[ When the NV turns on, Ella isn't really paying attention to it - though her intention might have been to use it, that thought is derailed by the chatter of several others nearby. ]
No - no no, I don't need - Excuse, me could you please stop pushing baskets at me, I don't want your brochures. Really, I appreciate it but - [ They are totally not listening. ]
No, thank you that's kind of you but could you just ... take... these -- but I - [ Yea, Ella, keep trying to talk over the company representatives. With a clatter, she drops the NV, and it now shows a crooked image of Ella with her arms full of baskets from AGI and SERO both, looking a bit lost, frustrated, and confused. Yet she perseveres! ]
I'm just trying to say - this is really too much so - oh! [ Aaand the bundle of baskets in her arms abruptly topple over when she loses her grip, tumbling onto the floor, papers scattering everywhere. Those representatives? Totally off to harass another newcomer. Help her? That's silly. ]
Could you h- oh, no, of course not, yeah, no walk away, that's just great... thanks. No, thank you,I've got it, not that you were lifting a finger to help or anything...
[ Sighing, Ella kneels to gather up what was foisted into her arms, though she catches sight of the NV recording. ]
... Is it always this...chaotic?
[ Maybe she can give this stuff to someone else. What she really needed was warmer clothing. ]

[Forces a more neutral expression back on his face. See, he's totally not pissed off. Really!] It happens this way sometimes. People get drawn here, sent back home, and sometimes they return. Some remember it here, and some don't. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to it.
I could show you some proof, if you're willing to give it its fair weight. [And he knows she will. Because she's Ella.]
Video
... huh. That's pretty inconvenient - not that there's really anything about this that could be convenient. Worst possible timing, really.
Proof? Yeah, show me - please. I want to see this.
Video
[The proof takes a few minutes, as he wants to ensure that the publicly available parts don't have any commands in them. When he finds a couple of decent examples, he sends them to her privately.]
These are some of the NV recordings you've made during your previous time here.
Video
[ She's silent for a few minutes, going over the recordings thoughtfully, taking note of the dates and the people in them. That's definitely her, yes. ]
.... okay, I'd say that ... was irrefutable proof right there. How long was I gone...?
Video
About two months. [And he never moped. Nope, not him!]
Video
Two months... [ She exhales a bit. To think she was spirited away to another place for any amount of time by any magic - and NOT to remember it... well if someone told her to forget, that might be why. Or it could be the nature of magic. ]
So we knew each other before. What's your name?
Video
We were good friends. [Which is why he totally wasn't moping while you were gone. Captains don't mope.] Hitsugaya Toushirou.
Video
We were? [ She grins. ]
Then I'm glad to have the chance to be again, Hitsugaya. I feel pretty lucky that you were one of the first that I er...re-met here.
Video
[There are a lot of things a normal friend would say. That he's glad to see her again. That he's missed her. But he's not a normal friend and those are feelings. Something he's not good at.] I just try to help where I can.
[He'd like to be able to tell her that he's aware of her curse, that he has no desire to take advantage of it, that he's sworn to tell no one else and will hold to that promise. But it seems far too early for that. And he certainly wouldn't do so over the network, not even privately.]
Video
But you didn't have to. Although if we were good friends, I suppose it makes more sense for you to have.
Is there anything else I should know about this place? Raphael already warned me about the companies, here. And the darkness monsters.
Video
... I'd advise being careful of the newsfeeds that come across the NV. It's rather annoying how they tell you to do things. [Okay, he's hinting at some knowledge, here. Yes, it's deliberate. But no way is he saying it straight out. Because that's dumb for multiple reasons. At the same time, he really does want her to know that he's mindful of her curse.]
Video
Ah... [ Recovery get! She shakes her head a bit with a quick smile. ]
Y-yeah, I - thanks, I'll... keep that in mind. [ Among other things, the most prominent being wondering if he knew. How long did they know each other anyway? ]
I appreciate the warning, Hitsugaya.
Video
[Were getting close to have known each other for two years, knowing about the curse for around half that.]
There also tend to be Core fluctuations that make strange things happen, but those aren't necessarily avoidable. I don't suppose anyone has mentioned to you that most who get drawn to gain an ability of some sort?
[But the ads are the more immediate danger to her. So that's why they got special mention over these things. Totally knows things, this guy.]
Video
And that Core - that's what pulled everyone here, right? [ Restlessly tapping her fingers against her arm, thinking thinky thoughts, before her gaze lifts to peer at Toushirou again with a slow shake of her head. ]
No, they didn't get to that part. ... Is there any way of telling what ... ability you're given? [ Unless it's magic to counteract the curse, she isn't particularly interested - but more importantly, those newsfeeds. The last thing she needed to do is accidentally see one and waste her money on something, or worse. ]
Video
[He'll have to shake his head at that.] They don't always manifest right away. I never knew what yours was. [Yeah. Knows the curse. Doesn't know the power.] Many of us had abilities before we were ever drawn here.
Video
So, did you have an ability before you came here?
Video
A few. [Oh, right. He's going to have to explain this all again.]
Video
Can I ask what yours are, or is that something you'd rather not discuss?
Video
[Upturned palm, ball of ice crackling into existence in it. He could do something more refined with it, but that would be overkill.] This is the most obvious of them.
Video
Ice magic! [ Don't say cool, don't say cool, that's a godawful unintentional pun, woman don't you DARE say cool. ]
I don't think I've ever met anyone who could manipulate the elements like that. [ Actually, it was 'illegal' for the elves back home to do anything but sing and dance. :/ ]
Video
In addition to that, I'm not what you may think I am. [He doesn't know exactly what she thinks he is, whether it's a human kid or something else or whatever, but she'd had no knowledge of shinigami before, so it's a safe bet she wouldn't consider that an option here.]
Video
So - what...exactly are you then?
Video
Shinigami. Literally translated as "Death God." A protector of the souls of the dead.
