February ni- is it really February 19th?

[Guess who's been a bit, er, distracted for the last week or so. But hey! Better late than never, in his book.]

Ahhhh not the worst I've been with losing track of time, at least. Bit common, really. Either way, I do have a bit of a question. A nice little public inquiry of sorts!

I've been hearing talk of elections and police forces floating about, figured it was about time to get the whole history of the place, now that I've figured out some of the scientific and physical make-up of this city, its inhabitants, the 'powers' some of you are developing. And, well, this many people trapped in one place, some with powers and some without, seems a bit like chaos waiting to happen. Well, not waiting. Been listening to the news broadcasts, at least. [Just... not the dates.] And see, I have a friend in the police force. Well, in the investigative division. Well... no, actually. Not sure what she does. Bit of information on that would be nice.

Otherwise, I'd especially appreciate a rundown on magic, actually. Where I'm from its not entirely possible, just a different branch of science. Where humans mastered atoms and the combination of chemicals others you would label as witches and wizards mastered words. So if there's anyone willing to just meet up somewhere and give me a magic demonstration, just let me watch a bit, take down some calculations... might help on figuring out what makes this place so... ohIdunno, different, I suppose. What makes it so easy to trap us here. Changes the rules and laws of physics and keeps us trapped.

[He pauses, takes in a deep breath to calm down, and when he speaks again? Well, it sounds downright cheerful.]

Would also like a recommendation for a good florist, if there are any still operating in all this snow. Always tend to miss Earth traditions...

Missed Valentine's day, actually. Have a few people in mind I... ah... probably should have gotten something for. [Like a certain blonde flatmate and a humanoid version of his ship, for starters...]

Uhhh, yeah, I'll say. [ this is a girl with her priorities in order, though through her teasing, she laughs a little. ] Did you have any specific flowers in mind?

[ aka: are you trying to tell them something? ]

Well.... roses are a bit too... cliché, really. Pretty sure she'd hit me if I got her that. Her name is Rose, see. Not really sure what I would get instead, though....

[After all, he's pretty sure no flower arrangement in the universe could fully convey the whole 'sorry-for-getting-you-trapped-in-another-universe-and-never-being-able-to-see-you-again-but-hey-you-got-your-mum-and-dad-and-an-eventual-kid-brother-but-then-sorry-again-for-leaving-you-there-a-second-time-with-a-clone-of-myself-even-if-he-is-me-technically-and-sorry-for-never-responding-to-that-whole-love-confession-thing-on-the-beach-even-if-you-don't-really-remember-the-second-part-of-all-this-because-it-hasn't-happened-yet-for-you' side of things...]

Otherwise I just need something in a royal sort of blue for the other person I have in mind. Probably got too much of that, but oh I know she likes the color. Loves it, really.

[ roses for rose? sounds like a bad joke to yukari. she'll have to think on that a bit more ]

Hmmm, I dunno about the first, but what about Forget-Me-Nots? Or are those also too cliché?

[ she's just getting warmed up. ]

Forget-Me-Nots? [He lets out a grunt and a rush of air] Not cliché as much as- Do you think she'd read those as me saying I'm leaving or anything like that?

[To be honest, he's still hovering around the thought of getting Rose roses, simply for the humor value. But there's this little, nagging voice that keeps warning that might just be in bad taste...]

[ a momentary pause ]

How sensitive is she?

[His pause is even longer. And comes with a private filter.]

Weeeell....

On the one hand, she's been around soldiers for a year or so, even carries her own gun... and she knows its from me and I don't really get human traditions about things like this all that well...

But on the other hand, we've... we have a bit of history, us. And its not all sunshine and daisies. We lost each other for a while, and she said... but I never did, really. She knows, she's always known, I think.

.... I think it'd mean a lot to her, but she's not normally sensitive, in that sense. Not really. [Which is another way of saying she is, but the Doctor is just far too oblivious to have picked up the little signals over the years.]

[ and now it's time for the long, awkward pause. this was so much more information than yukari had bargained for, and she's not quite sure what to do with it. in fact for most of the pause, she's simply staring at her cellphone like it's sprouted a sentient head. ]

I kinda meant emotionally sensitive. Like... would she overreact to getting flowers like that. 'Cause if she is, then... Yeeeah, Forget-Me-Nots aren't for her.

[ looking that "human" bit away for later prodding, however. ]

If you wanna play it safe, there's always violets. Despite the name they're not always purple.

[Sentient head, no. Babbling Time Lord going out on a limb because of something important, and something where this might be his only chance to do so? Yes. Very much yes.]

Violets? [He pauses for just another moment before letting out a purely relieved laugh] Right, sorry, yes! Brain bigger than a few dozen galaxies - metaphorically - and you'd think I'd remember violets.

Do you know of a place or two to go looking for them, by any chance?

[ yukari has never met as many interesting people before she got here to the port. she hardly knows what to do with herself sometimes, but hey! she can at least attempt to be helpful. ]

Bigger than... [ right, okay moving on! ] Well, violets aren't really the first thing people think of when flowers are mentioned. Roses are more popular. Buuut, I think I saw a flower shop right around here.

[ and with that, there are directions sent to his device. yukari might not be good with tech, but she can do that much! ]
