Three Day Weekend Ahead! The Port prepares for its annual Canada Day celebrations, which include a parade on Sunday, ½ price admission at the McKinley Zoo & Aquarium, Free Rides for kids 12 & under all weekend at the Underground Mall’s North Point Carnival, and many other local celebratory events! Because of numerous injuries and causalties darkness attacks in previous years’ celebrations, Governor Townshed has passed a strict ordinance that
no fireworks are to be set off this year after 1st evening siren.
Sunday also marks the first year of the Governor’s term in office. Astrid Keelson, one of Townshed’s vocal critics and President of the Underground Mall Clubs Association, commented that this fireworks ban is “A perfect example of what a penny pinching, dreary, number-crunching dullard our elected man in office is. What’s Canada Day without a little fun and excitement? Most of us are safe behind proofed windows anyway- if some idiots want to set off firecrackers and enrage the monsters? Let them do it.”
She is launching an initiative to throw a big bash at the Mall, and encourages locals to come out and enjoy the weekend. Security teams have doubled since last Saturday’s darkness scare at Club Twins and the Crest, and entertainment promises to be top notch.
