[Diego is sitting at his desk at the prosecutor's office. There is a large stack of paperwork in front of him. He picks up the top sheet, casually sipping his coffee with his other hand.]

Thirteen suspects. Let's add it up.

One hundred and thirty counts of willful destruction of property. Twenty-six counts of arson. Ninety-one counts of assault, twenty-six counts of assault with a deadly weapon and thirteen counts of assault by misuse of powers. And last but certainly not least, fifty-two counts of manslaughter.

[A long sip of coffee.]

Now all I need is names.

I'd rather they just not break the law at all, blatant or not.

If we want equal protection under the law, we need to prove ourselves capable of obeying the law. That means equal punishment as well.

The law will never be equal. To do that requires the natives to see us as human. something they don't want to do, and frankly, some Newcomers don't give a damn about.

But they do deserve to be punished.

Of course they don't want to see us as human. It's too easy for them to "other" us and see us as the enemy when so many of us are ready and willing to riot, to murder and destroy at the drop of a hat.

Do they think those people deserve protection under their laws, deserve to be in their city? Of course not.
