01 [video]
[About half an hour before this feed goes live, the more spiritually sensitive inhabitants may have felt the arrival of a very, very potent source of spiritual energy interrupting their senses. Sorry about that, he can't help it.
The NV feed being broadcast is video, it’s after dark and someone seems to have accidentally pressed the video function while trying to get to grips with their newly acquired piece of tech. And now he’s picking a fight with it.]
Send- damn it what the hell kind of piece of crap are you?! Don’t give me that ‘number is not in service’ bullshit I know that damn number’s right!
[There’s a beep and apparently this is enough to make the orange haired boy on the other end of the line growl in frustration.]
What the hell kind of phone are you supposed to be you piece of junk!
[It looks suspiciously like the NV is about to be hurtled at the nearest wall, and now viewers can very plainly see an annoyed teenage face scowling at the screen as it is held at arm’s length, before he seems to notice that the red light next to the camera is on and…]
Crap is this thing on? Hello? Anyone there?
[And then he sighs, moving the NV back down to a more user friendly distance and glowering at the camera.]
Okay, if anyone’s paying attention then I need to know how the hell to get to the asshole who thought dragging me here was a good idea. Or you can point me in the direction of someone who can help.
And, uh, anyone know what the international code to dial Japan is? I need to call home and let 'em know I'm gonna be late for dinner.
[There’s a pause… and then he seems to be mulling something over. What he is considering is whether or not to explicitly call out the familiar sources of reiatsu he can feel in this strange new city he’s found himself in, thus a) exposing his Shinigami allies where they may not want to be exposed or b) making him sound like a crazy person if they’re not here and he’s just imagining it all through displacement induced wishful thinking. He opts for a happy medium, scowl still etched on his face.]
Oi. I can feel that you’re here, y’ know. Anyone feel like saying hi or am I on my own out here?
[But that scowl's still not gone. He really looks like he's weighing up his options here, and then, with a rub of his neck and a sigh (because he knows in advance he's going to regret asking this but he doesn't have a choice), he adds this little beauty to the end of his transmission. Desperate times call for desperate measures.]
And I'm kinda missing a corpse. I had it before I got here and now it's gone. Anybody seen one?

Whaddya mean, no-one would answer? Something wrong with the phone line or something?
This is . . . a different place. It has Japan, but it's not your Japan, if that makes sense.
[Okay Kurosaki now is not the time to get pissed about your weird relationship with the dead.]
So what, are we talking a different dimension or something?
Of course it matters! If you had a dead body with you, that would mean something happened to make it dead, and if something happened to make it dead, you might be the cause of it, and if you were the cause of it, I really shouldn't be talking to you right now.
[Aoko logic. Fear it.]
Something like a different dimension. Did you have different dimensions where you were from?
Look, I was bringing him back for burial and I lost him, and in my book that's not a great omen, whatever dimension you get stuck in.
I know there's more than one dimension where I'm from... kinda. Isn't that kind of a weird question?
[Deflect! Deflect and say nothing of importance Kurosaki!]
. . . You're an embalmer?
[Better? Or just creepy? It's hard to say.]
Not really . . . you took the news really well, though. Most people freak out.
[Including herself, the first time.]
[...then for your sake Aoko you better hope you never find out that he sees dead people and, theoretically, is one.]
I guess I've just seen a lot of weird stuff.
[There were freakouts earlier. Not that he'll be openly admitting to that.]
[Okay, no, it's better. A little. As for Ichigo seeing/being one . . . well, it would weird her out for a while, but the human mind can get used to almost anything. Almost.]
. . . That's really bad, then. Do you need help?
[See? Complete 180 right there. As for seeing weird stuff . . . guess so, if you're dragging around dead people.]
So it is another dimension, but there's no way to go back. Not now, anyway. D'you know anything about them? --Dimensions, I mean.
I think I'm good; it's kinda weird to ask someone to help out with something like this. Besides, someone said something about monsters and it's probably safer if you don't.
[See? Chivalrous. But now, because he's curious...]
I know a little about a couple. What do you know?
[Aoko doesn't seem to have much to say about that first part. But immediately looks uncomfortable, eyes shifting sideways. But fortunately there's another bit to the conversation to distract.]
Wasn't really supposed to know much. We don't . . . have them back home. But then I got pulled to another place. A city, kind of like here. I don't remember much.
[Her eyes turn briefly distant, narrowed, as though trying to tug at a memory far away.]
Something we were supposed to save. Or . . . protect.
Then we got pulled here.
Re: [video]
Especially the part where she says she's been pulled to a different place twice.]
So this isn't the first time something like this has happened to you? And you got pulled with somebody you knew?
