[She's got make up on and is hiding the illness still wracking her. She's managing not to hack up a lung because this is important and you never show weakness. Ever.

She's also in her uniform. Not her normal flat black, though. This one is different. There's a deep red under her arms that goes downward. No one can see the bottom, where the racing stripes down her legs fade from silver to blue, to Magneto's purple. It's directed at someone, because she knows he'll get it. To hell with the rest of you plebeians.]

Good morning. In certain sectors of the Newcomer community this morning, I have no doubt that there are a lot of questions.

I am neither condoning, condemning, nor confirming actions, at this time.

However. I am asking that all who are leaving the House of Awesome do so by noon today.

All belongings left behind will be stored and returned to their rightful owners, at mutually agreed upon times and places.

Temporarily, I am stating that this building will no longer be accepting Newcomers. Until now, we've had an open policy, but as of noon, that policy is on indefinite hold. I am sorry for anyone that this inconveniences.

Of course, anyone that remains here will have leave to come and go as they need. All visitors will be cleared by myself and myself alone.

They're going to fix the angel proofing, allowing only Lucifer and Michael in. No, I don't like it, but it's what's best at this point.

Some slices of the story might bring SERO recruiters calling again; I would not expect problems at this juncture, but it's best if you're not surprised.

A small detail, but we'll need to totally rewrite the chores schedule. Who is staying?

I'd say that's going as well as could be expected, then, and I'm fully aware that doesn't mean it's going well.

There's going to be more. None of them are mutants, and they don't want to understand.

I told Blaine that I was doing this to protect friends and if they didn't like it, the line to hate me started over there. At least they'd be alive to do it.

So far, I've done nothing illegal. No one here paid rent; if they left, it was of their own accord. The security system is filed with the city, and approved.

No investigation has begun, and I have not refused to cooperate with one.

If my friends don't like what I've done? At least they'll be alive to hate me.

Hey, if they decide to just turn their backs and not even ask for an explanation? That's not my problem. I've got other things to worry about than holding their hands and coddling their precious little egos.

For whatever it is worth, I am giving you this advice for your sake, not theirs.

[Emma does not say that she's largely indifferent to the welfare of Jubilation's friends except insofar as it affects Jubilee. And ... in truth, it depends on her mood. Which is rather grim at the moment.]

I know. But I also accepted a long time ago that being a mutant often means sacrificing friendships because they can never understand.

[Not that she won't grieve for those friendships, she will, but there are things far more important than them.]

Yes. But if you have any interest in salvaging friendship with some of the people who do not and will not understand, but who are fond of you nonetheless, it will be easier to do so if you begin damage control on that front soon.

Frankly, I just don't have the energy or time or want to go chasing after people who said they were friends and trusted me, but obviously don't. When they've told me they've got things handled, I've backed off. They aren't asking for explanations, they're just assuming and I cannot deal with guilty until proven innocent.

[Yes, she feels betrayed. Especially by a couple of people whom she'd thought were rather close. Others? Well. She'll deal with that later. She's never said she wasn't their friend, and if they need help, she'll be there, just they aren't her friends.]

Jubilee can't shock her with bias against humans. All things being equal, Emma's more interested in the well-being of mutants than humans herself ... and in that sense, is probably more prejudiced than Jubilee. But she's concerned, because she suspects this isn't good for Jubilee.]
