[Today she's seated on her bed, her favorite spot for the more casual, cheerful messages to the network. As such, there's a smile on her face as she begins to speak.]

Hi! Um, I just wanted to say something really quick. My sixteenth birthday is in a few weeks, and I think I'm going to have a small party for it.

[She still doesn't think it's such a big deal, but she's fairly certain someone who's been here a while would have remembered and insisted she have a party anyways. That's what happened last year, at least!]

It won't be anything extravagant at all, and nobody has to get anything for me even if they decide to come. But everyone I know is welcome! It's on the afternoon of the 24th, but I know a lot of people are busy, so I thought it'd be good to mention it in advance. Oh, and of course it's okay if anybody can't make it! That's all I really had to say.

[She immediately moves to the edge of her bed that's pressed against the wall, pushing her back against it, her hands flying to her mouth in shock.]

Qua— oh my God, why do you keep doing stuff like this?

[ He's heard her make this particular sort of squeak before, but had never really thought about it as anything more than a girlish affectation.

However... ]

What was that?

[ He stays where he is, on the floor, grinning up at her. ]

You don't get to ask me anything right now, I have more important questions for you! Like, what were you doing under my bed, you creep? Get out!

That noise you made. It sounded just like... a goose, or something.

I told you I'm not talking about that! Get out of my room or I'll call Dad!

[ FWOOM! Back under the bed. ]

[She jumps off the bed with a sigh, squatting down so she can peer underneath.]

Why do you always do stuff like this? You're so weird!

D'you want to know who's weird?

[ His voice is coming from behind her. He's perched on top of her bureau, with his legs crossed. ]

[She just stares, her eyes widening in shock before she speaks.]

W-Who?

Your uncle!

[She pauses, stiffening slightly.]

What about him?

He is obsessed with his brother, as you are perhaps aware.

With obsession comes jealousy. Do you follow me, Ahiru?

I don't like him at all either... But Gilbert really does care about him.

[ A twitch at the corners of his mouth; a grim little smile. ]

Right.

[ He hops down from the bureau, lightly. ]

Be careful. Especially now that...

[She looks towards the ground, thoughtful.]

Is there anything I should be doing?

Never be alone with him. Bolt your door at night.

[ His tone has been deadly serious; now it lightens, a bit self-consciously. ]

But - you've got good instincts. You don't like him. Because he relies on his charm to lure people in, you've got the advantage.

If he was determined enough, he could get through a lock easily enough, couldn't he?

[A sigh.]

He's creepy.

[ A little silence. ]

Have you any means of defending yourself?

I'm not keeping any weapons, if that's what you mean.

Any powers that might be useful?

[Normally she would lie, but something about the situation feels like it demands honesty.]

I think they could help. It depends.

But, I mean - if he was going to do anything, wouldn't he have done it right after he moved in? Why wait?

He likes to play his games.

[ Break's voice has been deadly calm thus far; but he isn't actually all that good at keeping his temper under wraps. ]

--that sewer rat!

[That's the first time she's heard him get angry, and it's startling enough.]

Did he do something to you?

--he's done enough.

[Silence for a minute.]
