[Anyone familiar with Souji Seta's apartment will recognize where Yosuke is immediately. He's sitting on the bed, which is unmade in a way it never would be if Souji had anything to say about it. There are cups of tea sitting around too, abandoned and forgotten. For all of that, Yosuke doesn't seem relaxed or well-rested. He just looks a little mussed and out of it.]
I'unno 'f anyone. Uh. Who needsta know. But somebody...he had a job. So-so, 'f you worked with him he's not playin' hooky, alright? I waited t' make sure. A while. Long time. 'Cause he wasn't answering, so I-um.
Anyway, 'm doin' this wrong. I just mean-um. Mean that Souji Seta is gone. Is all. So, please excuse him from work.
[Sorry, Portians. He's usually friendler, really. It's just been a bad month. Wake him up when September ends?]
(OoC: For people who don't know, Souji Seta is Yosuke's canon best friend and was his sole cast mate. Who also made the mistake of giving him a bottle of vodka to celebrate his 17th birthday. Whoops.)

But... Nill stops a little, and stares up at the medic, at a loss for what to tell them. It takes a minute for her to gather a proper train of thought, but she has the time because the elevator is slow.]
It's A. I don't know of any allergies.
He didn't try to kill himself.
[He wouldn't do that. He'd know that if he did, she'd be the one to find him, and he wouldn't do that to her. If he would then-- why hadn't she--?
It was ridiculous to think that Yosuke would do that. They were wrong.]
no subject
Roll him!
[They do, and more liquid dribbles out of his mouth and nose, which the medic clears manually for him before they strap him back in again. The elevator dings, and they step out into the lobby. There are flashing lights out the front window-the ambulance.]
What's the history of his eating disorder, and the self mutilation? The more you can tell us, the easier it will be to help him. There are track marks in his left arm. Is he a junkie? We need to know so we can help him.
no subject
For a moment though, as the medic talks, the world goes red. They had it wrong, so wrong, everything was wrong, first they thought he tried to kill himself and now they thought he was a junkie and that he hurt himself and they were idiots. THEY WERE ALL MORONS.
Nill has to take a few deep breaths to calm herself, to get her breathing back to a somewhat normal level instead of the shallow little spikes it'd been a moment ago.]
He was involved in the second hunt that went on awhile ago. He didn't do that to himself. He isn't a junkie. He can't eat when he's stressed.
[For the millionth time in her life, Nill wishes she could scream.]
no subject
[That's the female medic, who has remained mostly silent until now. Her partner rolls his eyes a bit, though after they load Yosuke into the ambulance he does motion Nill to hop in.]
What hunt is that? Is he a bounty hunter? He sure doesn't look like a bounty hunter to me. Are you sure he was telling you the truth? What kind of stress is a kid like that under? Those are $400 shoes he's wearing, you know. So you might as well tell me the truth. Does he do drugs? Sell drugs? Sell himself? Or is he just a rich kid acting out? Did his girlfriend dump him? His boyfriend? Psych will need to know these things.
no subject
Fuck all of these people.]
Just shut up and help him.

We're doing all we can for him without the rest of the story. But he might need charcoal or dialysis or an injection to his heart if there's something you haven't told-
[And then, the monitor that the first medic had just finished hooking Yosuke up to makes a sudden cacophony. The first medic curses.]
This part isn't pretty, you'll want to look away and count to a hundred.
no subject
Charcoal? She doesn't understand. An injection to his heart? It was alcohol! The problem was in his stomach!!
Nill watches Yosuke, and then looks up at the medic long enough to glare him.
You, dear medic, can go fuck yourself.
Nill steels herself, and she watches, because it's not like there aren't already a million terrible images in her head anyway.]
no subject
Something snaps loudly in Yosuke's chest, but his eyes open again for a moment. It's clearly a reflex, but the medics check the monitors again and seem relieved. There's an obvious and humiliating -if he were conscious anyway- wet spot in the blankets now, and Yosuke jerks again, prompting another rolling and clearing of his airways after the liquid leaks out. The process is repeated a few times, which the female medic is thinking to herself is a good thing, but the male seems to think is a bad sign.
When it's over, they get Yosuke settled again and pick his respiration back up again. They're only a few blocks away, now, and traveling quickly. Medic 2 radios in again to let the hospital know they'll be there in under two minutes, and that the patient arrested once during transport, and they'll want to have a code team ready.]
no subject
Nill watches in silence, though her breathing has picked up again to that shallow, fast rate, and the whole inside of the ambulance looks grey. She feels ill and shaky, even though she's still angry, still terrified. Nothing feels right, nothing is right, because if she had shown up even five minutes later, Yosuke would probably be dead.
A code team. What did that mean? They were both thinking different things. Did they even know what they were doing? Was his heart going to stop again?
This was a completely different kind of fear than the sort Nill had experienced in the past, and she doesn't know what to do with it, how to move. She's not sure she could move right now.
Two minutes felt like a life time.]
He owes her so bad for this...
He's 17? You're accepting billing? No known prior attempts? He's been in the city since last May? No allergies?
He really, really does. :|
She nods to all of the questions, because she can't argue at this point, and she's not sure she'd be able to operate her fingers enough to use the NV. It feels like such a waste of time to be worrying about things like that right now.]
yeah...
I know him. That's not Seta Souji, his name is Yosuke. He has a prior, doctor. This young lady will help me find his chart.
[And she gives Nill's shoulder a little squeeze.]
C'mon, dear. Let's get you some tea while they admit your friend.
no subject
So, though she looks unhappy about it, Nill nods, even if she doesn't exactly look at nurse Sa'ida.]
no subject
[It's not clear if she means Yosuke or Nill, but she leads Nill to the waiting room and makes good on her promise of tea, getting the hot water from a room off to the side. It's lavender, again.]
Is this related to what happened before? I've seen a few people come back in after those, and they're always bad the second time around too.
[She clucks her tongue, and holds the tea out for Nill.]
You've been brave for him, haven't you? It's alright. The doctors will take care of him now. Sit here and rest.
no subject
Her grip finally loosens so she can take the cup of tea offered to her, and slowly Nill sinks into a chair in the room. She looks up at the nurse for a moment, before looking back down at the NV. She types up a message, finally (more slowly than usual), and holds it up for her to see.]
I told them he wasnt Souji
they didn't believe me
no subject
[She shakes her head a bit, and rummages in a large file along the back wall. It's full of all the non-current admission from the fiscal year. It only takes her a few minutes to find the chart. Not even long enough for the tea to go cold.]
I'll take this to them and be right back.
no subject
Nill looks into her tea cup while the nurse is busy, though she doesn't actually drink any for the moment. She looks up at her and nods - she wasn't going anywhere - but after she just looks down at the tea again.]

