INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR TOLERANCE.
INTER. FUCKING. NATIONAL. DAY. FOR. TOLERANCE.
AN ENTIRE DAY DEDICATED TO TOLERATING OTHERS WHO ARE DIFFERENT.
YOU KNOW, ONLY ONE OUT OF ALL THE OTHER DAYS OF THE YEAR WHERE IT'S APPARENTLY JUST FUCKING FINE TO BE AS INTOLERANT AS YOU WANT SO LONG AS YOU PLAY NICE ONE SPECIAL DAY OUT OF THE YEAR.
THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS WRONG WITH YOU HUMANS THAT I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO FUCKING *BEGIN*.
I THINK I LITERALLY JUST HAD A RAGE ANEURYSM AT THE SHEER FUCKING HYPOCRISY THAT'S BLEEDING OVER EVERYTHING THAT'S UNDERLYING IN THAT IMPLICATION.
I'M NOT GOING TO GO THERE, NOT EVEN GOING TO FUCKING TOUCH THAT BECAUSE GOD FORBID I END UP SOUNDING LIKE THE ONE PERSON I HATE MORE THAN MYSELF.
WHAT LITTLE HOPE I HAD IN YOUR RACE BEING SOMEWHAT INTELLIGENT AS A WHOLE IS NOW DEAD AND GONE, I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY.

Today is International Day for Tolerance, founded in 1995 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization to generate public awareness of the dangers of intolerance, “to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, ... to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, ... and for these ends to practice tolerance and live together in peace with one another as good neighbours.”

On this day in Siren’s Port, citizens observe and celebrate the broad diversity of culture, ethnicities, sexual orientation, gender, creed, values, opinions and body types, among the island’s population, recognizing world history’s intolerance among powered peoples and the struggles of persecution they or their descendants have faced before they arrived in Siren’s Port.

Schools teach on these topics, universities lecture about the city’s second founding and waves of immigration, both accidental, intentional refuge-seeking, and forced. The importance of maintaining the island’s secrecy is coupled with a fearful message about the hypocrisy of the world which outcasted them. Some strong xenophobes will even openly thank the existence of the Pull, that their children will never face persecution and hatred of outside societies.

The Sanguinarian Society is out in full force, promoting vampire image and distributing “We are not monsters” pamphlets left over from their Halloween campaign. Some radicals even suggest steps of tolerance should be taken toward darkness monsters, though as one pundit laughs on a mid-morning talk show: “Well those steps will surely be our last!”

Of course, amid all this tolerance preaching, the media and city figureheads are curiously silent on the subject of widely hated and unwelcomed newcomers, with the exception of a passing remark in a SERO radio broadcast on the strength of unity, where “a wealth of outstanding newcomer ideas, contributing ingenuity, and skilled labor” are briefly praised.

[Here's a face that hasn't been seen in a while. It looks like he just got back in from a long day of work. Or something.]

Well. I guess everyone's been busy lately, huh?

[Don't mind him. He also has a dragon sprawled across his lap.]
