How often do people who vanish come back?

Statistically speaking, how long does it usually take before you can pretty much accept that they aren't coming back?

By putting yourself in needless danger? You just roam around the city, risking life and limb and hoping you can just happen to run across someone screaming for help in a gigantic city, then hope that if you DO find someone, that you can actually get to them and save them in time?

It's not the same thing at all. At least on the baseball field you're staying in one place. You have one job. You can't possibly find everyone who needs help just wandering through the city.

It's not hoodoo, it's white magic, and the worst a protection amulet can do is just not work. You go out without anything to protect you anyway, so what difference should it make?
