003: [VIDEO] DUEL THREE - "SKEWED PERCEPTIONS"; Forwarded to 11PM
[He'd passed out fairly earlier than usual from utter exhaustion earlier that afternoon, sleeping long into the night with little interruption. The oppressive atmosphere the Decaying Darkness placed on a mind like his was as heavy as the effects of pandemonium eating away at the City.
The deep shadows surrounding his bedside was absolutely still, the room silent. In his moderately lavish bedroom soaked with blue moonlight the Prince of the World of Toons lay sleeping on silk bedding, peacefully. Or so it would seem. The lace curtains hanging down from the canopy bed swayed gently. There was an ominous air about, even from what the video showed…A silhouette was cast overtop the sleeping Pegasus' head, elongated from the window as if some terrible beast lurked just outside.
"Grmmm…" Pegasus groaned unconsciously, his brow furrowing and his body tossing, tangled in the sheets.
There's a moment where he quivers and then hoarsely whimpers, moaning something inaudible beneath his breath.]
A-ah…Please no….N-not that…!
[He speaks in a way that suggests fright or even pain, his face contorting, until finally the peak of his nightmare seems to come to fruition, and he yells out:]
"Nooooooooooooooooo!"
[He sits up with a violent start at that, panting harshly, looking as white as a sheet. Pegasus' entire body is drenched with a cold sweat, his gasps coming in short, erratic bursts as his heart pounded. He clenched at his night shirt and the sheets around him as if for reassurance that he was still there in his bed, leaning over to fumble for the light switch. Instead of finding it immediately however he nearly topples out of the bed, righting himself at just the last second so that he flings off the blankets and lets his feet touch the floor.
His guts churned and twisted with the imagery that still flitted across his mind unlike any kind of dream, Pegasus feeling along the nightstand to help balance himself. He reached over and turned on the lamp, but…It was still dark. At least, from his perspective.]
Who…who turned out the lights? Gant? Is…the power off?
[A soft question as the switch seemed to be completely dead, leaving him in the opaque darkness. However, it's a curious thing to consider, given that anyone could see that the lights had not failed, but rather, something else had entirely…
His hands out stretched he searches for the sash on the window, pulling it open…But why? Why was there no light?
A tight squeeze of his fluttering heart makes him seem even more panicked than usual as he slowly makes his way to nightstand again and turns on a flashlight, clicking it on and off again a few times until he finally gets frustrated and frowns.]
Why isn't it working?
[Turning to face the screen his eye seems to be an unnatural murky blue, dead and pale with no reflection of light in it. He doesn't seem to realize this, instead getting even more exasperated and alarmed.]
Why…?! Why…!!
[The video ends abruptly there…Blackness greeting the viewer until nearly a half hour later the video streams again:
There's hushed crying in the background full of a terrible sorrow, such a pathetic and heart-wrenching sound really. To keep a little of his dignity intact his face is carefully hidden from view underneath his veil of hair, though it's clear he's the one that it had come from. He realizes he's being watched and quickly stifles himself to preserve a remainder of what little grace he has left, rubbing his unseeing grey hue.
He'd thought himself at his darkest hour when the Millennium ring bearer had come to steal his Eye, and possibly his life, in his weakened state, but this…This was simply incomparable. His head remains in between his knees, his arms wrapped around them and pulled in tight towards his chest, like a small, frightened child.
I tried everything. The lights are just fine. [Said a bit bitterly, his voice nearly breaking.] The truth is…I can't see. I can't! I don't understand it…Please, d-does anyone know a doctor?..I…I think I've gone blind.
[He tries his best to compose himself, knowing it was in poor taste to be so highly hysterical but…This was truly terrifying!]
((ooc: Basically, this follows the skewed perceptions plot from the Core Malfunction. Pegasus temporarily has lost his sight, allowing him to see through touch rather than through his actual eye.))

He doesn't respond immediately, blinking a little when the image of the phone comes into his mind for a split second before fading again to black.
].
If...I knew the answer to that, I assure you, I would not be...like this.

