video;
To the new arrivals to the city, my name is Re-l Mayer and I'm a corporal for the Siren's Port Police Department. I'm also a Newcomer case worker and I'm always willing to help people should they need housing, jobs, or other information in the city. For instance, the SPPD is always hiring for several of its departments, provided you have the skill set and stomach for the job. You can speak with me if you're interested or you can go to the department building in Sector 4 and speak with Chief Miller.
[She doubts anyone's going to apply for the job considering how officers are treated in the city, but at least she can say she tried to recruit people.]
Raul Creed of the Newcomer Political Party recently brought up the Citizenship Tests that are going to be coming up soon. It's a test that is open for Newcomers to apply for citizen rights in the city, which will give them added protection and security. There are manuals that will be distributed this Friday at the Newcomer Community Center for those who are interested in studying for the test. I'll be holding a six hour class that day for people to familiarize themselves with the material before the test. The class will run from 10am-4pm with a half an hour break for lunch.
With that, the Newcomer Community Center will be holding classes for other various subjects starting next Monday. Most of these are very basic classes for cooking, writing and reading, language arts, and other various skill sets. An official list of classes and their instructors will be posted prior to the class on Friday for those who wish to look over what will be offered.
If you have any questions about the classes, feel free to call me, see me in my office, or speak to me over the network.
[She starts to say something else but ends up pausing to cough once and clear her throat.]
...Finally, I just wanted to ask the network's opinion on something. I'm well aware that we have a Greeter Protection Program and we have the Newcomer Community Center, both of which are 'programs' used to provide safe environments for Newcomers and other workers.
Do you think the Newcomer population should have something more in terms of protection from the natives, the companies, and even from ourselves? Or do you believe that what's in place - governmental procedures and the SPPD - are enough? [She pauses.] I'm not advocating for people to come up with new options. I'm simply asking for opinions based on what you've seen and the situation you had back in your home worlds. That's all.
[ooc: There'll be some sort of formal list of classes and instructors on the OOC comm later in the week. People who are still interested in offering subjects and instructors, feel free to let me know here or in a PM!]

[Pot, meet kettle, though her new arrival isn't a criminal or a murderer.]
But you do agree that there needs to be something better.
permavoice
I should think there need be no alert when they are posting all over the network of their exploits. Often with pictures.

[The problem is that she needs some Void-tech to catch Sylar, and SERO's not coughing any up for her.]
no subject
Little reason many think vigilantes are necessary.
no subject
[And he choked her the other day when she tried once more.]
As far as the vampires go... I couldn't tell you.
no subject
Mm. That is part of the problem, is it not? Some people are so difficult to contain.
no subject
[A pause.]
Do you have suggestions?
no subject
[A faint smile that belies his apparent thirteen years.]
Attune wards using his blood and flesh. Pull out his soul and trap it in a jar. Turn him into a mouse and put him in a cage. Or a fish and a pond.
no subject
I don't have the capability to do any of that. And I don't think some of those things are ethical.
no subject
Find someone is capable.
Is it ethical to allow him to continue on as he does?
no subject
[That fish and mouse idea was pretty nifty, though...]
no subject
[He thinks so, too.]

no subject
Laid a curse down on his head that whatsoever he does against another would be visited upon his person thricefold?
