[it's been something shy of a month before a certain kid finally gets around to gracing the network with his presence– though, judging by the tone of his voice, he sounds about as bored as a pile of bricks.]

[but Vanitas is as good as concealing his true intentions as the helmet he keeps on his head is good at concealing his features. he's had a fascinating week, and he's even got the paperwork to show for it.]

It's kind of funny how much you can learn about all sorts of different people just by making a change of face. [there is the sound of him shuffling the aforementioned paperwork.]

Question for you all, though. Let's say you learned a secret– a really important, really personal secret. And let's say it's a secret about someone you hate with every fiber of your being.

What would you do with it? Would it depend on what the secret is?

[It's lost on Sora at first, and he says it with no shortage of confusion and incredulity. After all, he doesn't wear red. Not anymore. Not since he was younger...]

[Come to think of it, it's only been brought to his attention recently. Roxas and him had a conversation about it among other things at Kahve. He'd used that same phrase, but it wasn't just something he'd brought up out of the blue. It was all written --]

Secrets. Personal secrets. He knows what Vanitas meant.

The NV falls abruptly from Sora's hands and onto the covers as he scrambles over to his nightstand. Even from far away, the sounds of Sora frantically searching through the drawer can be heard.

It should be there, right where it's supposed to be. Right where he left it. It has to be.]

[Vanitas will be patient as ever while Sora conducts his frantic search– perhaps he'd relinquish the real diary if Sora asks politely.]

[and perhaps for a price.]

[it's probably a good thing that Sora can't see the smug, smug twist of a smile on Vanitas' face right now. he raises his voice, hopefully so Sora can hear him.]

So was that a no, you're not the guy in red? Funny, that doesn't really add up to me, not with all the other stuff I've read about here.

[His scrambling comes to an abrupt stop as Vanitas' voice breaks through Sora's panic. He whirls to look a the NV, cold dread turning very abruptly into anger. He has it. He has Roxas' diary. And he know how it fell into his hands. So not only did he upset his best friends, left his body battered and bruised but he sorted through his things and stole from him.

With an abrupt jerk, he's snatching his NV from the bed, gripping it with both hands. He'll be deliberately ignoring that prodding, personal question in favor of being furious and indignant. If it's a reaction he's been aiming for, this is probably his most successful result yet.]

Vanitas! That isn't yours!
