Um, I'm not a doctor, but you should talk to Dr. Yumeno. He really tries to help out Newcomers.

I'm in my third trimester. Two more months to go. [ She adjusts herself in her seat, tightening her scarf around her neck. ]

That's pretty young to be on your own. [ She was expecting something closer to twelve, to be honest. Or maybe she was just so used to seeing celebrities age up so quickly in their teens. ]

[ She's feeling rather... maternal today. ]

I'm not on my own! I have Dad, so it's okay.

If so, I can recommend a few of my colleagues at Skye Medical Center. The ones that wouldn't discriminate.

Otherwise, the newcomer free clinic is open for walk-ins, I can tell you what days Tenma, McCoy or I am on, and you can arrange for your, ah... interview appointments from there?

An obstetrician for now. I don't want to even think of the health care costs here. [ Even though it is Canada, the people here generally hate people like her -- at least, when she fails to bring up the documentation that natives have -- and she wouldn't be surprised if the prices raised for a good HMO. ]

I'd appreciate a list that I could contact on my own.

As for the free clinic... there is likely a long waiting period, yes? I think, in the long run, it'd be better to pay a little extra to be able to not have to wait in a lobby while I'm in labor.

Newcomers have certain provisions- the clinic is what we've been using as a supplement for general health care, for precisely those reasons, but the hospital still covers the services we can't provide. I make sure you're taken care of well. I've reported to supervisors, where newcomer patients have faced discrimination- and that doesn't fly with Dr. Pyke.

I certainly wouldn't advise anything but Skye Medical Center for delivery. It's the best program in the city.

I'm not really an obstetrician, but I work at both Siren's Port General Hospital, and I'm also one of the doctors on call at the Newcomer Clinic. Usually, for pre-natal care, the best place to go is Skye Medical Center.

But I guess... well, I'd offer my services, if you'd like! It's not my specialty, like I said, but I've helped out with plenty of them, and if you end up needed a Cesarean, then I'm your guy! [He's trying to be lighthearted about this one, but it's a little tough. But he tried!]

Oh! And my name is Doctor Kenzo Tenma. I should have said that first, shouldn't I? [Sheepish laugh.]

Thank you, Dr. Tenma. [ She gives him a small smile, somewhat strained. It wasn't him; it was her headaches that crept up every so often. ]

How many births have you been involved with as a doctor? Counting your time back home, too, I guess.

Ah! Well, my main focus was neurosurgery, though more people need regular surgery... [He's rambling, don't worry, he's got this!]

Both here and back home.... about twenty in this city, and then I worked at Eisler Memorial, back home, and I assisted with ten, but I delivered ten on my own!

[While Skylar is sitting there, she might notice a dirty, clearly homeless man with red hair, wearing fingerless gloves and a ratty scarf, holding up a handmade sign. It's wooden, both the sign and the stick holding it up.

The sign says "The End is Nigh". He certainly seems to believe it, enough that he's walking around in the cold with it. He was just walking past, when he saw her, pregnant and smoking. Stopping where he is, he slowly turns to her, and then points at her.]

[ She rolls her eyes, lowering the cigarette over her empty cup that was now serving as an ashtray. ]

Shit you're putting that baby through. [He continues to point, lowering his finger a little so it's not just at her, but also at her baby.]

Legal abortion. Not fit to be a mother if you screw up a kid.

Do you need healing? [Yes, this is a 13 year old girl offering you help. Don't knock it, she's actually quite good.]
