and talentless by comparison, as drone-like as the binary accessories which support us?

[Gohan's energy is very tighly controlled and pushed down when he returns. Only those particularly adept at sensing such things and also know him very well will be able to detect him that way.

[Overall, Gohan looks rather nonplussed, oddly blank for a kid that usually emotes so obviously. He blinks a little, as if disbelieving his current surroundings for a moment. Oh. So he's really back. Well, he should let people know.]

I guess there wasn't too much of a time discrepency this time, huh? What's it been here, a couple days? [A tight, forced smile that doesn't reach his eyes.] Anyway, I'm back, in case anyone was wondering about me.

[He's still thin, but he doesn't look so sick now that he's been here for a few days. His expression is twisted and smoldering with annoyance, anger, something. If his memory weren't so impeccable, today would just be any other day, but no. He remembers Kakashi's birthday as though the date had been singed into his head with an iron brand.

His mind never misses an opportunity to beat the shit out of him.

So the words are a little harsher, more clipped than they might have been, for the neutrality of the question.]

I need somewhere with a lot of space to train.

And a job.
