My name is John Baum.

[While he’s recently discovered to have found himself in Canada, in a town that doesn’t seem to exist, John is still reluctant to give his last name. He doesn’t know if his enemies are here and isn’t going to risk the chance. So for now, everyone will know him as Baum and not Connor.]

I’m sort of new to Siren’s Port. [He didn’t come here by choice, doesn’t want to be here, but he might as well learn more about this town.] I received the newcomer letter, but I have a feeling there’s still a lot it’s not telling me.

If anyone here is willing to give me a bit more information, especially those Darkness monsters, it would really help me out a lot.

It’s John.

Siren’s Port, Canada. I’ve never heard of it before, but it’s where I am. I’m alive, unhurt, and unsure of how I got here. I’m alone, no Terminators as far as I can tell, but everyone claims there are monsters that come out only at night. I haven’t seen them myself, but something about this place tells me they’re telling the truth.

Communication is a little strange here, and a part of me knows that this message won't reach you, but it's worth a shot to send it out. [Translation: Come find me and get me out of here now.]

Yeah, glad to be here. [There's sarcasm in his voice.]

No, I kind of figured it wouldn't be.

It's a good thing to hear when you're already kind of a freak, but not so great if you're just a human not used to having to avoid getting eaten.

You should talk to Tim, though. He's sort of a guru for helping teens adapt to this place.

Human here, and, well, I wouldn't say I've had to avoid being eaten, but I've avoided a lot of things back where I came from.

But I believe I have been talking with Tim. He has been helpful.

[Trying not to sound like a teenage girl with a crush right now, re: Tim. Hahahaha.] Yeah, he's pretty good at that. He helped me a lot.

[Normality? Nope, not for you John.] I was kind of hoping that wouldn't be the case.

[He does notice a slight change of tone in her voice, but doesn't bring it up.] Guess he's been here a pretty long time huh?

It can actually be pretty normal sometimes, though.

[She laughs.] Long enough, anyway. Longer than me. He's seen some serious crap both here and wherever he came from, so he's just worldly all around.
