- a camera? That wasn't there before!

[The lower half of someone's face filters into focus, right up against the lens. Hope you don't mind an extreme close-up of someone's chin, because that's what you're getting while Jane tries to sort this out.]

Roxy, are you even listening to me?

[Meanwhile, this other person's squealing up a storm in the background.] Janeeeeeeey! Can you fucking believe this shit? It's, like, one second, I'm scramming from the scene -- ravenous creeps all over the damn place, Jane, you wouldn't even believe -- and now!

[There's a pause.] Heh... I hope you're not mad at me still! It's not like I meant to fall on you.

[And then another excited squeal.] Janeyyyy! Come here, ya damn tightass. [Roxy suddenly pulls the other girl in for yet another forceful hug, just before noticing the object in her hands.] What the fuck are you doing with that shit, eh? Didn't I tell you to toss it?

I'm trying to figure out when- [She lets out a little yelp and drops the Tiaratop. It clatters down to the dirt, still recording the girls' feet.] -when it got a camera feature! Something's really fishy about this.

[A pause as Jane leans down to pick up the device. She looks right into the camera.]

Wait, is this thing recording?

I told you not to trust the Batterwitch's shit, Jane. When are you ever gonna learn?

[That last question catches her attention, though.] Oh, really? [She shoves her face right against Jane's cheek to fit into the camera's view.

And now she's making kissy faces at the camera and winking suggestively. Yep.]

((OOC: Jane and Roxy! Apologies for the bright colors ;_;))

You know, it's kinda weird seeing what sort of people the Core pulls in when it does. I don't think I ever realised just how many kinds of worlds there were out there. I mean, I knew there were a lot, but they're all so different. But if you're new here, I hope you're doing okay.

[Xion's surrounded by a pile of books and she has a pencil and note pad out in front of her, but while she's paused to talk to the NV, her pencil is hovering in her right hand, bobbing up and down while she talks.]

I was wanting to try out some new recipes for Kahve so we could put some new things on the menu, maybe some new cupcakes or different cookies. Does anybody- oh!

[Xion's pencil has been pounced on by a dangerous predator! Except not, it's just a very overenthusiastic grey and white kitten who's batting at the writing implement with white tipped paws.]

I guess my cat wants to say 'hi' too. Maybe I need to put a bell on her, she keeps creeping up on me...

[She tickles the kitten's feet with her fingertips, laughing as the little animal as she pounces back.]

Does anybody else's pet like to play pranks on them?

Explosion in Sector 4 has bizarre consequences
52 year old landlord Bobby Stuart is still baffled this morning , following an unexplained explosion in one of his unlet apartments. The damage to the building as a whole is negligible, but investigators discovered that an explosion that "has all the hallmarks of a massive atomic reaction" early Tuesday afternoon had resulted in the irradiation of everything contained within the walls, and - more strangely yet - only everything therein.

The apartment, according to Stuart unoccupied at the time, seemed to have been razed by an intense heat, leaving behind little but ripped plaster and blistered paint; even so, there was no sign of fire. More damage was done by an electrical short, occurring just before the explosion, which knocked out the wiring through the entire building, and is expected to take several days to be repaired.

As for the irradiated apartment, it is unclear what Stuart intends to do, as making it safe is an expensive option, though SERO have already made a bid for it to use for on site research, even despite the controversial residential zoning.

- Hawthorne University Math Tutoring Society Pi Day Fundraiser -- Hey Siren's Port! It's 3/15! That means it's Pi Day!
What? Pi is about 3.14...? We've missed it?
Oh, well. All the more reason for you to support our fundraiser. Come down to the student center at Hawthorne for a wide selection of delicious, discount homemade pies. All proceeds go to our tutoring programs to help underprivileged kids in the city learn to be better at math than we are, apparently.

[Kouga has finally gotten the hang on the NV... somewhat. He's currently giving it a look, apparently questioning what exactly he's seeing. It takes him a while, and when he decides, he still looks kind of surly.]

