ninth entry ( text )

It's been a long time since I have had the chance to write up one of our cases and I might be a little rusty, but here it is: The Guilt Complex!

Hopefully it has everything the press neglected to mention when the story made the headlines. And it could be a distraction from this "daylight darkness" stuff that has been going on lately too. Blackheath has been all skittery when we go for a walk... and after reading about that cat, I don't really blame him. I can only hope those kids have learnt their lesson too.

[The voice of a young man in his twenties, well-pronounced, crisp, but slightly arrogant, dismissive:] I wonder if it is really necessary to describe anything in this city as 'like out of a sci-fi film and completely unbelievable'. The city itself is some sort of nightmare out of post-apocalyptic pulp, or perhaps the survival horror genre. Then again [there almost seems to be a pause for a smile] I believe the same could be said of most of the people here. Or should I say characters?

I suppose I no longer need my name on that thesis, now that a few of my words might be repeated for a blog. What a relief. [A chuckle.]

It is strange, though. I wonder if we were chosen from different backgrounds to produce variations in stress reactions to this environment. Your misconception has actually given me a lot to think about.

I do not believe we have spoken before. I am Snake. Pardon my forwardness, but you mentioned you are doctor. What is your area of focus?

For something random, it seems remarkably adept at collecting air-breathing humanoid bipeds with the mental capacity to comprehend and withstand this environment, including whatever sort of physical or mental alteration allows us all the speak English. People from the same regions, similar points in time arrive - even from very deserted places with very few people. Arrivals are Pulled here and connect with people known to them. While true randomness means that it is just as likely for a coincidence to occur than it isn't, it is nonetheless fascinating and certainly gives the appearance of consciousness. Without further evidence, of course, we can only speculate.

It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I'm Snake, a student at Siren's Port University.

[OOC: I'm so sorry this is like a week later. I really would like to keep up this thread if you don't mind!]