The kids who come in half dead and severely traumatized, and are released in pieces, back to a hostile environment. It's no wonder, she's thinking, they cycle through here in the same way all of the time. No one fixes the real problems, all they can do is patch up the wounds and mend the bones.
Nill is probably one of these kids too, she decides. Poor girl won't even speak to people anymore. And who can blame her? No one's listening anyway.
On the outside, she just smiles professionally, and nods to acknowledge Nill when she walks back in.]
It's going to be a little while before you can see him. But you got there in time. You did well.

When she looks at her hands, she sees Shika; the time he'd protected her from the blast when the apartment building was destroyed, and he was bleeding everywhere and she'd needed to ask the network for help--
Nill had consulted the network five times in her time in the port, and it was rarely for good reasons.
Then it's her senpai, hearing the news, knowing he was gone, that he'd died and left them again and that this time he probably wasn't coming back.
Next she sees Dave, the sick boy in the hospital room who was just as miserable and alone on the inside as she was, and now he was gone too.
Then there's Allen, and she can actually see his blood on her hands, still smell it clinging to the air. He could have died that night.
And now Yosuke, too. The Yosuke that actually cared about her, the boy who had made it his mission to look after her, and if she'd been a minute slower, he wouldn't be here right now.
Sa'ida is still gone, and Nill brings her hands up and drops her face into them, letting out a shaky breath and trying very hard not to cry.
When was she going to be strong enough to keep situations like this from happening? When would she finally be able to protect people? Allen had said she'd saved him, but if she were stronger he wouldn't have needed saving in the first place.
Nill looks relatively normal when the nurse finally comes back, though her tea remains untouched.
For as much as Sa'ida was wrong about, she was also very right. It wouldn't matter if she had a voice, because no one would listen to her anyway. She could scream and it wouldn't make a difference.
Why did she even bother? People didn't listen; They didn't care. Sa'ida was proof enough of that. She didn't even realize Nill was mute.
Nill doesn't return the smile, but she nods her head in acknowledgment and then looks back down to her hands. It would have been better if she hadn't taken so long to find him. This - waiting to see him because he'd nearly died - wasn't doing well at all. It wasn't even close.
Shika... Shika, how did you do this for so long? It's all so pointless, and it never gets better.]
I NEVER REPLIED TO THIS? ...Wow, I seriously suck. Sorry!
So, the nurse pulls out the chair at the desk and starts to work on some sort of paperwork while Nill waits.]
If you need anything, don't be afraid to ask.
No worries. <3
...Not that she hadn't thought about it. Not that she hadn't had a plan, a way to just stop for awhile and hopefully she wouldn't start up again, but she couldn't do that anymore. The plan was scrapped, and Nill was still here.
Maybe that meant she had already snapped, and there was just no helping her. She nods up at the nurse, but otherwise stays where she is. And she waits.]

Yosuke's room is semi-private, whether because of billing assuming generosity on Nill's part or because the cheap beds were full is difficult to say.
He's propped up on some pillows, with the bed elevated so he won't choke if he gets sick. Not that there's much of anything left anyway. The doctors were pretty thorough. He's conscious, but definitely not looking very healthy. His skin still has a slight blueish tint to it, in spite of all the blankets he's huddled under.
When Nill walks in, there's a spark of recognition and relief in his eyes, and he makes a weak attempt at sitting up for her that ends rather pathetically in failure. He grunts quietly from the exertion, and puts a hand up to his spinning head. Ow. Oof...
Still, Nill being there warrants a guilty but genuine smile.]
You stayed?
no subject
Of course I stayed.
[The words are softer than usual. Nill takes a seat in the chair for visitors.]
I wouldn't leave you.
