[The device clicks on and the feed is a little shaky for a moment as uncertain hands mess with it. Finally Teito's face fills the screen.]

Ah..Good evening. Sorry to disturb everyone but I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I'm new here..but apparently I've been here before. My name is Teito Klein. I guess some of you probably knew me from before so I apologize in advance for not remembering you.

[Teito looks a little uncertain for a moment and turns his face away as he tries to think of what to say. Finally after a couple seconds he looks back at the screen again.]

Does that happen often? I mean..leaving and coming back without your memories. I've had trouble with my memory before so I was just curious if it is only me that doesn't remember being here. I've heard that people can come back with their memories of this place..so I'm just wondering about why I didn't.

I hope I didn't forget too many important things..[Teito looks genuinely concerned about that. He'd hate to think someone would be upset because he forgot something. It's not like he meant to but..that's beside the point.]

Anyway..thank you for your time.

As long as you've got someone to treasure your memories... they're never really lost, you know? I'm sure he'll tell you about them, if you ask.

My...um, my sister Xion? She went away for awhile, and didn't remember when she came back again. But that's okay. She just.. got to know me all over again.

[He puffs up a little in embarrassment at being missed.]

You know Frau? I hope he hasn't caused any trouble..

I'd never thought about memories that way..but I guess that is true. Getting to know you again..was that hard? Or did you enjoy starting over?

Yeah. We're friends, sort of? What kind of trouble? I've never seen him make any trouble.

It was sad at first, but now we're okay, and probably closer than ever.

I see. [Teito goes quiet for a moment as he thinks about that.] When she came back, were you two from the same time? I'm apparently from a point in Frau's future..and its kind of odd knowing things that he doesn't.

Oh, that happens a lot around here. People from different times.

Yeah, everybody's from like a year ahead of me, at least. Sora, Riku, Roxas... Xion. Everybody.

Does that make it difficult? Did they tell you about the things you missed or is it better not to know?

I would have missed them anyway.

They told me. Some of it's lousy news, but it's already happened, so... there's no do-overs. At least Namine is safe, and I guess she's...happy?

I see..It's too bad we don't remember the things here when we go back. Maybe then you could change the choices you made.

Does that sound ok? Do you like chinese, or something more like a bunch of breakfast food, or fried chicken or something?

[Teito gets a rather confused look on his face which can't be seen through the voice communication but might be heard.]

What is..chinese? Fried chicken? [You're talking to a kid that pretty much survived off pills for a good portion of his growing years and one that is used to eating Eye Fish Stew while at the church.]

I'm not sure what the food is like here but I don't mind going out for some at some point.

Chinese is...um... there's rice with stuff in it, and sauces that are sour and sweet, and spicy beef and broccoli, and crispy noodles, and eggrolls?

[Yeah, he's a connoisseur of world cuisine, clearly.]

Oh, and fortune cookies! They have a paper in the middle that gives you lucky numbers and advice.

A cookie that gives you advice? Why would you need advice from a cookie? Are they smart? Should you really eat a smart cookie?

[Teito is only growing more confused by this chinese food..but perhaps a bit curious.]

No, I think... chinese wise men bake them in or something.

HEY, I KNOW THE FEELING MAN AND I CAN TELL YOU FROM EXPERIENCE THINKING OF IT AS SOMETHING *YOU* FORGOT ISN'T THE WAY TO GO.
THERE'S AN INFINITE NUMBER OF TIMELINES OUT THERE AND THE YOU THAT WAS HERE BEFORE MIGHT NOT BE THE SAME AS THE YOU THAT'S HERE NOW.
HE COULD HAVE BEEN FROM A DIFFERENT POINT IN YOUR TIMELINE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, SO DON'T WORRY TOO MUCH ABOUT IT.
THERE'S REALLY JACK SHIT THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT AND BLAMING YOURSELF AND APOLOGIZING FOR SOMETHING YOU CAN'T CONTROL IS JUST A WASTE OF TIME.

A different timeline? I hadn't thought about it that way..I guess that is possible. About as possible as coming to a different world is.

I see..I guess I won't worry too much about the memories. Unless there is a chance they might come back someday.

I can't recall any cases where they have. Not worrying about it is likely best.

Oh..I'm used to my memories coming back slowly so I guess I was hoping this might be one of those times.

There would have been comparitively little for you to have lost from here, I'd imagine. It was a matter of a few months here, at most.

Why it keeps anyone here, no one can say. I was sent back once, but otherwise have been here nearly two years.

Two years..[Wow that's a long time. Teito frowns at the mere thought of that.] So you remembered this place when you got back?

[Not so long when you're a shinigami. Who is almost seventy even though he looks more like he's twelve.] I did.

This place is strange. [and damn if he didn't want to understand how it decided who to keep, who to get rid of, who to bring back...and if they should remember it.]

I hope I can get used to it though. I guess I need to find someplace to work as well..
