Game 001 - Video

[Have a pale, slightly sick-looking teenage boy with bright red hair, staring with confusion at the camera. It looks like he's hiding not far from the baseball field, tucked into an alley. He seems to be fiddling with the device in his hands, mostly unfamiliar with the technology... though thankfully he seems to have a knack for it, so it only takes a few seconds for him to figure out what's going on.

He looks around, then sighs. Then he speaks into the camera uneasily.]

Okay... I give up.

[A pause.]

Uncle. You got me. Very funny...

[Almost as though he's waiting for something. Then he frowns, increasingly unpleasantly. There is a rumble in his throat, and he clears it loudly.]

Look, I'm not stupid. This isn't Antarctica. You brought me here, and I know you assholes have something else up your sleeves. Another level of your stupid-ass game.

I'm ready. So just cut the crap and tell me what it is, okay?

Zombies? Monsters? Giant goddamn plants? Your freaky mutant dad?

[That one especially makes him scowl, and now he's openly yelling.]

Come on, cowards! I'm gonna get you just like your brother, Ashford, you stupid bitch! You hear me?!

When I find you, if you hurt her, I'm gonna put you back to sleep! Only this time, you're not gonna wake up again, you goddamn freak!

[He breaks up coughing, a pathetic sound, covering his mouth with his arm as he staggers. Then he wobbles back to his feet and glares at the camera, motioning his hand in a gesture of challenge.]

You want me? Come get me! I'm ready for you this time!

[Aaaand click. What a pleasant young man!]

Some of it you're better off not believing, I guess. But it's not all lies.

The best way to do that ends with us both dying, but you'll know some of it is true as soon as night hits. Do yourself a favor and be indoors then, even if you don't want to believe it until you see it. Alright?

Steve's eyes go a little distant for a moment, almost as though that means something to him. He shakes it off quickly though.]

So you're not kidding about the monsters, are you?

It's not very funny, is it?

...Anyway, no. Sorry to break it to you, but it's the truth. So try to be careful.

I'm not afraid of some stupid monsters. [He says. He lifts up one of his Lugers as though to prove it.]

Where the hell am I supposed to go? Those apartments?

[That gets a vaguely surprised glance, but it passes quickly enough. Okay, yeah, around here that's not even weird.]

Yeah. The first month is free. They'll kick you out after that though, so it's best to plan ahead.

Month?

[It's... starting to sink in.]

You're serious, aren't you?

Uh. Yeah. It's tough to take in at first, but it's important not to take it too lightly. The towers are easy to find, but if you have any other questions or you need someone to show you, I don't mind.

Well. I've had worse. [A massive eyeroll.]

And thanks. But I can figure it out myself... [Said just a bit irritably. Clearly, this guy is a bucket of sunshine and rainbows.]

[Yosuke's had worse, himself. As a greeter, you get used to constant shit from people. This kid doesn't even phase him, he just nods. Okay, cool. His work here is done.]

Yeah, they should be visible from where you are.

[He licks his lips and looks a little nervous about asking the question he obviously is holding in.]

So you greet people who show up here- do you-

Have you seen a girl named Claire?

[Yosuke sucks a breath in at that. Boy has he ever seen a girl named Claire, but she's gone now, and it might not even be the right one. So, he shrugs.]

I don't see everyone, but as far as I know...right now, there isn't a girl with that name here. If she's new here and she knows you she'll see this, though. They always do.

[He huffs.]

Most people get someone they know here eventually. Which is pretty weird if you think about it so I've been most trying not to.

But she was with me when- before I got here.

Uggh, this doesn't make any damn sense!

I've been here for a year and it still doesn't make sense. There's not much you can do about that I guess.

Is that supposed to be trying to make me feel better?

Uh...no. It's just how things are. There's not really an upside to this situation, to tell you the truth.

Yeah. Starting to pick up on that.

The best thing to do is try not to die and wait it out I guess. People get sent away eventually.

[He sighs tremendously, muttering under his breath.]

Great. Like that'll be any better for me.
