[So it does happen on occasion that Sora likes to play Sherlock. This particular evening, inspiration strikes while in the midst of training exercises in the woods (taught to him some time ago by a certain blue haired master). His hair's a little mussed, outfit slightly askew. But here's something new! Sora's sporting some new duds: At the moment, his left arm's covered in what appears to be some well-crafted armor.]

I've been thinking... Back in my world, there used to things called Gates that helped get you from place to place. Thing is, they weren't all that easy to find, and they didn't just open for anybody or for any reason.

Only, if I'm right, I just might know a way to make this work!

[Hence, his next question. It's completely relevant to the previous matter, he promises:]

What's most important to you? What's something you guys just can't go without?

[Tell the sixteen year old about your precious items, Siren's Port. So he can ask to see it. Toss it in the air. Point a weapon at it.]

[It'll turn out just fine.]

I think it depends on what kind of things you mean! Like, material things, or anything?

Anything!

[Mostly material things, he thinks to himself. But Siren's Port has always been unpredictable: it could be people, places. Better to cover all his bases.]

[Hmm. Now to give an example:] I remember back home, there was this membership card my friends gave me: "Hollow Bastion Restoration Committee". They'd made me an honorary member. It had my name on it and everything.

Oh, so something important that your friends gave you would work fine, right?

How come you're wondering?

That'd do it.

Mostly I'm wondering because that's how it works back home. Whenever I'd get stuck on a world, if I wanted to get to the next one, I'd have to find the item that unlocked the Gate.

And when I thought about it, I realized most of the items were really important to the people on that world. They had a lot of memories behind it. They meant a lot to somebody on that world.

[See what he's getting at now, Ahiru?]

You really think you could get us all out of here? [Mixed feelings about that one, though she pushes away her worry by telling herself it's what most people would want. Her tone doesn't change from it's normal cheeriness.]

Do you know where the gate would be?

Nope! Usually, I'll know it when I find it. The keyblade lets me know.

And yeah, I think I could get us out! Once I open the gate, we'll be able to move back and forth pretty freely. Pretty cool, huh?

Well, good luck, then! I bet a lot of people would be really happy if you found a way.

[There's a beat of contemplation before she speaks.]

I'd definitely want to go home. But if you found a way to let us leave this world... Do you think we'd keep our memories?

I don't see why not! I've never lost any memories before that way. And unless the Core does anything crazy, I think we should be able to!

[And on a more serious note.] I think... if I knew I'd lose my memories of this place, I'd probably try and find another way. I can't forget what I've learned here. Not now.

That'd be really amazing.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to forget any of the people who I've met here. They all mean too much to me. Even if I wouldn't be able to see them if we all went to different worlds... I would still want to remember my friends.

And I think... we should be able to remember.

I mean, if we don't? Then what's the point of coming here to Siren's Port at all?

I'd like to think that some part of us remembers, even if it's not in our memories. Like... Deep down, I'd like to think that the people I've known who have left still remember me even if they don't know they do. You know?

But I still don't want to go home until there's a bigger chance I'll remember. All the memories I've made here are really important to me.

Me too. I think if I couldn't keep my memories, I might stay a little longer. Some things I'd wanna take back with me. Because if I don't remember, no one else will.

[Everyone else who could is pretty much... not there anymore.]

Even if it feels like I've been here a little too long.

You must really miss being back home by now, huh?

Kind of?

[On the mark, actually. Home, and maybe a little more than that. And as he goes on, there's a fondness that enters into his voice.]

It's probably because it's been a long time since we've stayed in just one place.

Me and Donald and Goofy-- we're always on the move. We saw new worlds all the time. There was always something to do, or new bad guys to fight. New friends to make and help out too!

That sounds really exciting! It must have been a lot of fun. I bet you miss them a lot, too.

When you travel so much with somebody, you get used to seeing them around all the time.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. But if this works, you'll be able to see them really soon!

[His expression brightens a little. Ahiru always seems to know just what to say.]

I will! After all, I'm probably gonna need their help. Me and Riku've got a long way ahead of us when we leave Siren's Port.

Yeah? What're you going to do?

The King sent us a letter asking us to help some people first.

So just a few more things, and then we can head home together. Me, Riku and Kairi.

The King of what?

King Mickey. He's from Disney Castle. He's sort of an expert on the worlds, and sometimes he asks us to do things that'll really help out everyone.

He's actually the one who sent Goofy and Donald to find me, and help me out in the beginning. He's also really good friends with Riku.

We couldn't have gotten this far without him.

He sounds like a really amazing person. What kind of stuff did he ask you to do?
