- Can Binge Drinking Really Make You Norm?
We’ve all had that hangover from hell that leaves you feeling powerless and putrid the morning after. But could there be truth to this popular urban myth about the consumption of too much alcohol? Several studies have shown that inebriation is the leading cause of accidents by misuse of special abilities, and that loss of motor control and mental capacity has left many suffering the “Sunday Morning Null”.
However, a recent article out of Hawthorne University’s Campus Newspaper notes that over the past few weeks, several summer term students have reported partying hard at nearby clubs and bars, passing out, and waking up with a complete and irrecoverable loss of their powers. Several of these students, who have chosen to remain anonymous, failed to initially come forward until two undergraduate fraternity brothers agreed to get tested for severe concussion and potential permanent brain damage.
As more collegiates admitted to having similar trouble, Hawthorne’s Dean of Students has sent out NV-mail to all students and faculty, addressing problems with responsible consumption of alcohol and a declaration that they will tighten policy on hazing rituals.
In the meantime, the AGI Beverage Control Board has released a public statement that “there are currently research which confirms that drinking causes permanent powers impairment in any way. Still, we encourage our loyal consumers to enjoy responsibly.”
- Siren’s Port Farmer’s Market is hosting a Watermelon Carving Contest, judging will take place today at 4pm. The top three winners for most unique design wil get tol take home a free 15 lb organic watermelon from the market every week until the end of summer, as well as have their carving featured in AGI’s upcoming “Food Porn” weekend (July27-29th), celebrating culinary presentation, edible centerpieces, cake decorating and sugar sculpture, along with the irresistibly delicious work of the Port’s best food stylists and photographers.
