it's been almost two months since I showed up. not a lot of time, I know, but I'm finally feeling caged in around here for some reason. maybe it's the heat or something but I feel like I need to go somewhere...but I don't know where that is. and it's not like I can snap my fingers and go on a vacation in the bahamas or anything, either.

wonder if anyone has that kind of power. that'd be cool.

sorry, not the point. I was wondering if anyone'd like to go out for drinks or dancing or something. I'm way too antsy in this apartment these days, even with a job.

Since when do you have to pay to get into a tavern? Isn't the whole point to get people inside and buying drinks?

It's a dance club, not a tavern. It's a little different. Most restaurants and bars don't have cover charges.

So you have to pay just because you want to dance there? Seems a little strange to me, but I suppose it's just something else I'll have to get used to, won't I?

I think it goes towards paying the DJ and things like that.

And this 'DJ' is worth it, then?

Sometimes. Depends on the night and what he or she feels like playing.

[She shrugs.]

Want to just go for drinks instead?

That sounds like my kind of night! We can even dance somewhere else, if you'd still like to.

[Then it occurs to him that maybe she wanted to go to the other place instead and he hesitates.]

But if you'd rather, I can meet you were you are and we can go there. Paying this DJ doesn't bother me that much.

[She waves a hand dismissively.]

It's okay. If you don't like the music, you wouldn't have any fun anyway. There's a few bars around we can hit instead. I just want to do something or be around people tonight, that's all.

Sometimes it's important to be around people.

[It's a quiet, serious answer, oddly weighty against his usual tone, though it quickly returns to his pleasant light tone.]

So if you're in need of company, I'm happy to meet you wherever you like.

[She gives him a grateful look after a moment, the smile not quite there or able to reach her eyes.]

Just here. We'll walk around and get some drinks.

I'm on my way!

[And eventually he'll turn up, wearing some of the clothing she picked out for him as well.]

[Dani's sitting at the fountain, texting on her phone, when he strolls up. She glances his way once, then again when she realizes he's not wearing those mage robes. She jumps up.]

Hey. Thanks for coming out. [She smiles.] Look at you.

[Anders flashes her one of his easy-going smiles that he always seems to have ready.]

I thought you might like it. [He gives a little turn on the spot.] It looks good, doesn't it?

It definitely does. I almost didn't realize it was you. [She flicks her gaze over his body, up and down, assessing.] You know, I've never shopped for a guy before, but it looks like you were pretty successful by the end of it.

[She chuckles.]

Of course, you know you're going to have people hitting on you right and left if they haven't started.

[His expression brightens quite considerably at that last part.]

Do you really think so? Because I've been trying a bit already but I can't say I've had that much luck. I thought maybe it was because things were simpler in the Circle. Not exactly a lot of time for being subtle about liking someone. Not when you never know if someone's going to end up possessed by a demon or cut down by a templar or something.

[And he laughs, because horrible deaths are unfortunately common where he's from.]

It's possibly because you're a new arrival, too, but I'm sure that will change. The workers at my usual coffee shop don't give me dirty looks anymore, so I think it'd just take a little bit of time.

[She shrugs.]

Going out to public places like clubs does help, I think. At least it gets your face out there.

You work at a coffee shop? Perhaps I'll have to stop by some time. [And find out what coffee is...]

I suppose that's one way to look at it, although sometimes it feels like just putting a big target on yourself.

I actually work as a dance instructor but there's a coffee shop on the same block I visit almost every morning. I'll show it to you one day.

You don't go out alone, do you?

I take it you really like or use a lot of this coffee, yes? I wouldn't mind seeing it, if you like it that much.

You've never had coffee?

[Oh, no, this is a tragedy. She marks that down for another thing she'll need to get him to try.]

It's a hot, bitter drink people have in the mornings to keep them awake, since it has caffeine in it. But you can dress it up, add milk or sugar or chocolate... There are hundreds of ways to fix it up to your liking. I'll bring you some one morning and you can try it out.

I've never even heard of it, really. Sometimes we drink tea, if you can get it or for things like beneficial reasons - certain herbal teas are good for aiding others, and I'll make them if I can get the ingredients - but other than that, I've really only had hot drinks like cider or mulled wine during festivals.

[A grin tilted the corners of his lips.] And sugar's a little outside of how much coin I'd usually have. More of a thing for nobles, really.

[No sugar? No, no, she'd need to fix this immediately.]

Well, sugar's not like that here. You can buy it at the grocery store and it's fairly cheap. I'll bring you over to my apartment sometime and make you some coffee and some other things.

[No missing out for him any longer.]

Ohh, I certainly won't say no to visiting your home. In fact, feel free to invite me around as often as you like. I could even stay over one night, if you ever wanted.

[That last part gets a grin and a wink.]

[She chuckles.]

Be careful what you wish for. I might just have you stay over often.

[And then she remembers and she nearly slaps a palm to her forehead.]

Oh. The cat. I...need to figure out where the cat's going to sleep. And what he's going to eat. Dammit.

Hmm, I might enjoy that.

[Anders perks up visibly at the mention of a cat, all traces of flirting temporarily forgotten.]

A cat? You have a cat as well? Ohh~ what's the sweet little kitty like?
