008. Video
[ Nathan has found himself a shirt and tie, and feels a lot more like himself than he did when he arrived. He's set the NV up very carefully, framing himself against a backdrop of the city, as though he's making a political broadcast. The clear afternoon sunlight glances from a beautifully blue ocean behind the tallest of Siren's Port's buildings. ]
Reckon I've got this thing all figured out now. I understand I'm addressing all Newcomers, but I don't know how to narrow this down so I'm just talking to people who've been here longer than I have--sorry about that.
My name is Nathan Petrelli--that's Senator Petrelli. I've got a background in politics, formerly law; I was an ADA. Before that I spent some time as a pilot for the US Navy. Figure that over-qualifies me for a job down at Costco.
To that end I'm looking for someone called Raul Creed, or anyone else who can tell me about the Newcomer Political Party. Also, if it's not too much trouble, I'd like to hear from anyone who can shed some light on getting back into law. Reckon all those years of study have got to qualify me for something. I'll settle for anything gets me out of this rat-hole.
Audio; Private to Peter

But it's not Nathan's admittedly full resume that catches his interest. It is a name.]
Raul Creed. I know who he is. You should attempt to call him via his feed number. It's listed practically all over the city. He has his fingers in most everything associated with citizenship in this city.
[And then, a pause, before Crowley continues.]
Did you serve in war, Senator Petrelli?
I'll need to know before casting my vote.
[Voice]
In the early nineties, yes. Bosnia, Serbia and Rwanda.
[ He shouldn't assume that everyone here should know anything about it, considering he's met a Japanese girl and a Second World War fighter pilot so far, yet it's a mistake he keeps on making. ]
[Voice]
[Given the accent, and all -- though Crowley has to catch himself from having his tone tilt slightly into a laugh.
No sway.
Crowley owns a sizable amount of the soul population of the extraordinarily conservative right of the United States. George Bush and Dick Cheney didn't win that election because of their superior intellect, after all.]
[Voice]
My time in the military showed me how hard it is out there. Gave me a new appreciation for scotch, too.
[ His life is so hard. ]
[Voice]
Scotch? Your preference?
[Voice]
[ Don't put tequila past him though he will totally take you. The problem is that he can't actually get drunk any more and can't figure out how that happened. He's blaming the alcohol around here. ]
You know where to find liquor that actually works?

I am Raul Creed, Mr. Petrelli. A pleasure to make your acquaintance. You wouldn't happen to be related to Peter Petrelli, would you? Not that you need to tell me, but this is not the first time I've heard that last name.
What is it you would like to know?
I'd be interested in anything you can tell me about the NPP's policies, and what services they perform for the community, if you could. I assume there's a brochure? Maybe a website?
There is a brochure, but we've had a few changes to our community in the past few weeks, and I would rather give you a current one. I'll have my assistant send you one straight away. As for the policies, we are a group committed to helping both Newcomers and citizens, and working to make sure the two groups can live peacefully. This has yet to happen, but these things do take time. We have a board of seven members right now, and we are based out of our offices in the Newcomer Community Center, which you may have passed when you were walking away from the baseball diamond. We have meetings once a month, and open forum meetings every two to three months.
I don't suppose a drop in meeting is out of the question to discuss what I read? If you have time, of course.

Any relation to Peter, by any chance??
[voice]
Peter is my kid brother. [ Deliberate use of the word 'kid' there to be as willfully condescending as possible. ]
Re: [voice]
I see. I take it you've found one another, then?
[voice]
We caught each other when I showed up. Managed to post to the network upside down, but I figured it all out eventually. You a friend?
[voice]
Good. Ah... He's a colleague? A nurse, so- we've both worked at Skye, and the community clinic.
[voice]
[ He tilts his head slightly. ] Not working there right now, though, is he? [ That's what happens when you harbour a criminal. ]
