And to make it worse for you, I think he is gone, M'sieur Marius. I cannot contact him on this thing. And he would not answer his door. I think you are truly alone, M'sieur.

[Enjolras was confined, and knows nothing beyond his own arrest and sale. He understand though, that she knows. The blood seems to drain from his cheeks, leaving him pallid, and he straightens his shoulders.]

Do not put yourself at risk on my behalf. I am safe, for now.

Do you think that whatever brought us here as taken us home? I will pray for him. [He sighs. The feeling of helplessness makes his shoulders tense, and his jaw clench.]

I was not given a choice whether I went, or stayed, or waited. I was simply... taken. I cannot trust anyone, not at the present. The less you know the safer you are, I think.

[Enjolras pulls in a deep breath and lets it out slowly.]

Any efforts to come and get me are unnecessary, and could only jeopardize your safety, and will not help me.

As you wish, M'sieur. But you know, you must say the word and I will get you help. My...Deadpool knows people with powers who can help you. We are the only two from Paris now, M'sieur, and I know you tolerate me for M'sieur Marius, but I will help you so that when one of us is sent home, we can say that I helped you.

[And of course, Mariius will fall madly in love with Eponine and forget about Cosette and marry Eponine instead. In her dreams.]

[Enjolras' usually stoic resolve flickers.]

[She barely registers his flicker of emotion, but his tone turns her answer into a question.]

[Sleeping together? Dating? She can't say either of those to Enjolras. So she settles for a phrase, whilst not strictly true, implies their close relationship.]

[Enjolras' shoulders are tight, his jaw clenched, but he gives nothing. But, in a rather haughty way he does say.]

[Eponine is a little - a lot- taken aback by that. Although she can't hide her surprise, she sticks her chin up high and glares defiantly at Enjolras]

What do you mean? It's a proper relationship, not that it's any of your business. He's not paying me, if that's what you mean?

I wouldn't surprise me if he frequented whores but I didn't think you were one, no. I just feel like you could do a lot better is all.

[She sighs]

The man I love does not love me. I will end up with Montparnasse if I go home, or dead. And here - well - he actually likes me, M'sieur. Who am I to turn that down? He gives me food. Deadpool is a good man. He wanted to help me help you, you know?

[That's a lie. Deadpool had out and out refused. But Enjolras isn't to know that, and Eponine does want to show how good Deadpool is. Since when did Enjolras know her so well, anyway?]

[Enjolras' demeanor changes, softens a little. He almost looks amused]

I gave you food. You certainly weren't in love with me. But, do not be deluded. He belongs in Bedlam.

[ Sad to say, he can't really offer much in the way of comfort, Eponine. He's kind of a jackass, though he does have a shred of tact. ]

I spent some time there years ago.

Bright? When it rains, perhaps, and the moon makes the pavements and the river shine. Real light though... No. The Seine is the place for the bad. Light would not be good. I still think it is the most beautiful bit though. The rest is slums or churches. And the rich streets, I suppose. Did you go to the theatre?

[She's babbling and probably sounds half crazed. But her ramblings are a good distraction from Marius' absence.]

I did.

I go there often. My brother, Gavroche, he gives me and Azelma tickets so we can sit in the gallery, and sometimes he makes the actors let me stand at the side to watch. He knows everyone, my brother. I like the theatre. All the songs, and the costumes and such. And sometimes, Gavroche makes one of the actors give up his orange for us. That is a good day, then. Did you have an orange there?

[ It's a bit too much rambling for his tastes, but he lets her go on anyway. ]

I had one, once.

[ A beat. ]

Do you want to go back?

They are delicious, are they not? If I could, I would have one every day.

[She pauses to think. Marius is back in Paris now, and he was the only light in her life for a long time. But here, she has friends... there are bad things too, of course, and she's in a lot of trouble here...]

To Paris? It is hard, M'sieur. There are lots of things I want that I'll never have and sometimes it is easier not to dwell on it. My family is in France - my little sister and my brother - and I feel bad that I have a nice time here, whilst I know in France, that they do not. I have friends here. But there is trouble in both places...

Paris is not a 'home' either. It is much like here, I think. I Don't want to go back now. Here, when you are in trouble, some men will help you out. In Paris, no. In Paris, your trouble is made worse. There is magic here too. I would bring my sister and brother here, and M'sieur Marius and his friends.
