Police begin investigations after gruesome murder in Sector 10
A murder inquiry has been launched after a body was found before sirens this morning by two night shift workers in Sector Ten. The two men were running a perimeter check of local business "Mike’s Scrap Yard" when they discovered the body in a state of extreme mutilation, suspended from a barbed wire fence surrounding the yard.
Police arrived on the scene minutes later and secured the area. Officers had to borrow wire cutters from the scrap yard in order to remove the body, along with part of the fence, as the victim’s intestines were completely entangled in the top of the wire. Although the victim's face had been mutilated beyond recognition, cards left in his wallet identified him as Franco Berchelli, who had been reported absent from his shift at Afterglow Inc. that day. Berchelli was a long-standing employee of AGI and his co-workers were said to be "shocked" by his demise.
Mike Peregrine, owner of the scrap yard, was available for the following comment. “One of my longest-running employees quit on me straight after. Said he wouldn’t work on the turf of some maniac, not when he could have still been out there when they found the stiff. No chance a monster could do that to someone. I'm not going to feel safe at work until whoever did that guy in is behind bars."
An SPPD spokesman stated that there were yet to be any arrests in conjunction with the case.
The lower half of Cantock Road intersecting with Lime Street will be closed this morning to aid police investigation. Any information or queries concerning the murder should be directed to NV#65-008976.
