Hello. Fellow newcomers? I'm in need of some practical advice-

[A breath. This is less the tone of a confident doctor, and more like a young man teetering on the brink of anxiety, but holding his voice together at a steady calm.]

What are the appropriate channels, besides calling it in to law enforcement, to best go about securing yourself from identity theft? I've...never had to recover from losing anything like this before, and I'm uncertain what steps I should take from here-

I seem to have somehow misplaced something very important: Photo IDs, keys, my debit, a portable storage drive, and a panicalarm device which- its GPS is apparently disabled. (So much for that being anything of use)

I've been retracing my steps for almost two hours now, and I just can't figure out quite how, or when- [Uncertainty clouds his tone for a moment, as he mutters mostly to himself](It's odd I could even get so far without realizing it was missing- my lanyard is something I feel rather... naked without.)

So If anyone's had any experience dealing with this before, in the contemporary system- I'm at an honest loss here, asking the network. Normally it's something entourage simply wouldn't allow to happen, but.... What would you do?

And how would you go about even beginning to locate something potentially stolen, in a city this large and under poor surveillance, which can't easily be replaced?

If it fell off somehow in a subway car, or in the station, do you think the department of transport would really look for it in earnest?

...I've lost it somewhere between the clinic and... here, a cafe in sector 6.

If you made it worth their while -- and attracting their attention with such an offer might attract attention you do not want. Do you remember on which train car you rode?

No, I wasn't really paying attention to that. Toward the front. It was crowded. I think it was the 3:45.

[Daedalus is tucked into a corner table at the cafe, NV out, securing several messages. He seems weary with frustration, and his tea is empty, but he never carries too much cash on him, so this is really somewhat problematic.

He cradles his chin in one hand, stylus curled in the other, and taps impatiently at the hologram tablet, waiting for confirmations.]

[Soon enough he's joined by the tall form of the General, two cups in hand as he folds himself into a seat opposite Daedalus. One is slid across the tabletop to the doctor and the other kept for himself -- as is the explanation of having asked after the doctor's order at the counter, not wanting to interrupt Daedalus' work until he pauses in it.]

[A shadow falls over the table, he glances up briefly, flashing a small smile before hurrying to close up some transaction requests.

...He's relieved not to have too many active lines of credit running, to notify. Right now there are other things which are typing his stomach in knots.

So for that he's extremely grateful to curl a new tea mug into his hand, setting the message alert signal to a low chime before turning full attentions to Sephiroth]

It's like losing a piece of yourself, I'd swear-

It'll be recovered.

[A small smile is offered, hopefully to soothe some of the doctor's worry about his lost identifications and other personal items. It's a concern yes, but they are ultimately just things, items that can be replaced as needed.]

Remember, Doctor, material things can be replaced. I think too often we forget that, myself included.
