Ah- yes. Hello. This... is Garret Hawke here. The Champion of Kirkwall. I appear to be in a place that's... not where I went to sleep. So either I've been drinking in the Hanged man again, or I've been kidnapped by some form of wily demon.

[He sighed and gave that beard a scratch.]

The thing is, I'm a big fan of knowing where I am, and there's a lot of things here that really make me question what I had to drink last night. These buildings don't look like anything in Kirkwall. Or Fereldan. Maybe these are tevinter buildings? No. Fenris probably would have commented on how they were built by slaves or something.

[He shook his head and sighed.]

Well. If anyone could give me information I'd pay them in... [He checked for his purse.] A charming smile and perhaps even a flirty wink.

[Fenris nearly choked and spilled his drink when he heard Hawke's familiar voice, always slanted with amusement. And he snorted when Hawke mentioned him.

But now he's flipping on the video option to respond. It's been so long since he's seen Hawke.]

I don't think your payment will be necessary, tempting though I'm sure it is.

[And because it's Fenris, he gives a curt nod.]

Hawke.

Oh! Good. A familiar face. I thought this might be something to worry about.

[He looked around up at the buildings.]

I know the architecture in Tevinter was supposed to be different but... I'm pretty sure we're not there?

[Just the thought of being in Tevinter brings a sneer to his lips.]

Think about it, Hawke. Do you think I would be here, calmly speaking with you over enchanted technology if we were in Tevinter? This place is only marginally more tolerable, but no less infested with magic.

So you still have plenty to complain about! That must be comforting.

[He chuckled and scratched his forehead. He peered around, it was quiet and it wasn't exactly getting to be lighter in the day.]

Well, If you'd already murdered half the population you might be stopping for a tea break or something.

[He shuffled his sword onto his back a little more comfortably.]

You realise this is the part in the conversation where you tell me what's going on right?

[Fenris is already on his feet and out the door. He can recognize some...recognizable landmark behind Hawke.]

I believe this would be better discussed in person. It would aid me greatly if you could stay put.

[The tone in his voice suggests that he doesn't think Hawke can stay put ever.]

[Hawke nods to the book.]

Is there... anybody else here? Anders? Isabela?

[He sighed, thinking and looking for a place to sit. He moved over to something that looked sittable, and did so turning the pages of the book to look through it.]

This book... is certainly an ingenious invention. If I can speak to you though it, Merril would be enraged that someone found something that worked better than her mirror.

I assure you, no blood magic is involved. It is simply a strange sort of technology, I think. This world is... far more advanced than our own in many ways.

[After that, Fenris is silent for a moment, thinking carefully over his words.]

Yes... Anders is here.

[And he'll just leave it at that for now.]

I would hope not. Blood magic would have meant I'd have to burn it. Or cleave it in half with my sword.

[Blood magic, the area in which Fenris Anders and Hawke all agreed it was bad.]

He is?

[There was a look of relief quite different from when he saw Fenris's, but Fenris didn't need the sappy details.]

Can I just say? I'm glad we were tricked into helping you all those years ago? It's paying off.

[He would roll his eyes at that last statement, but his brows knit when he hears sword.]

Your...sword, Hawke?

[He tries to take a peak at Hawke's weapon in the small video. He definitely didn't see the familiar two handles that Zevran and Isabela sported.]

Yeeees... I assume you're familiar with the concept considering that you yourself use one.

[Okay, This wasn't just Fenris being weird. Something... was wrong if Fenris couldn't place what a sword was.]

Fenris, are you all right?

[Fenris is confused. And it shows on his face.]

Yes, but.

You've always been very capable with daggers and archery, Hawke. It does not seem efficient to take up another weapon so suddenly. Are you in need of daggers? Zevran surely has spares.

... I've never been able to use daggers. They're small and pointy and far too much hassle.

[He raised an eyebrow at Fenris.]

And as far as Archery goes, I can about shoot a deer. But not people. Are you sure you're all right?

[He curses his apartment for being so far away. But these questions really couldn't wait.]

I'm fine.

[He also curses this place for making him look foolish.]

Please, answer truthfully. What is the last thing you remember before waking up here?

I'd just told Meredith she was losing the plot and stuck up for Orsino when they were arguing in the courtyard.

[He shook his head.]

I'm counting the ways she can mess up Kirkwall before she finally admits or shows she's well and truely off the deep end.

[He nods. He remembers that, so Hawke isn't in his future like they both seem to be in Anders' far future. But Fenris also remembers much more, suggesting that Hawke is in his past. Not far, though.]

Everything I am about to tell you, Hawke, is going to seem very... absurd. I'm still not quite certain how it all works, but it is the reality. You must accept them as fact, regardless of how far-fetched it seems.

Well, I've had such a logical and sensical day so far.

[His sarcasm was a comfort to him right now.]

A little more insanity won't hurt. And I trust you not to lie because to make a lie out of all of this you must be far more imaginative than I ever thought.

I have reason to believe I am from your... future.

[Awkwardly clears his throat.]

And last I remember, you were a very capable rogue. On par with Isabela and Sebastian.

.... That... is really... interesting?

[And last I remembered you were sane.]

... I quite fancy myself as a rogue. Being all stealthy and acrobatic. But unfortunately I have never had the dexterity for it. I was trained in two handed swords and I became a Reaver.

[He sighed. That wasn't a fun process, but it was worth it.]

So... Care to venture why you and I remember different things?

This is an entirely new world, Hawke. Everything we knew in Thedas has little hold here. In any case, the magic here is less predictable than what we once knew. Perhaps that is to blame.

[He's...almost...there!]

Though it is... amusing all the same. Imagining you with a two-handed weapon.

... As about as amusing as imagining me with a bow really.

[He chuckled to himself and shook his head. People around here wore very odd clothes. He watched a man walk past in a t-shirt and jeans.]

That looks a lot more comfortable than armour.

[Aaand he arrives. His hunched posture, white hair, and stubborn determination to at least wear some durable leather everywhere should make him easily seen even in the crowd. Fenris looks up and-- sure enough, Hawke has a sword. And armor. And this is completely weird for him.]

Yes, this place isn't much like Thedas at all. Not in the daytime, anyway. At night, however, many strange beasts roam the streets. It is advisable that you remain indoors at all times.

[And a genuine smile.]

It is good to see you, my friend.

I'd offer a brotherly hug or a handshake, but I fear you're not used to such strength.

[He chuckles and gives Fenris a big smile back.]

It sounds like you've settled in the place somewhat. Which is good. You get to take lead for a little while, at least till I find my bearings.

[That was-- a strange thing to hear. It made Fenris fidget, shift from foot to foot.]

We will see this just how powerful this strength is you boast of. As for now- I imagine a man like yourself will be able to adapt easily.

[His expression twists with a bit of concern.]

Though even here, slavery persists. Perhaps even more so than in Kirkwall. I advise you to be cautious.

Then it's good I arrived.

[He said seriously, putting a hand to his blade, as a sort of encouragement for Fenris.]

We will have to sort that out then. [Hawke places a hand on Fenris's shoulder reassuringly giving it a squeeze.]

I will not allow slavery if I can help it.

[It's to the point where Fenris doesn't even flinch when Hawke touches him. Fenris smiles in appreciation. He always knew Hawke would fight that sort of thing. It would kill him to see Hawke caught up in that, though. He'd have to make certain the other man knew where that- that one slave establishment was.]
