[Layla's been careful to wait until the disorientation has worn off before making a post on her NV. The Greeter has explained some of the basics, and while it's all a little hard to swallow, she's aware that she's not being lied to.

When she turns on her NV, the network gets to see a teenage girl with red eyes, dark hair, and an odd skull hairpin that's matching her facial expressions, if one is watching closely enough. Another detail the more observant denizens might pick up on is her long incisor teeth, but only if they look carefully. She's not showing her fangs off.]

Hello, Siren's Port. My name is Layla Delacroix. I'm not from around here and I've got a few questions for you. First things first: have any of you seen my little sister, Nina? She's got green eyes, purple and black hair, she's tiny, friendly, and she loves chocolate. She'll probably be totally freaking out, so if you find her, give her some chocolate and let her know that Layla's going to come and find her, all right? Also, if anyone's seen people named Tiffany Winters, Diodore Renoir, or Kade Whiteclaw, let me know.

[Even with just the limited information she's managed to learn so far, Layla really doesn't like the idea of her innocent little sister running around here unattended.]

Second: I need blood. I'm ah...severely anemic. I also get very bad sunburns, so it would be better if we met after dark. Help a girl out? I can't exactly go and get a job if I'm too out of it to work.

[No one will figure out that she's a vampire, right? Of course not.]

Third: Cute clothes. Anyone know where I can find some in this city? As nice as my dress is, wearing it every single day is all kinds of tacky.

[She makes a face. Whether it's the idea of wearing the same thing every day or her next question that she finds distasteful is anyone's guess.]

Oh. And my fourth and last question - is anyone hiring for later shifts? I'm kind of a night person.

It's...pretty bad. As in, liberal applications of SPF 85 and covering up anywhere I'm not wearing the sunblock, bad.

[Stupid sunlight! She wouldn't let it defeat her. She was Layla Delacroix, darn it.]

[Half an hour later Seras walks into the lobby, a shut black umbrella under one arm and a bag over her shoulder. It's got a bloodpack in it, Seras is reasonably confident about Layla's 'anemia', and if wrong she'll know when she she meets her.]

[Layla greets Seras with a wave. She's standing off to the side in an area of the lobby where the sunlight isn't coming in directly.]

Seras! Over here!

[Seras turns her head and smiles, waving at Layla.] Miss Delacruix, there you are. How are you feeling?

[And she knows, her senses, this girl isn't human.]

A little weirded out by all the...stuff with the Core. I'd almost think it was a stupid prank courtesy of that harpy Melissa Hellrune, but she definitely doesn't have this kind of power.

I don't blame you, everyone is at first. But if you're here long enough you get used to it. [She says chipperly enough.] You have things like that a lot at home, people with powers?

[Layla's eyebrows raise as she realizes her mistake. The little skull hairpin's eyebrows do the same. She's about to backpedal when she remembers hearing that most people in the Port have some sort of power, no matter how minor. Also, she's fairly certain Seras is a fellow vampire. She certainly doesn't smell human.]

Oh...ah. Yes. I go to a high school for people with special abilities. The special abilities part isn't public, though. All of the people I was asking about except for Tiffany go to school there, too.

A school? [That's interesting.] I took an educated guess about you from the network, I didn't want to call you out there though. I know when you're used to hiding that stuff it can be hard to suddenly up and be public about it.

I guess you figured out that I'm a vampire?

[She'd been called out more than once on the network while waiting for Seras to arrive.]

Yes. [Seras smiles at her.] There were a few signs, and I knew as soon as I saw you in person. [She opens up the satchel she's carrying and pulls out the blood pack from where it was nestled between bags of ice to keep it cool.] Here, I brought this for you.

Eee!

[Layla lets out a little delighted noise upon seeing the blood. Oh, good. She won't have to brave the Darkness monsters tonight to get a meal.]

Thank you, Seras.

[Layla takes the blood pack appreciatively.]

You're being super nice to me. I'm going to return the favour once I get settled in.

[Seras smiles happily at the girls reaction.] Oh no, it's perfectly fine, I'm happy to help any nice vampires that come along. Certainly couldn't let you go hungry.

A Delacroix pays her debts, Seras. I insist. Just wait until I get a job, and then I'll give you the best makeover ever. You won't be disappointed with the results, I promise.

A makeover...? [Blink. Er...] W-well, let's see how you get on. Haha.

So your whole family are vampires?

It'll be fun! I enjoy helping people look their best.

...and yes. I've heard that a lot of vampires are made rather than born, but there are a few vampire families that can have children naturally. Mine is one of them.

Well if you're sure. [She scratches the back of her head with a bracing smile.]

Wow, I don't think that's possible at all where I come from. Everybody gets turned.

We age like humans throughout childhood, then our aging slows down a lot in the late teens, and eventually stops all together when our bodies are what would pass for late twenties to early thirties for a human, approximately.

How curious. Sounds a lot nicer, actually.

What's it like being turned?

[Although it's not something she'd ever want to force on anyone, she is a little curious as to what the experience is like.]

It... [Seras thinks back, thinks back to the pain of having half her chest blown out by Alucard's bullet, the red of the moon in the sky and him looming over her as she frantically thought how much she didn't want to die...] It was scary, dying. Then when I woke it was like the whole thing had been a dream. But reality hit pretty quick.
