Ah- yes. Hello. This... is Garret Hawke here. The Champion of Kirkwall. I appear to be in a place that's... not where I went to sleep. So either I've been drinking in the Hanged man again, or I've been kidnapped by some form of wily demon.

[He sighed and gave that beard a scratch.]

The thing is, I'm a big fan of knowing where I am, and there's a lot of things here that really make me question what I had to drink last night. These buildings don't look like anything in Kirkwall. Or Fereldan. Maybe these are tevinter buildings? No. Fenris probably would have commented on how they were built by slaves or something.

[He shook his head and sighed.]

Well. If anyone could give me information I'd pay them in... [He checked for his purse.] A charming smile and perhaps even a flirty wink.

[He shakes his head.]

N-no, forgive me. My insecurities are not your concern. What matters now is that you are here. If you wish to find him, I will assist you. As always.

Your everything is my concern Fenris. And that goes for all of you.

[He rolls his eyes. When were his companions ever going to learn that his problems are their problems and it works the other way too. That's how friends work.]

Is there a way we can get a map of the city? I'm not to good with directions especially in a place where I've never been.

I do not have one, no. Zevran, however, may. He is oddly very well-prepared.

[He still doesn't meet Hawke's eyes, but he seems at least a little more certain of himself now.]

[He nods, Anders... can sit on the back burner for a moment. Fenris needs a little reinforcement.]

So how well have you adjusted here? You seem very calm. Not that you weren't the calmest person I knew. It's rather frightening sometimes.

[He shrugs.]

I am pleased that you are here. Is that calm enough for you?

Yes. Very much so. I would have reacted very differently should no-one have been here who was glad to see me. I like attention.

[Teasing Fenris was always fun. He was a good sport for a grumpy elf.]

[A soft laugh.]

Yes, I have noticed that about you.

[He gestures to a door on his left.]

That room there is available for your use for as long as you need it.

[He looked around at the floor.]

Oh that's right! I have no things.

I earn quite a bit from my...employment. We can get you what you need -- I doubt any of Zevran's or my clothing would fit.

[Silly humans and their broad shoulders.]

I would rather pay for it myself, what employment do you have?

[He was interested. Fenris had made it his job to be a sword-arm for Hawke.]

I shall seek employment as soon as possible. It's a shame this place didn't bring my coinpurse with it. Or rather, any of the contents of my coin purse with it.

I'm a...bounty hunter.

[He shifts on his feet.]

As in the hunting of criminals or offending beasts?

[He blinks. Well, that's not an unwelcome thing as long as he's being careful and if it's people questioning everything like Hawke does.]

Do you enjoy the work?

The former. It is-- satisfying work, I suppose. It pays what it needs to, as well.

Well... Make sure you're not just blindly cutting people down. I'm not sure how many times we've turned up on a bounty list because we've done things to upset the rich and powerful.

[It's a joke. But not really.]

I am hardly a rampant murderer, Hawke. I am allowed to choose my contracts as well. I rarely find myself in a compromising position due to my work.

[Hawke stopped and blinked with a horrified look on his face. He just realised something horrible about himself.]

I've... become my mother.

[A startled laugh.]

Now that is a startling image, Hawke. I mean no offense, but I do not think you'd look half as elegant in her dress.

Oh no, I meant I've started to become concerned with my companions fighting and doing dangerous things I told them to be careful about killing people.

[He shudders.]

Though I happen to think I'd look fantastic in a dress.

[Yes, you'd look wonderful festooned in ruffles, Hawke.]

I will be careful in my excursions, as I have always been. You must watch yourself, too, Hawke.

Ah, but I have you to come to my aid. I am in capable hands should I forget to watch myself.

[He grins at Fenris.]

Somehow, I get the feeling you will be quite all right on your own, forgetful or not. But yes, I will always have your back, Hawke.

I don't know. Maybe you're the secret to my success. The puppeteer engineering all my success!

[He chuckles. Though if he had to wager it was one of his companions? It would be Varric. Then Fenris.]

In that case I'm glad you're here.

[A true, genuine smile that only Hawkes get.]

I am glad that you are here as well.
