I don't care if you think they got sent home, if they have an alibi, if they're supposed to be on a week-long vision quest, I don't care. If there's someone, anyone who you can't get ahold of and isn't absolutely definitely accounted for-

[Mary stops, folds, unfolds her hands. When her sleeve pulls back slightly, you can see a pair of handcuffs around one wrist.]

There might be another Hunt going on. We have to figure out now how many people are missing. Rationalizing where they might be, telling yourself it's not a big deal- forget that. We don't have time to second-guess.

I'm starting the list with Yosuke, Bigby Wolf, and Jesse Turner.

[Her hands are shaking a little. She grits her teeth slightly.]

Michael, everyone from last time- if you know where the grounds are, please. We need to stop this.

I need to think of something. We can't let this slide.

But Ahiru, you can't do anything like this. Crowley's powers are dangerous.

I can't. I don't know if they're all alive in there, and I don't know that, whatever happens, the people taking care of this won't get hurt.

the people taking care of it? there has to be a way that won't risk even more people's lives

Anything safe means lying down and giving them more chances to hurt us. Last time the police didn't listen to us and the media wouldn't even talk to us. We have to do something.

[motioned]

if we do anything they'll definitely hurt us though

This is the third time Spencer's put on a hunt like this. I'm tired of it. A lot of people are tired of it.

Lying down and trying to be safe hasn't gotten us anything.

[motioned]

it hasn't gotten us anything but it hasn't taken as much away from us as the alternative

if people go in there and do anything they're going to use that as an excuse to target ALL of us

i know they've taken kids and that's horrible, this whole thing is horrible, this place is horrible, but not as horrible as if we do something and they start targeting every kid and every adult and every other newcomer on this island

and there are things we can do that are peaceful

Like what? Political parties, attempts at getting laws changed- it's worked a little, sure, but they still hate us and they're hunting us openly. The police are protecting him and nobody cares.

It's going to get worse. If he keeps doing hunts, more people will hear about them, more people will know, and soon everyone will know that it's open season on us and nobody will do anything about it but vandalize the only memorial we have to our dead.

This isn't perfect. Maybe it isn't even good or right. But it's something, it's more, and it's making people care about what's happening.

it's going to get worse a lot faster if anyone tries anything without thinking about it first! i'm not saying we shouldn't do something, i'm saying we have to be careful or more people are going to get killed than necessary

do you think people don't already care? maybe not the natives, but i care! my friend is out there!

The natives are the ones making our lives hell. They're the ones killing us, torturing us, and making us suffer just for existing. They surround us, and they don't care what happens to us. They're our jailers.

[motioned]

and sending people in there will only make the way they treat us worse!

It gets worse no matter what they do.

Those grounds need to be destroyed.

so it can get worse for everyone, and they can have an excuse to target every newcomer more aggressively?

i know it needs to stop i just don't think this is the way to do it

I know. But the slow, right way won't get anything done. It'll take decades before we're safe here, maybe even centuries.

did you just say you know it's going to get worse for everyone if you do this? so your solution is really to make the violence escalate even more than it already has?

then at least wait to do something until we have a way to protect the people you're going to put in danger if you organize something like this

[momchester]

I know anything will make it worse. Anything we do will make things worse, Ahiru, there isn't another way. If we try to go after him legally, if the police even listen to us this time, he'll come after us and the people we care about, he'll pay off the courts, and go back to hunting us. If we try to kill him, his people will come after us and we'll be vilified by everyone for murdering a citizen. Anything we do will screw things up. They've forced us into a corner, and every other answer means quietly being stepped on.

so instead of quietly getting stepped on we're going to loudly get stepped on

well we're obviously not going to agree so i guess i just hope you're ready for it when even more people start getting murdered because of this

do you have a plan for afterwards or are you just winging it?

[momchester]

The plan isn't even two hours old. It's still coming together.

We know healers, flyers, people who can take care of our wounded.

This will blow open police investigation, and when it does we'll have the chance to speak and be heard. They can't ignore us if every single witness says the same thing about the hunts.

It's messy, but salvageable.

there have been times people blew up sero warehouses, did that stop sero? no, it made people hate us more. this is going to accomplish the exact same thing

i'm sorry if i was rude i'm just upset and i want someone to listen to me. i know i'm younger than you and i might not have as much experience with things like this but this is my home, too, and i don't want my friends to get hurt more than they would have ordinarily because of a bad decision

People are talking. They're planning. Some of the people involved would have done something destructive anyway, but with a lot more mass murder instead of just property damage.
