01 [video]
[About half an hour before this feed goes live, the more spiritually sensitive inhabitants may have felt the arrival of a very, very potent source of spiritual energy interrupting their senses. Sorry about that, he can't help it.
The NV feed being broadcast is video, it’s after dark and someone seems to have accidentally pressed the video function while trying to get to grips with their newly acquired piece of tech. And now he’s picking a fight with it.]
Send- damn it what the hell kind of piece of crap are you?! Don’t give me that ‘number is not in service’ bullshit I know that damn number’s right!
[There’s a beep and apparently this is enough to make the orange haired boy on the other end of the line growl in frustration.]
What the hell kind of phone are you supposed to be you piece of junk!
[It looks suspiciously like the NV is about to be hurtled at the nearest wall, and now viewers can very plainly see an annoyed teenage face scowling at the screen as it is held at arm’s length, before he seems to notice that the red light next to the camera is on and…]
Crap is this thing on? Hello? Anyone there?
[And then he sighs, moving the NV back down to a more user friendly distance and glowering at the camera.]
Okay, if anyone’s paying attention then I need to know how the hell to get to the asshole who thought dragging me here was a good idea. Or you can point me in the direction of someone who can help.
And, uh, anyone know what the international code to dial Japan is? I need to call home and let 'em know I'm gonna be late for dinner.
[There’s a pause… and then he seems to be mulling something over. What he is considering is whether or not to explicitly call out the familiar sources of reiatsu he can feel in this strange new city he’s found himself in, thus a) exposing his Shinigami allies where they may not want to be exposed or b) making him sound like a crazy person if they’re not here and he’s just imagining it all through displacement induced wishful thinking. He opts for a happy medium, scowl still etched on his face.]
Oi. I can feel that you’re here, y’ know. Anyone feel like saying hi or am I on my own out here?
[But that scowl's still not gone. He really looks like he's weighing up his options here, and then, with a rub of his neck and a sigh (because he knows in advance he's going to regret asking this but he doesn't have a choice), he adds this little beauty to the end of his transmission. Desperate times call for desperate measures.]
And I'm kinda missing a corpse. I had it before I got here and now it's gone. Anybody seen one?

And I'm kinda missing a corpse. I had it before I got here and now it's gone. Anybody seen one?
voice;
Yes, you already explained that you bury the body.
[Speaking slowly now. Maybe he just ... doesn't know.] But what I'd like to know is why ... [Gently -- ] You do realize that the body will just fade away, right?
voice;
...No. His won't. Human bodies don't do that.
voice;
And she's right about to tell him so. Although ... ...
There's something in his voice that deters her from pushing the matter. It's best to just feign ignorance.]
... Maybe it's only the human bodies in the world where I'm from that fade, then.
[It isn't impossible to say that there are bodies who don't fade, right? ... She's just not sure.]
voice;
I guess. Different things for different places, right?
[...and Arrancar. Arrancar fade away. Into dust.]
...but his didn't. And I've lost it. So... uh... you know, if you see one...
voice;
I've heard that bodies don't fade here in this world, but I figured it to be a fluke.
[Awkward. Awkward everywhere.]
... Um. Yes, if I happen upon one ...
voice;
[Yes. So much awkward here. Can you feel it.]
Thanks.
voice;
[ ... Talk about unsettling. What does this say about her? And her Master -- and everyone her Master has ever seen die? Sure, the monsters fade, but they're monsters. Not the same ... hardly the same.
... And that is why he needs to find the corpse he lost. She gets it.]
S-So, if I do happen upon this misplaced body ... to whom do I return it?
[A roundabout way of asking his name. A desperate effort to kill the awkward.]
Re: voice;
[...and he suspects that he will forever be 'that weird guy who lost a body' but them's the breaks.]
No offense, but I kinda hope you don't find it. Finding a body's not a lot of fun.
voice;
[If you could just see her face right now. SO UNSURE. Should she even ask? She had better, just in case.]
... Why not?
voice;
Because- look take it from me. It's not something you want to have to see.
voice;
I ... think I understand.
[It's probably frightening, isn't it? An empty body, a castaway shell. And if you know the person ... it's even worse. She literally cannot even imagine. It's a macabre frame of mind -- one she's not really used to. One she doesn't want to get used to.]
... I'll just take your word for it.
[She clears her throat gently, fiddling with her hair brush.]
I'm Aqua, by the way.
[And hopefully she won't be the one to find your lost friend.]
voice;
[It's not a nice thought, or sight. Even worse when the first time you see a body, it belongs to the center of your very young universe, and it's lying on top of you going cold in the rain. Ichigo wouldn't wish that on anyone, even under less traumatising circumstances.]
Yeah, it's not something you want to get used to seeing if you can help it.
You been here long?
voice; sorry for short tag!
Since November ... [Too long.]
voice; no problemo
That sucks.
voice;
Yeah ... it does 'suck'. But it sucks a lot more in the beginning, you know?
[Fidgeting with the NV.]
I got lucky. Both of my friends were here when I arrived.
[A pause.]
You aren't alone ... are you?
voice;
[Family's not here though; that was the first thing he checked after feeling twinges of familiar reiryoku in the city. He's relieved; the last thing he wants is for Yuzu and Karin to wind up in danger in a strange city surrounded by monsters.]
If I was I'd manage somehow.
voice;
[And it makes all the difference. ... In her experience, anyway. For better or for worse, a familiar face makes the transition much less... jarring.]
I'm sure you would. You sound like you have a very strong heart.
voice;
Still, it's a nice sentiment.]
Uh... thanks. I guess.
voice;
I mean it. Don't prove me wrong, okay? The darkness of the city will test you, but stay strong out there.
voice;
[Not that his old man's been all that forthcoming on the ol' family history.
Or Kubo for that matter]Don't worry about me, I can handle myself in a fight.
