For those acquainted with her, Sakura Kinomoto has returned home.

[There's a pause. He's waited a good amount of time to say that for sure, mostly because lots of people tended to disappear for a little while and then reappear again, and he had wanted to take that into account.

Now, though... He just doesn't have the time to keep up with it along with the rest of his work, and he doesn't want the cafe to go under when Sakura had kept his things while he had been gone from the Port for that half year.]

She had been meaning offer jobs at the Cats Eye Cafe, thus I'm going to do so in her stead. It was delayed for a while since there didn't seem to be a good time, and while a perfect time may have yet to appear, the Cafe is looking for new waiters, waitresses, and a management position.

Yes. A dear friend. I'd like to keep her business afloat in case the Core should see fit that she returns later on, but I'm afraid I'm a little in over my head when it comes to managing a cafe like that.

I hope she does come back. I don't really know how to help with businesses or anything like that, but I'm sorry about your friend.

It's alright. I know she was missing her friends and family back home. I'm certain she'll be able to see them again now. She's waited long enough for that.

Yeah, it sounds like it might be better. Are you going to be okay, though?

[There's only a short hesitation before his answer.]

Yes. I just need to-- fill those positions for her.

[A pause in return. She doesn't want to push if he'd rather not talk about it, but...]

Are you sure?

People leave the Port all the time. It's a good sign.

Best not to discourage it from happening, after all. I'm sure most of us have lives to get back to back home.

Yeah. I know there are some people who want to stay here, but I think it would be better for most of us to be able to go home.

Or to be given the choice. Heh. Perhaps the kindest act would either be for us to forget everything of this place when we return home, or be given the chance to control our passage between the two worlds.

I think being able to control our passage would be the best! I mean, I know I don't want to forget anything about this place when I go home.

It's certainly the least that could be done once the Core is fixed. Friends are hard to leave behind.

Do you think they'll really be able to fix it?

Everything can be fixed with time. And if there's no way to fix something, then something new will be made to substitute that.

Wait, how could they make a replacement for the Core?

How do you create a replacement planet?

[There's that tinge of amusement again. But it's a problem he's been working on, and he's certain the solution wasn't far away.]

People are innovative when they need to get things done.

A-A replacement planet? There was really something like that in your world?

It's something we're working on, yes.

When you know that your world is going to end within a few hundred years, it gets people working hard to save everyone.

Perhaps that would be the same with the Core. With enough determination, I'm certain the scientists here would be able to either fix or recreate its effects eventually.

W-Wait, why is it going to end?

Various reasons. We've been in a precarious situation for a while, and time deteriorates all things. What we know for sure is that within five hundred years... Cocoon would crash on Gran Pulse and obliterate all life on the planet. There is no escaping that scenario, and thus the best method is to create an arc where humanity survives.

A new world, by that time.

And yes, I believe that's possible. There's always going to be-- glitches, when working with prototypes and experimenting, but eventually, they may have a working method of replicating Core energy.

What's Cocoon?

As long as the glitches don't do bad things to anybody!

Cocoon is-- my home world. Gran Pulse is the world underneath.

So they're just going to crash into each other?

They were supposed to a while ago. When I first came here... I believed they already had. It was only due to great sacrifices that people were able to get 500 more years to come up with a solution to save everyone.

[Let's not mention the 1/3 of the population who died anyway from the mere dislocation of the planet.]

Great sacrifices?

Yes.

--Heroes who gave everything they could in order to save a population of people not their own, and who wanted them dead.

They became legends to live up to at home.