What is the meaning of this?

[Yes, he totally expects the device itself to have an answer. Or one of the other people using them works too.

Maybe he should have thought out a better opening. Of course, he's not sure what to say other than it feels like darkness is lingering everywhere. And that's not a great first announcement.]

Why is everyone here obsessed with pie? What kind of city is this?

[Here's a face the network hasn't seen in a while. Riku's back to looking more and more like the kid he was when he arrived, though he's grown and definitely looks older. He's sitting near the Newcomer Memorial, glancing around at the stones. For those with keen eyes, they might notice a name beside where he's sitting: Kei Yuki.]

Two years ago, I showed up at that diamond just like everyone else.

[He gives the camera a knowing smile.]

Hearing a lot of these stories lately, haven't we, Siren's Port? But I'll skip over it, since it's not important, and since Joe has already recounted what happened our first few nights here. A lot's happened since then but I'll never forget that first night I was here, or that first week.

[He shifts, glancing back at the memorial he sits by.]

Every month, I go down to the diamond to clean off all those things people call us...and every month, there's more right back up. People have told me that it's a lost cause and that I might as well leave it alone. But I don't want to. I don't want people to think they have us beaten, that they can walk all over us and do what they want. It's been over two years and we still haven't all gone and there were people before us, people still in the city. We're not the first ones here.

[Riku turns back and locks eyes with the camera.]

Someone tried to ruin this memorial today. They were going to spray paint over some of the names, like they were trying to erase what's here and who used to be around.

[It hits something in him. The names in the memorial are the ones he's collected but, more importantly, what really angers him is that defacing the stone is like trying to erase the memories of the people who once inhabited Siren's Port. And that's something he refuses to stand for, above all else.]

If we're really not the first Newcomers here, then why is nothing else around? Why was there no political party, no memorial, no safe house...nothing? Did they try to erase all of that too, so no one would remember that they were once Newcomers? Or did they try harder to become integrated people so no one would hurt them anymore?

[He frowns.]

It just...doesn't make much sense to me. Why would you purposely try to erase important memories like that and try to forget all that's happened?

Hello, Siren's Port. I come to your network seeking information.

Firstly, I hear a number of people have had the good fortune to find themselves with companions upon their arrival into this city. As such, if anyone has heard of the names Jade Harley, Dave Strider, or John Egbert, I request that they respond to my inquiry with the appropriate information.

Second, further explanation on the nature of this city would be appreciated. While I may or may not have done some of my own digging, a second opinion is always welcome.

Considering I have no particular desire for anyone to soothe any sort of latent worry you may be sensing under this texted exterior, I propose we skip straight into introductions. As it seems, I may be here for a while.

At the risk of sounding cliché, it’s Lalonde. Rose Lalonde. A pleasure to do business with all of you, and certainly a wish that our meeting could be under better circumstances.

Whilst there are certain things that I have learned will always be a constant I still manage to be surprised when the event occurs.

What we care for should never be taken for granted, not with how quickly life changes or passes us by. [ She believes in that more so from seeing others lives pass when hers doesn't ]

"Make the most of what you have." It may seem like a ridiculous platitude but it's more true than we may wish to think it, or think on it.

[ She's slightly bitter, a lot sad but even more understanding. She knew that people left, she had once, but it had never happened to someone close to her. Until now. And as selfishly as she misses them she knows that it's better. It doesn't stop her feeling sorry for herself though ]

Take all opportunities that you can, cherish what you have and always remember; it may not be there again.

So everyone's telling me it's impossible to sale out of the Port because of the Core, but nobody seems to know what the Core is.

[Sound of footsteps and passing vehicles.]

Why don't you guys know more about it? I mean, it's on the island right? Or uhm. Under it?

[There's a loud honking]

Yikes!

[And a crash, that of a body falling into something, followed by yelling and swearing.]

Aw, gee! Sorry! I didn't mean to!

[More yelling]

I'm a pirate! What kinda pirate pays for things!?
