Video-backdated a few hours to early afternoon
[The kid on the video doesn't look so hot. Not in an ate too much candy sort of way, either. He's pale and clammy and his lips aren't a healthy color. His eyes are dilated. He should probably be in bed. In fact, he probably is. But he's got something important to say first, judging by the serious expression on his face.]
Ah. I hope it doesn't ruin the holiday atmosphere, but I guess I should warn everyone. If someone gives you chocolates and you don't know them very well-
[He stops, curls up a bit. Ow, his freakin' insides...but before he can properly complain about those, he bumps something behind him. It turns out to be a plastic IV line, and when the cart falls over it tugs him hard enough to make him knock his head against a vacuum chamber, hanging around conveniently in case any patients in the area need their stomach pumped. Yosuke makes a frustrated, whiny sound.]
Ow! Ugh...anyway, please don't take candy from strangers. It might make you sick.

Yosuke smiles at her permission, and his heart swells again. A kiss. Just like in a fairy tale. It makes him feel giddy, even with the medication and the toxins still in his system. He starts just by runnin the tip of his nose down her cheek by her hairline, lightly, to tickle her. Then he inhales her scent, and it causes his stomach to stir uncomfortably. Even more than a year later, she still gives him butterflies.
He goes for the spot where the underside of her jaw connects with her neck. There's a sweet little curve there, and it's not too close to anything that might make her panic, but it's still an area with soft skin. It might give her a little tingle maybe, so he's not the only one enjoying himself. He knows that spot drives him crazy, anyway.
And he does enjoy it. It's a chaste kiss, sure, but it still sends an electrical signal racing up his spine. What drugs can do for the mind is nothing compared to what the soft, sweet embrace of a girl can do. He's buzzed instantly, flying high. Soaring!
He has enough presence of mind to loosen his grip on Nill just in case she gets uncomfortable and needs to sit back, but not quite enough to notice the nurse coming in until she clears her throat loudly. Whoops...]
"I see you have a visitor, Mr. Hanamura."

She can't tell if the uncomfortable feeling in the pit of her stomach is meant to be good or bad. It's a lot like the butterflies he gets, and she feels secondhand from time to time, but it's not something she's ever had experience with.
Nill has seen drugs and alcohol enough though that the idea she might do more for him than that is a little embarrassing. In a good way, perhaps? No one has ever thought so highly of her. Let alone someone she really cared about.
In the end, Nill comes up with no answers to the questions that spring to mind during it, and just ends up with very pink cheeks. It's obvious she was distracted though, because when the nurse clears her throat, Nill starts the slightest bit, and quickly turns her head to stare at the nurse. She hadn't even heard her.
Help Yosuke, Nill looks slightly mortified. Oh, god, the nurse saw that, didn't she? gkdjhakgjdh
Though she's a little hesitance to do so, Nill sits up, because maybe that's what you're supposed to do when caught in a situation like this? It probably doesn't look as innocent as it is.]

"Visiting hours are-"
[Except, Yosuke stops her. No one talks to Nill like that in front of him. Anyway, this isn't the pediatric ward anymore. This time around, he's an adult. He has rights, and so do his loved ones. Especially since he got a glance at Nill's chart the last time she was in here.]
She's my wife. Check her ID if you want to. She can be here anytime she likes. And I'm allowed to kiss her.
no subject
She fumbles with her pocket, pulling out her NV. There's a small case on the back that she keeps her ID in at least half of the time (though not at night). She pulls it out to show the nurse.
Meanwhile, the idea of being Yosuke's wife is a whole other thing entirely. She doesn't even know what to say to that.]

Nurse Mercy shakes her head and sighs. "Try not to jostle him too much...ma'am. And you, keep in mind that it's going to feel worse over the few hours, not better. I don't want to hear you complaining about it later." And that, frankly, is all the patience she has for this patient. Damned kids.]
It's not that bad.
[Yosuke gives Nill a little grin, still a little too queasy to open his mouth, but wanting to reassure her anyway. He doesn't want to move too much, but just a little bit is alright. So he reaches over carefully and links his fingers with hers. In spite of the sickly feeling, he's pretty obviously pleased with himself. Nill might be unhappy with him for a little bit, but hopefully she won't hold it against him too harshly. Anyway, it makes his heart flutter again just to think of it. Which gets another dirty look from the nurse, but it's hard to care at the moment. His good mood will be difficult to shake. Gut full of heavy charcoal and all, he's on cloud nine at the moment.]

The nurse's thoughts just prove to make it even worse, because oh god, kids. She doesn't like that implication at all. Still, she nods to nurse Mercy, too lost for words to even try something with the NV.]
...Are you sure?
[Though reluctantly, she lets him take her hand, giving his a gentle squeeze. She's still a little lost for words, so she doesn't bother with anything else. She knows that, technically, she could probably trick his brain into not really feeling any of the pain, but that was dangerous. He wouldn't feel it if he was about to puke or if something was getting worse. It was better to leave it at a certain level of discomfort.]

