[When the feed comes on, Fred isn't really looking at it. The sun is setting and she looks sick. Wiping away traces of blood from her mouth she finally speaks.]

Wesley? I think-- [Things have mostly come back. She was here. She was definitely here before. For months. And-- and Connor. She had her memories of Connor replaced here. Angel and Angelus. And Lucifer. Her eyes go wide.]

Angel? Angel are you still here? [Oh God, she'd died. She remembered the pain and the blood and her body was so broken. Her hand moves to her mouth in shock.]

Chuck. Oh God, please. Someone tell me if Chuck is okay. [She swallows. So much had happened.]

And Lucifer. The vampires. I-- remember. I was here and I died. And I loved someone. I remember it. But I went home and-- [And she's going to die. Her eyes fall down and she just can't deal with all of this. The last shot before it turns black is a second or so of tears starting to fall.]

I meant- you obviously care about Fred. I mean, you weren't full of it when you told me that.

So you see something in her that's worthy of saving. That's- valuable. On a personal level. Dude, that's a good thing.

[This is great as long as you ignore that this conversation appears to be causing him either physical pain or constipation.]

Then stop trying to tell me that what I want to save in her is a dime a dozen. It's not. It doesn't change what you think it changes.

[And finally, a smirk.]

How do you see me, anyway? Really?

[That smirk, more than anything, crawls all the way under his skin just like it always does, but Chuck clamps down hard on old habits.]

Well... okay. [Deep breath.] I see you as someone who can change, probably more than you do. I think you could admit you were wrong if you had enough time to grow, I even think you could find a way to be somebody more than what those years in Hell did to you.

I mean- why- why do you think I even tried to talk about this right here? If I thought I was wasting my time, I wouldn't. I get PMS-y and pissed but that doesn't change what I think at the end of the day.

...But I wasn't wrong. If you're waiting for me to say that I regret fighting for my freedom, or my brothers, you'll never hear it.

That's not the part I mean. And that's why- I didn't think you'd wanna hear this? But. I still think you were wrong in how you did it? I'm never gonna change that. You know, it's about... method.

I think you're capable of realizing some day that the ends don't justify the means. And please, I really don't want you to take that to mean that I think you're- I don't even know. It's supposed to be a compliment.

[Lucifer considers that in silence. There's a niggling in there, wanting to acknowledge what Chuck says because it is true. How he did it was wrong, or else he would have won. (Which isn't what Chuck means, but it's leaps and bounds beyond Lucifer's stubbornness of years ago).

There is a part of Lucifer that still regrets killing his siblings. He will never be able to forget how much he loved them. But that's a dead weight, an obstacle, and so he ignores it and rationalizes it.]

No, I see what you mean. I'm not offended.

[It's all Chuck will get.]

[Chuck can see a brick wall when it's in front of his face. He nods simply.]

I'm still pissed about the vampires, but I'm not gonna go rousing the villagers or anything.

[Which isn't even close to apologizing for screaming at him over her body, but suck on it, he's not sorry. Sort of.]

Oh, that's good. For them. Eden would pull their eyes out.

[The bird flits over when she hears her name and lands on Lucifer's shoulder.]

She isn't exactly magical.

[She's just a bird. But he gives her a fond little smile.]

No. But she's not afraid of me anymore, so I don't hold it against her.