[Pulling his hair away to show the greyed hue and point directly at it, his voice becoming a bit more exasperated.]
And you don't go calling people children just because they're six years your junior! Stop doing that.
[His lip trembles.]
E-especially at a time like this....
[Trying so hard to hold his emotions in check. Failing. Hard.]
[After all, what does that have to do with him, given that he's blind!]
I can't see anything.
[He states, flatly.]
Rubbish. It's only a machine we've never even laid eyes on! What can it truly do?! Who is to say that whatever is behind this isn't something else entirely! Why blame it for everything when there's no substantial proof of that fact?
How can you know it's not medically related.
I don't. All I know is people have been losing control of their senses the last few days. And I don't mean they've gone crazy.
Shudders and puts a hand to his face, his hair shifting back slightly, parting from the left side just enough to show that eyepiece he liked to keep so carefully hidden. He doesn't say anything at first, instead just trying to will himself to calm down.]
...I know you're trying to help. I appreciate it, really, I do....But I can't help but be worried.
I know I've been a bad person in the past, and now it's finally catching up to me. I confess...I abused my power. I guess that's what they call Destiny coming full circle, isn't it.
To turn blind would only be part of the irony, wouldn't it? When I'm normally allowed to see so much beyond the capacity of a human eye.

And yet you insist on continuing to insult me. Generally such things don't make people feel any better, you know.
...You've seen Hell too, haven't you?
[A pause.]
Look, if you feel bad about things you did in your past then that means you're a better person now.
[video; private] Ugh sorry work is slowly murdering me..tags forever sporadic.
[A weary reply now to match his weary soul. Maybe Dante was right. Maybe he didn't have to be full of regret and remorse if that meant that what had happened changed him for the better.
But, his heart was heavy, too, with the implications. And there was only so much he could bear for the moment. So excuse his intense anguish that leaks from every pore.]
..I've seen the darkness in men's souls, including my own. A place like this seems to have the potential to amplify it...
That's because this place is shitty. It's a shitty place.

We just have to make the best of a bad situation.

It's not that I meant to....I suppose it was bound to happen some time whether I cared to control it or not.
[Action]
Shedding his over-coat to the main closet, he did pause to hear this distinct imperfect sound of anti-silence. Weeping. Terribly tragedy weeping. He knew on instinct that Manfred was incapable of tears, and he had already passed their other bland guest fast asleep on the living room couch. So it could only be...]
Now what's all this about, Peggy? Heads will certainly roll if it's that red-leather-daddy that dumped you.
[He was at Pegasus's doorway, seeing all the lights on and a distraught little mess in the middle of the bed. Oh yes, heads would roll.]
[Action]
A hand extends and he whimpers, unable to give an answer as if his very voice had been extinguished along with his sight.]
[Action]
The little fawn of a man looked absolutely distraught, and while Gant wasn't of a true sympathizer, he knew how to feel pity. Especially when it was for the rare allies that would come and go when he threw them away.
He slid onto the mattress, sliding a hand over Pegasus's frail backside, cupping his broad warm hand over his dainty shoulderblade.]
C'mon then, you can tell ol' Ganto-boy.
[Action]
N-no, nothing like that...!
[Dante-boy was the least of his problems. Besides, they weren't even...er—they were friends! But nevermind that. Gant was the type to layer ideas on thickly, and then tease relentlessly. Not that he minded, normally. More pressing matters were afoot, however.
He turns up to look at him, unseeing as he's touched, turning to show the strangely colored hue of muddled grey. He thinks he can almost see the outlines Gant's face for a moment in his mind.]
I-I don't know...what happened. I had a nightmare...I awoke, and then....it was very, very dark. I-I can't see.
[Action]
Hold still, let me see it.
[Gant crooned as he took a hold of the paler man's angular face and pressed his thumb gently beneath that usual cinnamon color eyes to find it a sickly grey. Gant's mouth creased with slight tension, but he none-the-less kept his tone with a positive lilt.]
It might just be your headaches at it again, but I'm no risk-taker when it comes these sorts of things, except of course... to trade one risk for another. The Darkness is out, but you need a Doc, spitspot, that's a risk I'm willing to take for a bosom buddy.
[Action]
I don't know if we should. It's dangerous, isn't it? But...If I am to be like this forever, I—
[Pushes his face into Gant's large palm, one hand of his own coming up to gently touch at his wrist. Comfort from someone so close like this was rare...It was almost like a sedative in and of itself, he felt instantly calmed by it.]
audio.
[Worry? Oh, yes, definitely present in her voice. Fear? Also present. She had dozed off with her NV turned on accidentally, and the network shuffled through to Pegasus' post, jolting her awake with the sound of his scream. What was--? Trouble? Pearl's voice is small and quiet.]
W-what's going on? Are you okay?
audio.
[That little girl from before...The spirit medium that was still in training. He quiets and tries to contain himself for the sake of a child, managing to make his voice not quaver as much, at least.]
I don't think I am, dear Pearl. I wish I could give you an answer, but...something is not right.

Oh...It's not cyborg. It can't see like a regular human eye can.

Mister Redgrave pointed out something important, which I probably should have realized earlier.
