(You know, for all the oddness that came with that time warp thing, it definitely fulfilled one of my college wishes: to have extra time to study for my exam. So I guess I shouldn't complain.)

[Phoenix clears his throat, then activates the video. He's sitting behind his desk at his rather vacant-looking law offices.]

Hi, everyone. This is Phoenix Wright... Thanks to everyone who helped me when I got here last month. I guess I'm settling in a little bit, for better or for worse. Again. If you knew me from before, I'm sorry, but I don't remember most of you. It's, uh, nothing personal. I'd actually like to talk to as many of you as are out there... to kind of see what "I've" been up to before, if anything.

As far as further news goes... I guess coming on the heels of the last post, it's as appropriate a time as any to mention that Wright & Co. Law Offices are open for business again for anyone who needs a defense attorney.

Sorry I can't remember more specifically what I did, Ms. Nelliel, but I'm glad it turned out well.

[Nelliel enters the room. Her clothing, fashionable and modern, is in stark contrast to the bone mask on the top of her head. Nonetheless, she expects that there are enough people in Siren's Port who are used to her appearance. She doesn't get as many stares as she used to, at least.]

Hello, Mr. Wright. I appreciate you taking the time to speak with me.

[People in the AA world dress very oddly sometimes too. Phoenix just assumes it's a weird hat.]

It's no problem, Ms. Nelliel. Please take a seat.

[Nelliel has a seat, as requested.]

Up until his arrest, Szayel was an employee of SERO. I believe that they used his skills and then discarded him to deal with the consequences alone once something they had him create on their orders was linked back to them.

I see... So you think they should be liable for whatever this creation was, rather than him?

What was it, by the way?

Or at the very least, they should bear greater responsibility for it, as opposed to trying to push the blame entirely on him. They gave him the orders, and they modified the work he did afterward.

It was the cyborgs that attacked people...Szayel created the cyborgs, but he did not put in a function to make them go berserk. Nor did he know that SERO was planning on modifying them that way.

Hmm... If you're sure about that...

(Meanwhile, I'm just going to try not evincing any surprise about berserk robots.)

If it wasn't a consequence of his own malicious actions, but it was a consequence of someone else's, then we should be able to get somewhere.

Szayel is hardly a shining example of morality, and he acknowledges that he did make the cyborgs. I do believe him when he says he did not put in that modification, though. He was quite upset about what SERO did with his research.

Okay... Then we just need to find some Evidence. If it's true, there must be something.

I am paying someone to get me any documents related to that project or that show the names of people Szayel was reporting to. Would that help?

You mean, a private detective?

...It would probably be the best to hope for. I guess the scene of the crime, as it were, would be off limits.

Yes, I hired someone to investigate that for me since I can hardly help Szayel by getting caught breaking and entering.

[Nelliel knows very well that Deathstroke is working as a bounty hunter, but it was a bounty on documents and it would require investigating, so she doesn't really see a big difference. After all, she didn't put out a bounty on a person.]

...Uh, so someone else is going to do the breaking and entering?

(These cases really aren't doing much for my diet of moral fiber, are they?)

I'm not sure that kind of evidence would be easy to present in court...

Ideally, the person I am paying will be able to convince some of the cleaning staff to let him in, so it would not be true breaking and entering.

As for the evidence...why would that be a problem? You do not know who acquired it, and even I will not know what methods he used. This is not a trial of Szayel vs. SERO. This is a trial to determine Szayel's guilt or innocence, and what an appropriate punishment is for his actions.

[Nelliel sighs.]

Ideally, I would like to see Szayel forced to do community service. He has successfully cloned human organs and he could be an asset to hospitals.

Well, for example, if I can't prove where I got it, it'll be hard to prove that it's real.

We'll have to see, though... I can't do anything without some kind of evidence, anyway.

But would it not cause more problems if you could prove where you got it?

(Ideally, it would be legal!)

That's... maybe true, but not exactly what I was going for.

We'll just have to see what it is before we can decide about that, Ms. Nelliel.

So, will you meet with Szayel to talk with him about his case, Mr. Wright?

I can definitely at least do that, Ms. Nelliel.
