- An explosion rocked Sector 1 late last night at 37 Syracuse Road. The home belonged to Stephan Delacroix, a man who often served as bodyguards to some known notorious Afterglow Inc. VIPs. He died in the explosion. A prevalent figure in kidnapping slaves for AGI's clubs, Stephan was last seen walking into his home with a young, strawberry blonde-haired woman. "He always did love those high class prostitutes," says one of Delacroix's neighbors, an 85-year-old woman who just so happened to have neighborhood watch duties that night.

"She had expensive clothes and his hands were all over her. She left not too long before he was blown to pieces."

Police are looking for any information about the woman and would like to speak with her. They are refraining from comment on whether or not she is a suspect. "This could all very well be a freak accident and she got out in time," says an inside source. "But with last week's murder of an AGI affiliate, we're treating this like a possible homicide." Investigators are still trying to figure out the cause of the explosion.

The murders of two AGI affiliates in the span of almost a week is not looking good for SERO. Neither company could be reached for comment.

- There was a darkness proofing breach at the McKinley Zoo’s Koala habitat last night, zookeepers are unsure if the animals destroyed the proofing themselves, if normal wear and tear allowed for darkness seep, or if an volunteer keeper may have accidentally left the enclosure unlatched. Three koalas were missing as of this morning. If you have any information regarding their whereabouts, or potential darkness mutation, please notify the Zoo Curator’s office extension. [Diego sits at his desk in his office, though he's not doing any work. Even though there is a massive pile of it sitting on the table beside him, various case files for a whole stack of investigations. He's just sitting, staring who knows where, tapping his fingers.

After a moment, he picks up one of the coffee cups beside him and holds it without taking a sip, as though contemplating it.
]

The waning days of summer. The last few days of sweltering heat that shrivel and fall pathetic and lukewarm in the night. The first cool breezes that never quite make it to touch your skin before they fade. The dying lawns, the caretakers foregoing the mowing or the watering since there's no point anymore. The somber sound of little footsteps marching back to school, back out of the sunlight, back to reality.

The waning days of summer. The end of the brightness, the warmth, the carefree happiness. The turning of the earth into the phase of death and decay.

[He stares at the cup for a long moment, as though debating whether or not to drink from it. At last he takes a sip, then lets the cup down with a thump.]

Ha...! Bitter...

I hate this time of year.

[When the feed comes on the network will be graced by two very familiar faces. Ciel Phantomhive and Gilbert Nightray seem to be standing in the kitchen of Funtom’s bakery, but there are a few noticeable changes that those who’ve seen where all those delicious pies are made should be able to pick out. The biggest of them all would be the giant flat screen that seems to have been installed, along with a few small cameras hanging from the ceiling and in corners here and there. With a smile, Ciel starts, greeting the network. Listen up, he has something important to say!]

Good Morning, Siren’s Port. For those of you who are unfamiliar with me and my associate, I am Earl Ciel Phantomhive, co-owner of Funtom Toys & Sweets and this is Gilbert Nightray, the manager and co-owner of this establishment. Today we’re here to inform you about an exciting contest that Funtom will be holding this coming Saturday, August 25th. Gilbert?

[And meanwhile, behind him, Gilbert looks...slightly awkward. He’s never been good at talking over the NV, let alone making a public statement like this. He clears his throat behind a closed fist before speaking.]

Funtom Bakery is holding a cake baking and decorating contest. The grand prize for the winning team will be one-thousand dollars for each member.

[There’s a nod from Ciel before the young boy takes over, gesturing to the kitchen behind them.]

There will be three teams in total along with a total of five judges. Contestants have the entire day from 9:00 AM to two hours before the siren’s sound to complete their cake. They will then be able to present their creation to the judges and have it judged before an audience.

Ah...what did they call it? A reality show...?

I believe so? Those who compete will find themselves performing in front of an audience, as the footage the cameras behind me will capture will be broadcast to all of your NVs. To make the experience interactive, those who wish to cheer on their favourite team will be able to do so by submitting comments through their NV and having them displayed on the screen behind me in real time. Whether you wish to submit words of encouragement or criticism, that is solely up to the viewer.

So we’re asking for volunteers who’d like to compete or join our team of judges. Everyone gets free food in the end, at least.

And those who wish to visit Funtom to watch the spectacle on a large screen are welcome to. Tea and cake during and after the event is a given. Contestants have until 9:00 PM on the 24th to enter into the competition.

[There’s a pause before Ciel looks over to Gilbert, giving him a little nudge with his elbow. Don’t space out on him now, bro.]

Ah! [He smiles then, awkwardly and over-exaggerated at the camera. But despite the happy expression, it’s clear that he feels like a tool by saying this.]

W-we hope you’ll help us - make it a success!

[Awkward...laugh. Ciel, please save him here.]

We hope to see you all there!

[ooc: Please check the OOC Post about the event and if you wish to sign up! There are four contestant spots left, along with one judge spot!]
