- Newcomer Arson Attempt on the Baseball Diamond
Carol Therman, member of M.A.N. and Siren's Port native, witnessed the entire thing one night, about an hour and a half before the evening sirens. "I was standing behind him in the line at the drug store," Therman recounted. "It was hard enough not to stare at him as it was...he was rather odd-looking. But then I noticed he was buying about five or six cans of lighter fluid. Needless to say it made me very nervous, and I remembered something being mentioned just this week about a man burning down a coffee shop, so I thought I would follow him, just in case something happened."
Unfortunately, Therman's suspicions proved correct. She followed the newcomer all the way to the baseball diamond, where he proceeded to soak the infield with all the flammable contents that he purchased. Then Therman watched as he pulled a lighter out of his pocket: at that moment, it was clear he had the intention of vandalizing the baseball diamond. "Of course the Voids stepped in," she said, sounding relieved. "They shot him, and he fell down. But he had been holding one of those zippo lighters, so it was still lit when it dropped. The Voids had to put out the fire that he managed to start."
As for the newcomer, he was killed instantly by the Void gunfire, shot six times in the back. A picture of the Newcomer was taken from the security camera at the drug store, which sources used to identify him as a popular music percussionist that only went by the name of "Pickles" caught up in recent legal issues with AGI. According to some representatives from the company, he was trying to squeeze out from underneath a rather impressive debt he collected since December, on top of being accused of extensive property damage.
Therman was not surprised upon hearing about Pickles' record. "It's a shame, what happened—but probably for the best. He was clearly troubled, even more so than the usual newcomer. What did he think he was going to accomplish with something like this? At least now we don’t have to worry about further destruction."