[He's not exactly known for being great at empathy, but when it comes to Nill he usually pays a bit more attention than with most people. He'd already been dancing gleefully around the edges of her boundaries before the nurse came in and made that vague but obvious remark.
And going from a first confession to playing husband and wife in just a few minutes might not sit well with her either. Maybe it was a bad idea. He just really hasn't wanted her to leave him yet, and not only because of the relief she was giving him.
Still, she was tense now. She'd been starting to relax a bit before, maybe even enjoying herself with that bit of non-threatening kissing and cuddling. To let it all dissipate like so much smoke into the surrounding air would be a genuine shame.
And this was the best day of his life. Chocolate coated misery and all, it was still perfect thanks to this moment. No way was he going to let a nosy nurse ruin that for them. He had one more idea...]
You want her to leave?
no subject
[Mad isn't exactly the right word. Uncomfortable, maybe. It doesn't sit well with her at all. While Nill doesn't entirely understand the idea of marriage, it doesn't sound bad. It's just all the other implications that go with it. The most she knows about marriage is 'til death do us part, and that's... should Yosuke really put that much on her? They didn't really live in the type of world where that was practical, and they certainly didn't live in the sort of world where having kids was even... but what if he wanted them?
Nill had never really thought about things like that before, and suddenly she can't stop thinking about them. She should have thought about them an hour ago, maybe, but it just hadn't crossed her mind.
Nill glances at Yosuke, and then at the nurse, before nodding her head just the slightest bit. She really didn't want this nurse just hovering around and watching them as if they were going to do something obscene.]
no subject
[What that was in response to isn't clear. Maybe to both things. But Yosuke makes good on his promise to get the nurse to leave. He grabs his stomach and doubles over.]
Nurse? I need the bed pan. Uuugh. Hurry please.
[It's definitely not what the nurse was hoping to hear, but it'll keep the kids from doing anything too energetic at least. She fetches the bed pan and moves to help the patient, though he's not having any of that. He snatches it away and shoos her.]
No, no! I've got it. I don't want you to see. It's going to take a while. I'll ring when I'm ready, alright?
[Great. There's something to look forward to later. But from a medical standpoint, the less time any of that had to absorb into the kid's intestines, the better. The nurse sighed a bit in her head, but outwardly she forced a smile. "Try not to spill it." She suggested, and left.
Yosuke wrinkled his nose after her a bit and set the bedpan aside with general disinterest, and gives Nill a slightly sheepish look.]
Sorry. It's the easiest way to make them leave a room.
no subject
It's okay. I don't mind.
[What a way to do things, though... Nill is pretty sure he's been here enough times that he's turned that into an art.]
no subject
So he lays down very slowly, and curls up. He's pretty sure Nill isn't going to climb back into his arms again anytime soon after that, but somehow just having her in the room fills his bones with warmth and puts his mind at ease.
Yosuke does a bit of curling and uncurling again, though this time it's not as frantic. The cramps are milder, way more tolerable. Somehow during that scene Nill must have held her concentration anyway. He smiles at her gratefully.]
Don't be mad if I fall asleep, okay? My body feels a little beat up right now.
[He reaches up, though -can't resist- and gently kneads a few feathers in his hand. There's something about those wings that's like a security blanket to him. Touching feathers is less intrusive than a tight, clinging hug, but it feels the same. Soothing, reassuring. The essence of Nill. His eyes start to droop at the familiar, safe feeling.]
Thanks for being here.
no subject
I don't mind. You should get some rest.
[Her wings flex a little under his fingers, and after a brief pause Nill lifts a hand and lightly touches Yosuke's arm.]
I'll come whenever you want me to be here. You know that.
Now, get some rest. I'll make sure you stay comfortable.
[And get some restful sleep, mostly free of dreams. Free of the bad ones, anyway.]

He doesn't open his eyes when Nill touches his arm, but they shift under their lids. The gesture is unexpected. If he weren't so relaxed, and alone in a room with Nill, he would have jumped. As it is, he offers her a bit of a smile instead. It's nice. The touch, and the words that go with it. They're both nice.
He wants to stay awake and talk to her, but it's difficult. His body feels so heavy...]

When the nurse decides to look in on them, she rolls her eyes. But secretly, she's a little relieved she doesn't have to deal with what she expected to find there.]

Nill will stay there the whole night, though. At some point she'll sneak up to the roof to meet Dave for some coffee, because holy shit round the clock pain management is tiring, but she'll be careful to either stop time when that happens, or to keep it up from a distance. Yosuke won't be in any pain or have any bad dreams the whole night through.]
