[Layla's been careful to wait until the disorientation has worn off before making a post on her NV. The Greeter has explained some of the basics, and while it's all a little hard to swallow, she's aware that she's not being lied to.

When she turns on her NV, the network gets to see a teenage girl with red eyes, dark hair, and an odd skull hairpin that's matching her facial expressions, if one is watching closely enough. Another detail the more observant denizens might pick up on is her long incisor teeth, but only if they look carefully. She's not showing her fangs off.]

Hello, Siren's Port. My name is Layla Delacroix. I'm not from around here and I've got a few questions for you. First things first: have any of you seen my little sister, Nina? She's got green eyes, purple and black hair, she's tiny, friendly, and she loves chocolate. She'll probably be totally freaking out, so if you find her, give her some chocolate and let her know that Layla's going to come and find her, all right? Also, if anyone's seen people named Tiffany Winters, Diodore Renoir, or Kade Whiteclaw, let me know.

[Even with just the limited information she's managed to learn so far, Layla really doesn't like the idea of her innocent little sister running around here unattended.]

Second: I need blood. I'm ah...severely anemic. I also get very bad sunburns, so it would be better if we met after dark. Help a girl out? I can't exactly go and get a job if I'm too out of it to work.

[No one will figure out that she's a vampire, right? Of course not.]

Third: Cute clothes. Anyone know where I can find some in this city? As nice as my dress is, wearing it every single day is all kinds of tacky.

[She makes a face. Whether it's the idea of wearing the same thing every day or her next question that she finds distasteful is anyone's guess.]

Oh. And my fourth and last question - is anyone hiring for later shifts? I'm kind of a night person.

We age like humans throughout childhood, then our aging slows down a lot in the late teens, and eventually stops all together when our bodies are what would pass for late twenties to early thirties for a human, approximately.

How curious. Sounds a lot nicer, actually.

What's it like being turned?

[Although it's not something she'd ever want to force on anyone, she is a little curious as to what the experience is like.]

It... [Seras thinks back, thinks back to the pain of having half her chest blown out by Alucard's bullet, the red of the moon in the sky and him looming over her as she frantically thought how much she didn't want to die...] It was scary, dying. Then when I woke it was like the whole thing had been a dream. But reality hit pretty quick.

That sounds pretty awful. I'm glad that I was born rather than turned. Was it hard to adjust to?

Ooo yes, very. [Here's a more comfortable subject.] It took me forever to accept drinking blood.

[It's difficult for Layla to imagine not being able to accept drinking blood, but she supposes if one had previously been human, it might seem unappetizing.]

How long did it take before you were okay with it?

Some months. Then necessity struck.

I'm amazed you managed to hold out that long without being blood-starved.

[She doesn't feel that great if she goes for more than a day without any blood.]

Should've heard my Master berate me about it. [She gives an embarassed little shrug.] Oh speaking of, you should drink that soon. [Seras points at the blood bag.] And I can give you my address if you need more.

Well, vampires do need blood to be healthy and strong.

[Layla actually does have an address book in her purse, so she pulls it out along with a pen and offers both to Seras.

In the meantime, she takes a swig from the blood bag.]

[Seras writes down the address of the manor and her mobile number.] I work as a police officer, but if I'm ever not available and you need help just explain yourself to whoever's in. They'll understand.

Thank you. And really? A police officer?

[Well, Seras, you are the first vampire she's ever met in law enforcement. It's a good indicator of how accepted vampires are in society, really.]

Oh yes! they don't mind non-humans being in the force here. It was quite refreshing! I was a police officer when I was a human, you see.

How young were you when you joined the force?

[It's hard to judge ages with vampires, but it's easier with humans. Seras couldn't have been on the force for long before she was turned.]

Twenty. I got turned a few months after. I got sent in to investigate a murder and of course, no thought a vampire was the culprit. It was pretty bad.

[A horrible thought occurs to Layla.]

The murderer you were investigating wasn't the one who turned you, right?

No thank God! [He wanted to do something much, much worse, not that Seras will tell Layla that.] My Master... you see he's in servitude to an old ah -- vampire hunting organisation, for bad vampires mind you. They sent him in and he saved me. [In a manner of speaking.]

Oh, that is much better. I'm glad you didn't wind up with a horrible person for a vampire Master, Seras.

Me too, he can be a jerk sometimes but... overall, he's a good Master.
