[Mary has found herself in a small store with electronic keyboards. Her eyes aren't visible from the way the NV is positioned so anyone watching might believe it's KOS-MOS rather than the woman she shares her body with.

She'd never had any involvement with music in the Ancient Lost Jerusalem Era, and KOS-MOS hadn't either in the future , but Mary had made a point of looking up information on her NV on how to play. Fingers lightly touched across the keys until she started playing. And when she finishes, she says very softly:]

I like this instrument.

Music makes people happy, doesn't it?

Well -- it's not necessarily to cause sadness. It's just... sometimes when people play music, their emotions come through with it. So if they're sad when they're playing their music, it can sound sad too.

For minstrels it's pretty much their bread and butter, to be able to convey feelings to the people listening to them. Although they tend to play more jaunty music than sad.

And vice versa, sometimes feelings can be influenced by music.

I don't know what kind of task you had back home, but around here, there seem to be a lot of different types of music. You could take advantage of that.

Anything by a classical composer, I think. Instrumental music seems to capture emotions often. Maybe it's because it's trying to convey a message without words.

I highly recommend Chopin. His music is really beautiful.

Mm, back home there have been stories about bards who pass on messages through their music, either lyrically or otherwise. My friend Byakuya even mentioned that there are nobles who've passed messages through the use of their sleeves.

[ Ella laughs at that. ]

That's a cat for you. They'll only pay attention to what they want to pay - [ And as if someone was insulted by her words, something breaks in the background. Damnit Lucifurr. ] ... attention to.

Ah, yes, sleeves. Apparently there's a way you can hold your sleeve - not a sleeve like a regular shirt, but one of those fancy, long flowing sleeves nobles wear; that conveys a message or something. Byakuya knows all about it, apparently. We got to talking about it when I was toying with a fan.

People can be pretty resourceful when they need to be. [ She leans over the couch to check and see what her stepsister's cat knocked over. Aww - she liked that lamp. ]

Having so many different ways to communicate without words, I mean.
